I feel really weird asking this...and even weirder posting pics of myself to complete strangers. But I want some good opinions from people who know a thing or two about asian culture and hopefully fashion...
Ok, so it's time for a new look. Here's what you'd probably see me as on a typical day...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v705/nmaster/DSCN0477.jpg
Now, here's a rather unflattering pic to show you how ridiculous my hair is:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v705/nmaster/DSCN0550.jpg
Ok, so that's what we got to work with. My wardrobe right now is nothing but black t-shirts and black jeans. I'm not a colors guy, but I was thinking white for tops and pants could be anything from brown to green...whatever works...
Anyway, I wanna have a bit of asian taste to my new look, so does anybody have any good suggestions for a good day-to-day style? I'm especially wondering about my hair...
Honey
12-01-2006, 06:12 PM
yeah...my wardrobe is a lot of black too...but i make it interesting >.<
anywho, for the 'visual kei' thing, i suggest adding more red and white for color. good accessories would be spiked necklaces and thick chains (no spiked braceletes...those are tacky.) also, nice shirts are cool (with an open blazer) i'm a girl...and one thing i like to do is tuck a cross necklace into my tie so it looks more gothic... Leather and studs are also good...but try to stay away from trench coats. i also like large rings...like with maybe a skull or a cross
for a more casual look, big belt buckles do the trick (mine says AC/DC >.< )
but i seriously suggest that you cut your hair, bleach it out and dye it. a great brand of hair color is manic panic. as for styling...you should come up with your own style. if you want short...avoide emo hair cuts...if you want long, only keep parts long...like just the bangs.
as for make up...unless you already know how to put it on...don't attempt it...eyeliner and mascara look great on some guys...but you should have your sister or mom teach you how to put it on
(BTW, nazi accesories might look good on Dir En Grey...but us mortals can't pull them off >.< )
EDIT: oh right...studded platform boots rock :3

o.O ...not really what I was expecting...
I'm having trouble visualizing what your talking about all together. If it's standard to-do American Goth/Punk, then I'll pass. Japan's Goth stlyes though are pretty diverse and there are some definite awesome ones...although I'm not looking for anything flashy...something easy to throw on day-to-day...anyway you can get a pic of kinda what your talking about?
Honestly, I don't know if Goth was the realm I was aiming for with my makeover...although it'd be an easier adjustment...I do love my black...
but i seriously suggest that you cut your hair, bleach it out and dye it.I'd rather be devoured by termites...
I'm willing to trim it up a bit...I'm willing to add highlights or go to some other dark color...but I will NOT have short (or even medium) hair and I will never, ever, bleach my hair...
I was thinking something more along the lines of:

mmmm
i thought you meant like dir en grey style...and no, i wasn't really talking about the typical american goth/punk. i take my style from lolita, so it's sorta hard to understand where your coming from (i like flashy)
the only problem with what your asking (about japanese goth) is that they are extremely flashy, and a lot of the mens fashion also has lolita roots...
...but as for your hair...your sorta out of options if you refuse to shorten it and/or color it...(if you want something interesting...you could always do colored extensions... -_-)
nmaster64
12-01-2006, 07:11 PM
I like Dir en Grey's style, clothing wise. And yeah, love Gothic Lolita stuff, but it's a bit on the flashy side for me...I'm thinking more casual Japanese styles really...
Colored extensions...whoa...never thought of that...I can think of some cool things to do with those...
I'll keep hunting for pics of some styles I like. It's hard 'cause everything I find is either too flashy or too plain...

Try going to stores and ANYTHING that catches your eye try on and see what you end up with. I did that once and ended up with some wicked cool stuff.

yeah, i've seen the extensions at hottopic (it's a trustable brand too >.<)
ugh...relaxed huh? ...your not gonna make this easy are you? lol
here are some casual dir en grey pics...anything look interesting? >.<

Yeah, they're definitely cool, but I'm just not feeling the urge to jump off onto the complete goth side of the fence. Like, the first pic is pretty casual...I could pull off some of that...but it's that last pic I had never seen...I wish it was bigger and I could see some more angles...I'm lovin' the guy in white...and the pants on the dude on the left are awesome...
Movin' towards slightly more goth doesn't feel like much of a change to me. I've been "psuedo-goth" since high school. I wanted to try something new...
Sorry if I'm bein' kinda picky, thnx for your help. :P

Ugh...I hate gettin' pinned as younger than I am...I'm a sophomore in college for god's sake... :/
Anyway, I'm hunting now...there are some really cool styles in anime that come to mind...especially from like Bleach, in many of the openings and stuff...
Like, here's one...

