Woo! Go Uematsu-san!
![]() He's one of the greatest...rivalled only in my eyes by Harry Gregson-Williams (?) who did the MGS OST. FF wouldn't be the same without his contributions. ![]() |

The Aeris theme is a rip-off of another Uematsu song (the opera on FF6), but that doesnt matter he's still great.

On that, we could say 50% of the FFX OST is a ripoff of To Zanarkand
![]() I liked his Black Mages remixes of great tracks. I own both albums! ![]() |

Uematsu is a GOD. Plain and simple, a musical genius. I'm a huge Uematsu fan, and went to the Final Fantasy "Dear Friends" concert a while back, which was amazing.
If you're into Uematsu music, Joe Hisaishi (Ghibli films) and Yoko Kanno (Cowboy Bebop, RahXephon, etc) are two other very good Japanese composers.

I think the shining point of Uematsu's greatness is the fact that FF IX had well over 110 tracks of music written by him.
He's come to set the standard for what music in an RPG should be like. The only people who can even come close are Noriyuki Iwadare(Lunar, Grandia) and Motoi Sakuraba(Tales of Phantasia/Destiny, Star Ocean, Baten Kaitos). Sadly, I had to sit out both Dear Friends and More Friends; the former because my parents were too slow in getting tickets, the latter because I didn't have enough cash-- and didn't know ahead of time that a friend of mine from Arizona was going to Universal to see it. ;-;
