I was just wondering what the most popular Manga Novels that are distributed by Tokyopop are.

Mine is .hack//AI Buster Volume one. I am getting the sequel for my birthday along with a few others. (Gravitation, Gundam SEED, Slayers, and CLAMP School Paranormal Investigators.)

So what are your favorites?

Well, I have only read the .hack//AI Buster novels (1 and 2) but I would like to read more. I really liked the .hack//AI Buster novels though! :D

So far the Slayers novels are by far my favorite, but I'm eagerly anticipating the Crest of the Stars and Love Hina novels.

Do you know when the Love Hina novels are coming out?

Hmmm... My favorite Tokyopop novel was probably .hack//AI Buster, but my favorite overall novel was Fullmetal Alchemist: The Land of Sand. *points to her name* Yup, I'm writing from a biased view here...

I don't know, but I hope the Love Hina novels come out soon. The series sounds fairly interesting, though it's full of fanservice and ecchi content. Underneath all the fanservice Chobits is a good series, so it could be the same with Love Hina ^_^

My bookstore doesn't really want to stock the manga novels, so I'm not able to buy them very often. I guess I should order more online or something.

But so far, out of the two series I've read... Slayers.

This is a topic about the books TokyoPop publishes, not the actual manga. Have you read any of those?

There aren't too many, but the ones I've read are pretty decent. You should look for them next time you go in a bookstore. They should be in the same section. ^^;

No. Phd is a MANGA. We are talking about MANGA NOVELS. Meaning that there are very little pictures and more words.

MANGA NOVEL TITLES
.hack//AI BUSTER
.hack//ANOTHER BIRTH
Love Hina
CLAMP Paranormal Investigators
Gravitation
Devil May Cry
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed
Slayers

(All from memory)

You can find them near the titles that the novels are relating to in the manga section. You should really try getting them because they are really good.

Yeah the novels explain things well. Also if you go play the game (even if it's just the first one) it can help clear things up. But there's still stuff that will seem mysterious, that's just how it is. makes the series interesting

Not me probably my BF who frequents this account also...

My favorite manga novel is .hack//AI Buster but my favorite one published by another company would have to be the Vampire Hunter D series.

I haven't read any of the Tokyopop novels... Skimmed through Gravitation, but put it down because it read like fanfiction. Anyways, I'm anxious to read the Kino's Journey books coming out.

Me too, but I'm still disappointed in the translation for the second volume. I'm looking forward to the Another Birth novels, and hoping that Zero will get licensed. Hint, hint...

I'm a huge fan of Hajime Kanzaka's Slayers series, and I'm disapointed that I have NEVER seen any of the Slayers books in a Barnes and Noble bookstore.

Ever.

In fact, I've gone to numerous stores and I've never met an employee who knows that Tokyopop publishes anything except manga.

And, I believe the proper term is 'light novel', not manga novel.

Yup it is light novel. Also, I'm very interested in picking up the Slayers novels. Can anybody tell me, just so I don't get too dissapointed by getting my hopes up (because I am going to pick them up no matter what ^^) what kind of changes are done to the English edition in deviation to the Japanese edition, if any?

I don't have the book directly in front of me (boxed up, as I'm in the process of moving) but in Vol.1, the incident where the fish guy wants to rape Lina's eggs is censored to kiss-- which matches the anime version, but kind of made the scene read funny....

Ok, you probably aren't familiar with the scene I'm talking about. It's the episode where Lina is captured by Zelgadis and tied up, and they want to punish her for insulting...er, 'Mummy Man'. Anyway, the actual scene in the book was about raping her, and none of the characters want to do it, except the fish guy but he wants Lina to lay eggs because that's how fish do their buisiness...

I just think the humor (and cleverness) of the scene was lost in the censoring, though I understand the reason why Tokyopop couldn't leave that in. I enjoyed reading it anyway though. It's very funny overall, written entirely from Lina's warped perspective of things.

Mine (as well as a large group of others I'm sure) are eagerly waiting for the Kino no Tabi (Kino's Journey) novels to be released. I saw them on the shelf all the time at book stores in Japan but I suck terribly at reading kanji and I have a small vocabulary. Thus, reading Japanese novels is impossible at the moment... most likely eternity. But that is by far the one thing I can't wait to see in my mailbox (yay for buying books online)!