Kinda hard to see, but catch what Ichigo's wearing? I'm really likin' that...

sorry about making you feel young...lol
but yeah i get it...what he's wearing sorta looks like the 2nd dir en grey pic i got...but it's more old school punk than anything (with the rolled up jeans...) i like the oversized military belt that he sometimes wears...but that's more punk too

God, I have got to move to Tokyo...

Suggestions? Anybody? I've got less than 3 weeks and a small budget to work with...help! I at least want to figure out something cool for my hair...
I want to change enough to make my friends kind of go "whoa" when they seem me again...
CrazyCat
12-03-2006, 09:34 PM
Question. Why do you want to change? I wear whatever is comfortable and I don't really care how I look so I'm not too sure if I can even help but I'm curious as to why. Are you trying to pull off an asian look and impress your friends or something?
nmaster64
12-03-2006, 10:21 PM
Well, sometimes you just feel like a change you know? I've been wearing nothing but black t-shirts and black jeans for like, I don't know, at least 4 years now, I think longer. I'd like a change of pace...
There may be a specific somebody I wouldn't mind impressing either...otherwise, I'm not one to care what other people think of my looks...

Hmm I think you should cut your hair even though you might not want to I think you should. Have a little fringe go for a emo one! And for colours I normally wear black as well but wear some red shirts and get some blue jeans.
nmaster64
12-04-2006, 10:34 AM
I don't want to cut my hair damnit! It's my precious...
Seriously, cutting my hair would be detrimental to my cause...trust me...but the emo look would be helpful to it (although I'm not a big fan of the emo look myself)...
So...I guess I want a long-haired Japanese emo look? o.O
nmaster64
12-04-2006, 08:05 PM
Is there not a long-haired style to emo?
And where/how would I go shopping for something like this:

I did type out a reply yesterday, but for reasons unknown, it didn't post, and my home PC hates te Tokyopop site (it doesn't display correctly). So I will try again~
Basically, I said that for your hair, you could keep the length - of course, it would have to be trimmed slightly, but it wouldn't be a drastic amount - you could haev layers cut into your hair, which would add volume to your hair, and would make it look quite different to how it does now. It wouldn't take too much effort, and it would create a rather different image for yourself.
As for the clothing, I was going to suggest something quite similar to what you have posted there. Whilst other people have suggested a more VK look, which you have stated you don't want to go for, you could have a look at the styles of say, some the male J-Pop artists. Whilst I'm not a huge J-Pop fan, I'm sure it doesn't differ that much to the K-Pop styles xD The clothres themselves wouldn't be that hard to find - try going into some of the 'trendier' stores, and looking around. They would provide goodquality clothing, but even if you don't want that sort of price, most places would sell similar trousers and the like. I can't think of any sites off the top of my head, however. If I do, I'll let you know~
What you could also do, is buy clothing with interesting prints on them, rather than plain. For example, stripes. Black and white can look rather effective like this. Um~ Accessories can make a difference, also. Bracelets, for example. I'm not much of a fan of male necklaces, personally, I find that most look tacky.
I hope I was of some help~ I'm not the best person to help with dressing non-flashy (I dress in decora style xD) but I hope I helped even a little~
But with that picture, what catches your eye, is not the clothes themselves, but how they're put together. By themselves, those are very plain clothes; a long black jumper, a black coat, grey (loose) trousers, a bag, and a necklace.
The red elt breaks th edark colours up, and helps to add something else to the outfit composition - it makes it far less plain, as does the silver (?) necklace; it creates a contrast against the over-bearing black on his top half.
You have to, however, make sure you choose a colour that goes with what you're wearing; the clothes tend to need to have a palette of colours (black, black, grey), and then a suitable colour is needed to break those up.
Hope that helped~~~ So basically, all you need to do, is look for something that you think 'oh, that's not too bad, quite nice', buy it, then do the sae thing for something else. Then, you never know, when you get home, you find that 'that top' that you bought a while back will go with 'these trousers', and with this 'new belt', it's a brand new look.

