A song that leaves me breathless (not in a good way either) is "Last Night" by Diddy featuring Keyshia Cole.

One- Diddy has no business singing. He sounds horrific! Diddy, please stick to rapping even though you're not really good at it either.

Two- Keyshia Cole's voice is a little raspy, but it usually sounds pleasant. In "Last Night" however it's unbearable! And she's singing off beat. Her vocals don't even match with the background music. Her and Diddy really messed up with this one...

Barbie Girl by Aqua-- It's a disgusting song sung my some chick with an annoying voice. It was hate at first sound.

Wannabe by the Spice Girls-- More chicks and more dumb lyrics. Yelled, no less. I remember when I was a kid and every other girl I knew loved that song. I knew then that I was kind of a loner.

Closing Time by Semisonic (I think that's their name)-- Can you say cliche? Everytime I hear that song, I want to puke. And the thing that made me hate that song even more was when my middle school class made it their class motto.

Gone by *N Sync (or should I say Justin Timberlake featuring the rest of *N Sync?)-- Justin's a control freak. *N Sync was better when the rest of the guys had solo bits. I use the term "better" loosely. I might as well say here that I hate all his solo work, too.

Most modern rap. Classic hip-hop is good. Modern rap songs, on the whole, sound the same.

Christian music. It gives me discomfort to no end.

Songs by people who aren't even singers. Hillary Duff, Lindsay Lohan, and Paris Hilton should not have record deals. Period.

Sweet Child o' Mine by Guns 'n Roses-- OVERRATED! Tell me what makes this song better than any song by any other hair metal band. If you give me a decent reason, I'll give you candy. If the reason is because Axel Rose's voice is beautiful, I won't give you candy.

Champagne Supernova by Oasis-- "Slowly walking down the hall/Faster than a cannon ball/Where wer you while we were getting high?" Do these lyrics make sense? Could the guy's voice be any more whiney? He's just a [explitive] who's in love with himself. I can't believe that anyone would compare this band to the Beatles.

Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana-- Yeah, you heard me. I think that one of the most famous songs of the 90s is a pile of mushy garbage. If anyone can speak Nirvana-ese please translate this song word for word because I can't make heads or tails of it. I actually had to read the lyrics (which made no sense) to find out what they were 'cause Kurt Cobain sings like his jaw was injected with novicaine. He can't sing. He just yells incoherently. That song singlehandedly turned me off to rock and it took me several years to be turned back on. Nirvana wasn't the first grunge band and they weren't the last grunge band. They were just the most popular. Kinda like *N Sync was the most popular boy band. Popularity doesn't make anyone brilliant. Neither does killing yourself as soon as you realize that your genre of music is imploding. At age 27, no less. That just makes you sell more albums (but you can't take it with you). All I'm saying is that if Cobain wrote some songs that made sense (like the stuff in his journals) maybe, just maybe, I'd give him some respect. He wasn't the voice of my generation ('cause I was like 7 back then) and he souldn't be the voice of anyone else's.

Just like the way I listen to disco, funk or hip-hop: the beat is everything. The music of a song is a LOT more than just the words you sing along.

You just said the music is more important than the words, but I'm talking about the artist's voice. A song is easy to listen to if the words are crap, but the vocals are good.

But when the vocals are bad, my ears can't seem to filter it out and just hear the music/beat as if I were listening to an instrumental. That's why I can't listen to Ayumi Hamasaki. Some of her beats might be really good, but her voice detracts from it and doesn't make it worthwhile.
