I like how all the characters look more realistic, but my mom's not very keen on it. I think maybe it's because she's grown up with Archie comics so she's use to the more cartoonish look.

How awful....they just made them look like any other comic girl.

The short haired brunette in the second image looks sexy. ^_^ Yep.

The art somehow reminds me of the art from batman: TAS comic book.

Hm, I'm not sure what to think about the new look. The style will be really jarring if the boys' looks aren't changed as well.

Ewwwwww. I used to love Archie. Now it looks all modern and what-not. The main reason I bought them was because they seemed I dunno old school to me and now the people might be doing modern things. Like showing their midriffs!! O_O

I've been reading Archie comics for years! Hmm...the new style is very different, but I guess it looks fine. This style has more detail though...

(And it looks more...graphic novelish now. Wow...you can see the manga influence. It seems like manga is influencing everything now.)

The modern approach will NOT work!!!

They're looking for a quick-fix and a way to lure more people into buying their stories. IT...WILL...FAIL!!!

Wow! Just wow. That does NOT fit Archie comics!
I haven't bought any Archie comics for ages, and I don't see myself buying them anytime soon.

And that's a bad thing? :p

Quoted for truth.

The charm of Archie is the iconic, cartoony, old-school look. I can recognise an Archie a mile off; they just went and made it 'oh look mainstream'.

It would be ok if it was live action movie. ;) Oh and does the archie cartoon still air on Tv?

I'm not sure, but they stopped making new episodes back in 2000.

I can see your point. There was nothing wrong with the old look. :(

So...do all the Archie comics now look like this? Or just Betty and Veronica? I can't imagine how Reggie and Jughead will look now! And Ethel too...

It's dawning on me how weird this change is.

I don't know... The new look just seems kind of weird for them. I'm used to the retro feel.

For some reason it reminds me of that Sabrina the teenage witch cartoon.

Heh. She's an Archie character too.

The old look must not have been that popular or else they wouldn't have changed it. I guess they're trying to reach out to the new generation by giving the Archie characters a more up-to-date look.

Too bad 8 year olds have no money.

Art's not bad, but I would rather see that art on a different series. Archie is just...

i like it it makes them look hotter

Archie is hotter, haha, is that normal for me to think that?

I think it's an interesting approach; the original betty and veronica did NOT look like highschool girls; they were proportioned oddly. like barbie dolls.

Its not that the artwork is bad...just that it doesn't really suit the series, IMHO.

I just think everyone is so darn used to the old look that we reject anything new. We fear change, well I do at least.

I don't mind change. It can be good. For example, I don't think anyone complained about updating the My Little Ponies, just look at the difference between generations 1 and 2:

But they stayed true to the roots.