I've got a black DS Lite bracelet I love to wear, and a spike bracelet...I've worn my Lionheart necklace for years, that's not going anywhere...I <3 Squall...
But with that picture, what catches your eye, is not the clothes themselves, but how they're put together. By themselves, those are very plain clothes; a long black jumper, a black coat, grey (loose) trousers, a bag, and a necklace.Agreed. I want to know how to pull off a look similar to that. In all reality, I have no fashion sense. That's why I've been wearing mono-colored t-shirt and jeans for half a decade...

I think my biggest problem at this point is actually finding the stuff to buy...

Ahh~ Ok! In that case, well... Hmm, the sort of stores I was thinking of, I don't know if you have in the US (I'm totally guessing tha's where you're from). There's shops like River Island, but that's rather expensive, and as you've stated that you're worried about spending a lot and then finding that the clothes don't work together.
Over here, there are sort of... cheaper stores, like TKMaxx, Primark and Peacocks, which sell the same sort of clothes, just as really cheap prices. TKMaxx, especially, is good for this. But I've just done a search, and it's only in the UK x.X
The only thing I can suggest in that case, as I don't know the stores you have, is finding a free day, and going on a sort of scout at your nearest (large-ish) shopping centre, armed with a few images of the sort of look you want to go for, and making sure you go in shops you would never go in otherwise.
As for hair, hmm. I honestly can't think of anyone with your length hair, with layers, unless it's majorly styled. Sorry~ I was thinking along the lines of Lee Junki, but his hair these days is a lot shorter, and when it was long, it wasn't particuarly style (He's front left (http://www.beyou.com.tw/nextbu/showimg.php?beyou=j6uxl6g4&id=370477p.jpg&type=photo), Again (http://kr.img.image.yahoo.com/ygi/gallery/img/57/13/43bfdfd093568.jpg?43bfe0f1)). So, i'm not really sure... x.X
Some of Jun Ki's outfits, however, might help you a little? Some of them are horrible, but others are quite nice. You should be able to find clothing like that in most stores.
2 tops - striped under layer, grey t-shirt (http://kr.img.image.yahoo.com/ygi/gallery/img/05/2a/44708799d74a5.jpg?44708869)
Perhaps... A hairstyle like the one in the bottom? (http://kr.img.image.yahoo.com/ygi/gallery/img/10/66/43fa9e37be100.jpg?43fa9f29) It might be a bit too drastic, though, I'm not sure? It's got long bits, like you have currently, but also shorter layers actually around his head. It could work with your length. He also has a bit of a fringe, though.
http://kr.img.search.yahoo.com/search/images?b=121&p=%C0%CC%C1%D8%B1%E2&subtype=com&z=&property=3 <- yahoo! Korea search for JunKi. It is on th e7th page, so...
http://kr.img.search.yahoo.com/search/images?p=junki&ret=1&fr=kr-search_bot&subtype=com - A different search - it has some different results. I hope I helped.
You might find that with a one or two jackets, or tops, a lot of what you currently have would work. It would just be a case of wearing say, 2 tops, and a jacket, instead of one and a jacket.
nmaster64
12-05-2006, 03:34 AM
Yeah, I've never heard of any of those stores...I doubt we've got anything with half the selection of stuff in other countries. Everything here is preppy...unless you go to hot topic for the goth stuff...the US is so boring with it's styles...never does anything out of the standard...
I'm lovin' that dude's hair, especially in this one (http://kr.img.image.yahoo.com/ygi/gallery/img/10/66/43fa9e37be100.jpg?43fa9f29). I would love to pull something like that off...something tells me I'm going to have some crazy daily maintenance though...
I guess this weekend I'll take a trip to the mall and see what I can find...I'm not sure what to do with my hair though...I see a couple options I like...I just can't decide...
SleptDoll
12-05-2006, 07:07 AM
Well, through my experience, it doens't have to be an unknown store to be able to find good things. The stores I mentioned are quite big, well-known stores, which sell items of clothing that many, many people well, some of which probably is preppy (if I've got the definition correct...) It just depends on what you match them with~
Haha, JunKi has some awesome style, I think xD As to maintenance for that specific style... I don't think it would be a huge amount. It's just a rather interesting style xD It would just be a case of making sure it's cared for correctly. I think. I'm not hugely great when it comes to hairstyles, to be honest xD Layers pretty much take care of themselves. Although, when it rains, my own tend to go... fluffy when they dry. Hair straighteners are required x.X But I don't know if that's the case for everyone.
Glad I could be of a little help, though~☆

12-05-2006, 07:11 AM
Yeah, my hair does the exact same thing. Anytime I get layers in they're generally gone the next day...nobody's ever shown me how to keep them in place...I don't even know what a hair straightener is exactly...lol...I've always just let my hair run wild...in the past couple years I've kept it in a ponytail just so I don't have to mess with it...

