I noticed there's quite a few fans of hers lurking about. I read through the pages and surprisingly enough, no Utada threads! So I'm making one, hehe ^^;

Well, I pretty much love Krimlin Dusk, Automatic(remix), Eternally, Kairo, Time will, tell. My mind is drawing a blank at the moment. So, discuss!

Anyway, I'm not a big fan of her but I must say her voice is a relief from the usual high pitch voices one hears throughout Japanese pop.

I love Hikaru Utada. Almost every song she's made has been a hit with me. She's one of my favorite J-Pop artists. And though Hikki's voice can get a little squeaky sometimes it's still pretty strong and she's got excellent range. Not to mention she can nail some good high notes. Anyone who compares her voice to Ayumi Hamasaki is either deaf or brain-dead.

My favorite songs would have to be "Addicted to You", "Tokyo Nights", "Wonder Bout'", "Let Me Give You My Love", "Hotel Lobby", "Travelling", "Shiwase ni Narou", and "Sakura Drops"

I really only like her Kingdom Hearts song, though some of her other songs are okay, too. I'm thinking particularly about "Tokyo Nights" and "First Love" (title?).

I don't like anything else by her though.

Anyway, my favorite song is probably Easy Breezy, b/c it's the 1st song on my mp3 player. Even though it's a pretty annoying song.

One of my favorites too. I also really like: Passions, First Love, Sanctuary, Easy Breezy, the Workout, Keep Tryin', Colors, Letters, Deep River, Be My Last (which Aya Matsuura tried to sing, but masacred) and...more that I can't remember right now.

I love Sakura Drops, but the video is so LSD and crack laced. All of Utada's videos are though.

Some reason I just love Kremlin Dusk lyrics, an odd poetic quality to it.

I hate Sanctuary. I love Passion. But Sanctuary was made before Passion though.

Is it me or is Utada's English lyrics can make no sense in the Kingdom hearts songs?

That often happens. Translation issues. Hikki once said, "Things that sound good in Japanese sound ridiculous once they're translated to English." And vice-versa.

She's very poetic; But I still wonder about Utada at times. Does she feel "disconnected", "spirited away" (no pun intended), or something? Or does she smoke a couple blunts before she writes her music?

Utada's music is awesome~! she's been singing since she was young and her voice improved so much! The lyrics really don't make sense sometimes but I guess it's like that with every language if you translate it to english. Sanctuary is kinda awkward though, because it was written in english first ^^;;

Her songs probably make sense to her and only her. I like that.

In fact...if I was an artist I would write a whole bunch of junk that only I could understand. But people would still love it. They would think they were "deep."

Translation is an issue. I think that there is one song that when translated to english makes absolutely no sense. I don't remember when I heard it , though, or what it was.

I've been a Utada Hikaru fan for three years... Yeah ever since I first heard Simple and Clean while first playing Kingdom Hearts. Then came "sanctuary" then "I love you" then "Devil inside" then "Passion" then another song I can't remember the name of. I also have used these songs in writing my stories, and I must say, "Simple and Clean" allowed me to alter the ending of the second issue of a comic I created titled: Dreamer's Star

I haven't heard much by her, but I do like what I have heard. She has a somewhat different sound from most J-pop singers, which I like.

My favorite song of hers would have to be Distance, I think that while her Exodus was out there it was also catchy, I like Wonder Bout' and Devil Inside from that album the best. I think that I've never actually disliked an Utada song

She's attempting the American market again, folks...and as usual her English stuff sounds like crap compared to her Japanese songs.

"Come Back To Me" is OK, and I have it on my ipod, but it's just a shame, because it doesn't display Hikki's talent at all. But the song has been getting a lot of air time, so who knows? Her second english album may take off. BoA (a Korean artist that's trying to cross over) is also doing pretty good.

I think she's okay, and there are songs from her that I love, but she's not my favorite J-Pop artist.

Heart Station was disappointing, and I'm not impressed with the clips of the songs from her recent American album. I do like Deep River and Ultra Blue, though.
