I am new to Gothic Formal wear but I have been looking around on the internet and I found some very extravagant wear for mourning. I have always been drawing sad girls in mourning, I often overdo it with some lavishly decorated top or a long veil, but what the heck. I feel that the formal wear should be associated with the event, for example the gothic prom dress; stick with something smooth and long, silky, probably going to the floor and some kind of shawl. And for a dance or night no the town; go with a lolita doll dress with an umbrella and a hat for a finishing touch. When in mourning; a pet, go with all black and a short veil, possibly a shawl if it goes with, if mouring a person, depending how well you knew the person over-do the dress!! This should show that you are willing to go to greater lengths for the person. I would go with traditional american 1800's , long with a jacket and veil. (yes I love veils, they cover my bedroom top to bottom!)