Hmm event hough you don't want to cut your hair I think you should! CUT IT!! I think the emo look would suit you. You dont have to cut much hmm about the clothes I don't really know where to shop for guys? ?_? Mayeb Topman they might have something cool

I don't mind going emo clothes-wise, and I don't even have a problem doing an emo kind of hair style. However, I'm not cutting my hair, at least not much...
Is a long-haired emo style not doable? Like a slightly longer version of this...

When I felt like a change, I just cut my hair a foot shorter and started wearing contacts. My friends almost didn't recognize me :p You know, if and when you cut you hair, you can bring in a picture of what you want it to look like. That's what I did and it looked the way I wanted it.
Finding 'right' clothes is a crap shoot. Go around a mall to different stores and hopefully you'll fine the right ones that match, etc. Otherwise, I have no idea because I don't "dress to impress" so I probably shouldn't advise people in what they should wear/look.

...i almost forgot about this thread -_-' [i'm almost never on the forums...]
but if you don't want to cut your hair, dont!! you could do a lot of cool things still leaving it long, and i don't think bangs would look good on you (no offense meant) ...i still think that colored extensions would do the trick...but when you want to get your hair styled, find an actual salon, and set up an apointment to just talk to the one of the people, and ask them if they can tie in the extensions and teach you how to (never let anyone talk you into glue extensions)
as for the clothes, you might be able to find some cool stuff at ragstock or thrift stores...if you don't mind second hand. Also, if you do that...there would be a lot of interesting things there that might go with what you are trying to do (and it'd be cheaper) :3
nmaster64
12-06-2006, 08:36 PM
I talked with a friend of mine (she's brilliant on fashion) and she said like the same thing about going to thrift stores...my only question is...what's a thrift store? I mean, I know what they ARE, but lol, I don't know anything about the town I live in (Raleigh is RIDICULOUSLY confusing to travel around), and the mall is about the only place I know how to get to...so like, is there a chain thrift store I can google map or something? lol...I'm so clueless...
Let's see...what did she say about my hair...oh yeah...The cuts you posted pictures of are what are called Razor cuts, because the use a comb with a razor to cut the hair so it gets that jagged edge look. Because your face is longish in general I would personally stay away from any style that puts the majority of your hair at chin length because it you would end up looking like you have a box on your head. Bangs that long are fine, just not the whole shabang. Razor cuts are fine as long as you do not get to crazy with it and have 80 different lengths of hair. So, um...ya'll think there just no style for me? *cries* I just don't look good no matter what I do I guess...
I'll think about the colored extensions some more, that's a nifty idea...I'll ask my friend about it...
Honey
12-07-2006, 06:07 AM
ugh...i had the whole razor thing done to my hair once...and i think i cried myself to sleep for about a week. it made my hari soooooo frizzy and hard to work with...and if i didn't spend like...an hour on it each morning it looked like i had an afro -_-;
but i'm sure that there would be a ragstock around you somewear...but i don't know about any other chain thrift stores...lets see... you would probably have to ask someone about where to look...

Goodwill (http://locator.goodwill.org/) and the Salvation Army (http://www.satruck.com/FindStore.asp) both have thrift stores all over the US. I've found some nice clothes for every day wear and for costumes there. Actually, I got the jacket I brought to work with me today at a Goodwill store. ^.^

