Recently I find that all the music i really like is either from the UK or Montreal Canada, I recently bought (recently as in earlier today), Both Libertines Albums, Arctic Monkeys and the Hard Fi album, I already have all of them on the computer, but you gotta support the bands you like, so that they keep making music. Anyone else here like bands from the UK?

some of my favorite groups were Uk. I really can't remember right now but, My favorite probably is the Sneaker Pimps and the former frontrunner Kelli Ali. There has to be others but I really can't remember.

Madness? As in:
"Hey you! Don't watch that, watch this! This is the heavy heavy monster sound! The nasty(or nazi)-est sound around. So if you've come in off the street, and you're beginning to feel the heat, you'd better start to move your feet, to the rockinest, rock steadt beat, of Madness! One Step Beyond"?
Only ever heard that song, album stores got no Idea who they are and I always forget to search em on limewire.
Alot of older British bands are good too, Like the Beatles Obviously, The Who, The Monks, all that good stuff.

Hmm. Maiden, Motörhead, Pink Floyd, Queen, The Beatles, numerous others...
Pretty much all the music I like's British. And old as well for some reason. And for the record I think the Sex Pistols were a load of junk.

Pretty much all of my favorite British bands were from the '80s--The Police, Duran Duran, Tears For Fears, and Level 42. Particularly, Level 42 was my favorite among the lot because it was what eventually led me to playing the bass guitar...

Anyone heard of the Long Blondes? They're absolutely ace, and they're still unsigned (How, I do not know...). Try to find 'Giddy Stratospheres' if you can - it's just amazing. :D

They stream some of their stuff here, if that's any help --> http://www.myspace.com/thelongblondes
I actually really didn't expect to like them - female lead singers generally turn me off when they're not doing folk. And yet! :D

Sweet! thats a pretty good band, I'm deffinetly buying that album, when it comes out in Canada. Never thought a manga forum would introduce me to a new band.

Great! God, I hope they do make an album soon - for some reason they keep on almost being signed, and then... nothing.

I think they may be on my friends list, i'm not sure. Are they the fusion of dance and metal? And ellie how dare you say females turn you off as lead singers!!!!! If Kat Bjelland were here, she'd, why she'd pummel you!

I'm so sorry...! I try so hard, but apart from a few examples (PJ Harvey ftw!) the female voice in rock/indie/whatever just doesn't do it for me - something about the voices...
Kat Bjelland? Who does she sing for?
(My rec-senses are a-tingling~)

...I just can't get over the demise of The Libertines - listening to Babyshambles is like rubbing salt into the wound. (Of course, Pete Doherty's drug-fuelled disintegration being spread all over the tabloids every morning doesn't help either...)

Ellie I, as long as you dig PJ I can forgive you. Kat Bjelland was former lead guitarist and singer of Babes in Toyland and a bunch of other bands. She's in Katastrophy Wife now.

Wow, ellie_i, thanks for turning me on to the Long Blondes, the more I listen to, the more I like them why have they not been signed? They are better than about 80% of bands that get airplay on the radio.

My husband has gotten me into alot of old Brit pop...Oasis, Pulp, Blur, Elastica, The Verve...Has anyone seen the movie "Live Forever"? It's great and covers a whole bunch of the good bands that were big in the mid '90s in England. As far as new stuff, I like Keane, British Sea Power, and one of my fav bands, Muse!! *swoon* I can't wait for their new album in July.
Not too impressed with the Artic Monkeys...i saw them open for Oasis a few months back..they just seemed to rush through their music. I wonder if it's better on the album.