Hi, kudos on opening yourself up to a bunch of strangers for makeover advice. That definitely takes courage...not sure if I'd be able to do that myself!
That said, just thought I'd throw in my two cents:
I understand about your hesitation to cut your long hair. I've always had long hair, hated getting it cut short, but the one time I took the plunge and got it cut short (above my shoulders) I LOVED it. It's literally weight being lifted off your shoulders. People notice right away. And it happened to be a cut and style I liked, so I felt confident wearing it. And I think it actually helped me become a more confident person as well. What can I say, change is good. Also, it's hair. It grows back. Styles change. No big deal. If you'd like others to start noticing you in a different way, changing your hairstyle is the most effective.
However, that doesn't mean you have to chop it all off in a dramatic way. The key to keeping long hair looking good is to get it trimmed often. You've gotta chop off the frizzy, jagged ends every once in a while. Being a girl who's had long hair for most of her life (I'm back to long again currently), I can tell you that trims every 3-6 months keep up the vitality of your hair. I just have my hair stylist vary the layers and bangs to keep up with trends.
In case you do decide to go short, like the images others have posted, let me just warn you that short hair requires more styling and upkeep. Especially the choppy, tousled cuts that make those models look so damn cool.
Ok, enough about hair. Other thoughts:
You could try changing your eyeglass frames. Try silver-rimmed frames or even rimless frames. Like changing your hairstyle, changing your eyeglass frames also updates your look dramatically. There's something about changing how your face is framed...people notice that more than they do a change of clothes.
Also, do you wear nail polish?
As for clothing advice, try flipping through some alternative fashion/design magazines. Also, try this site...there's a whole database of men's fashion that you can grab ideas from: http://nymag.com/fashion/fashionshows/men/index.html
I'm not implying that you need to wear designer duds. It's just that what you see on the runways is a lot more avant garde than what you'd see at a department store. It gets you thinking "differently" about clothes.
Also, you were asking about thrift stores. If you can afford it, visit NYC. It's ridiculous how many thrift stores there are in the East Village and also out in Brooklyn. If you have a school friend that lives in NY, ask if you can crash at their place for a day or two over winter vacation. (because it's also ridiculous how much it costs to get a hotel room in NYC!)
Hope this helps, and good luck.

But for nothing would I cut it to less than shorter length, and even that's stretching it. It's just a barrier for me I can't get through. My hair is my pride and joy, and I've always said what I really want is to have it EXTREMELY long, although now I'm getting sick of waiting. What to others seems like a simple hair cut is years and years of progression to me...
You could try changing your eyeglass frames. Try silver-rimmed frames or even rimless frames. Like changing your hairstyle, changing your eyeglass frames also updates your look dramatically. There's something about changing how your face is framed...people notice that more than they do a change of clothes.I definitely might try that. Over break I'll visit my eye doctor and browse the shelves and try some things on.
Also, do you wear nail polish?lol, no. But ironically that thought had crossed my mind not 10 minutes ago...
...visit NYC....Yeah, not happening...

Oh god...I'm embarrassed to post these pics...not because I don't like the cut, just 'cause I took 'em like right after waking up so my hairs all frizzled and I haven't done anything with it yet...not to mention I'm not the least bit photogenic and I just look bad...
Eh, what the hell, not like I won't have it on MySpace sometime soon or somethin...

It may not look like much now, but I like it cause now I can work with it! I've got a couple things I can do. I think I'm gonna change my part and kinda go emo with it covering like my left eye or something. I'm gonna try a few things once I get a chance.
My next step though, that'd I like some help deciding on is color. I want some color in there somewhere. Something cool, not bright, like maybe a dark blue. I can't decide though if I want to tip it or do highlights or maybe just die the whole thing a black-blue (I've done that in the past). So, that's my next decision I need to make before I go shopping...

i really like your hair in the first pic!! it looks great down!! >.<
as for color, i wouldn't do just the tips...cause now you have uneven hair and it might look funny -_-' ...but i think a dark blue or even purple would look okay. I just covered my blue with a color called ultra violet and it looks sorta navy/purple...i love it!!
but the only brand of hair dye i would ever suggest is Manic Panic (www.manicpanic.com). You get a lot of hair dye for only $7.99, and it is thick (not runny like some other crap brands) and it smells good >.<
so yes, check out their website, you'll probably see a color you like :3

Thanks. I'm just gonna take a trip down to my local beauty supply and see what I can pick up. I don't want to order anything, 'cause I'm changing addresses in a few days.
I think I'm gonna tip about half of it all around at random in dark blue. Then I was thinking about maybe like one big streak in the front on the left side...whatcha think?

I died my hair a black-blue once, and it really depended on what light you looked at it in. Sometimes it was very blue, sometimes it was very black, and at it's best it was black with a blue tint...
Maybe I'll have to get a somewhat lighter blue for tips...

Okay, ahem, i'm not totally sure i should be posting this as I'm sure my fashion sense went out the window years ago...and most of the conversation seems to be bouncing between Honey and nmaster64-so I'm not sure what's happened since first post.
Anyway, i like jeans, so i'm ging to suggest adding some jeans to your widely ranged wardrobe. (very original idea I know... jeans :D ). The whole blue hair dye thing sounds interesting...have you ever thought of blonde or light brown. Also, if you are definitely gping for blue, i like the lighter tip idea.
Also, mabye you could add something more formal to your wardrobe... 0_0

God, I feel like I've undone everything that hairdresser did...I just can't get it to look as nice as it did that day...I am indeed a failure at life...even after buying $50 in hair care products...ugh...
I haven't had anytime to go shopping thanks to exams. And I'm going home tomorrow, which was supposed to be my deadline for changing my look. Blah. Screw it, I'm going to go to Hot Topic today and buy some emo s**t...I give up...I just can't do this without someone holding my hand the whole way...

Honestly, I think your new haircut looks good.
As for dying black hair...that's tough. I have black (Asian) hair, and the one time I wanted to get highlights, the hairdresser had to bleach those strands of hair first (ie, start off with a lighter shade to put the color on to). Bleaching might be something you could try...
Honey
12-20-2006, 02:22 PM
...yeah, i tried to say that but noooo...lol
i honestly can't believe you cut it off o.O; ...but it looks good...now you have to figure out something to do with it...and not to sound weird or anything, but are you gonna wear eyeliner like that one guy?
Cool Aid, I have black hair too. (1)Take like a cup of water add 3 packs of cool aid stir well(2) apply to hair(3) let it sit for 45 min.
I do it all the time just pick the color cool aid you'd like. It only last for like a week tops but you can do it differnt for the next week.
nmaster64
12-20-2006, 07:33 PM
Yeah, I can't believe I cut it either. But after I got the first cut, I spent endless hours over the next week trying to do all sorts of stuff to it and bought all this crap for it and after all my effort it looked worse! It just drove me nuts so finally it was like 3 in the morning and I hadn't slept for days and was just like "AAAAGGGGHHHH! Screw it!" and decided to get it cut later...and I did...I miss my hair but I'm really liking having a new look. Can't wait to show my friends tomorrow...
<will get a pic up here soon of my new look>
No, I won't wear eyeliner. As for highlights...I don't know...I'm debating on that now...I think I'd like some...although I eskew the thought of bleaching my hair...even if it's just to dye it...someone told me it's not good for my hair either...
@shay: sticky, no?
@shay: sticky, no?
(4)wash cool aid out of hair(forgot that step)
:D it is for the 45 min. you leave it in but after you wash it out it's not. It drys out your hair if you do for three weeks strait.

hmmm, bleaching does damage your hair, but if you have someone professional do it, you [most likely] won't have to worry about it. If you do it yourself, you might >.< ...one thing though, i had my hair bleached professionally, and i did lose a lot of hair, i have thick hair, but still...quite a bit fell out, but no one else could tell (just thought i'd warn you)

you have nice hair but it needs a cut cuz i see split ends. it's also kind of thin so layers might help give it more shape so its not just stuck to the shape of your skull. if you got time to get a pro cut it and maybe use some styling gel or hair spray to be creative you might want to try a look like this
http://nana-nana.net/images/ryuhei/cooltrans/1.jpg
as for wardrobe you could try button down shirts from express men white black or blood red. i know express might not seem hardcore enough but they do make good quality shirts and when used with other unique clothing such as bondage pants they look awesome. of course you could use some accents like a black tie, not a silky fat one but a thin twill one. some nice wallet chains and a thick necklace would look great too. look around web sites to find some really eye catching stuff you can't find at the mall. for you i'd reccomend lip-service.com if you haven't used it already. alright, that's all the advice i got. good luck!

Heh, no offense, this is gonna sound majorly cliche, but I don't like being someone else, just myself... :pBut I find difference in being someone else and someone else being what you want to be. I don't want to be him, persay, I want to be me, but I envy he's able to pull off many of the things I would like to do. I didn't see him and come to like his style, he chose the style I like. There's a stark difference IMO.

Hehe, well, not the change I was looking for in a way, but I've got 1 or 2 new outfits that definitely look different. I'm still keeping the idea of trying some different styles in mind...but it'll probably be months before I can afford anything again. Shopping put $150 on my credit card I don't have.
The biggest difference I notice is if I wear the tight-fit pants I bought. I always said I'd never wear tight pants, but I happened to find one pair that fit well, so I went with it. That, along with a some new overshirts and a hat (I've never worn a hat before, and my previous overshirts were all of the hawaiin-type variety vs the long-sleeved cotton these are), and it's definitely different. I got a "sexy" comment from the person I wanted, so I guess it worked. ;)
A couple people haven't recognized me, but it's not a drastic a change as I was talking. Hopefully I can revisit the idea again when I get some more cash. For now I'm just trying to figure out what to do with my hair as it's starting to grow back...
Honey
01-06-2007, 10:31 AM
so, you didn't really want it short? lol...i'm trying to figure out what to do with my hair too...but if you don't mind bleach, talk to your hair dresser. what she could do for you is re-dye it a really nice brand of black (one that won't fade and you can buy the root touch up stuff, if you don't have it) and she can take some of it, bleach it out, and add a color you want, like blue. If your hair is bleached, the blue will show up really good, and it will last a long time...
another cheaper alternative is bleaching it yourself, but you have to follow the directions PERFECTLY or you'll end up with no hair >.<
nmaster64
01-08-2007, 01:27 AM
In a sense I didn't want it short. I would rather have had some awesome long style. But this works easier...
The only problem I've been having the past few weeks is GOD FRIGGIN' BLESSED MY HAIR WILL NOT STRAIGHTEN FOR ANYTHING!!! It has this one big wave to it, so it kind of curves to my face...I HATE IT! I just want it like spiked straight down on the sides. But no matter how much gel, pomade, gum, or wax I take to it, it just doesn't even care.
Do I have to bleach it...*cries*...I don't wanna!
Honey
01-08-2007, 02:27 PM
if you want it to color, YES YOU DO!! lol
you'll just waste money on colors that claim to work on black hair...but nothing actually will (i tried one and it didn't even work on my brown hair -_-' ) ...bleaching isn't that bad, and it helps your color stay in a long time. Mine lasted around 10 weeks before it didn't look pink anymore :3 ...the Manic Panic Website (www.manicpanic.com) has tips under the dye hard of the month section...people tell how they make their hair color last the longest (normally it doesn't involve washing it everyday, but unless you're rolling around in the mud...who cares?)
you might have to buy a straightener...you can get them at walmart for like...$15, but they aren't "name brand" (as if anyone besides my cousins actually care)
nmaster64
01-08-2007, 06:42 PM
I bought a little $20 straightener, but it is **** on ice. I'm gonna try to get my money back and break down and get a $30 or $40 one I know works...also need to get something to protect my hair, it's slowly but surely being damaged by all this heat now that I actually blow-dry and flat-iron it...
I refuse to bleach my whole do, but I'll probably get it bleached and dyed professionally at the tips once it grows out a bit more...
Damnit...I wish I could figure out what band it was I saw the other day in that music video...bunch of samurai stuff happenin'...the lead singer had his hair long in the back and tipped blood red...
Edit: FOUND IT! It's the guy from 30 Seconds to Mars in their new video From Yesterday. I can't find any pics of his hair like that though...just in the video...
Looking closer now, it's not exactly what I was thinking. I like my idea still, of growing it long behind my ears and cutting it in the front a bit shorter. Then, dye the difference in lengths red or blue...

you wouldn't have to get your whole head bleached, just what you want colored.
for damaged hair, you'll probably want damage controll/color safe shampoo. you probably shouldn't worry though, cause you haven't been doing anything horrible for too long XP

Yeah, once it gets back long enough, I'm gonna head back to the salon and have them cut, bleach, and dye it...
I've got some people over at deviantArt working on designs for my tattoo. It's a small one I'm gonna put on my ankle. Question is if I can muster the courage to get it done...I have the worst case of needle-phobia you've ever seen...and I'm allergic to pain...
I've always kinda wanted to get my ears pierced, but again...needles. Some people explained to me it's not really a needle, and doesn't actually hurt that bad, so I think I might go ahead and get it done. I worry about infections and all that though, I don't have any idea how to take care of 'em or whatever, and I've heard horror stories from friends...
I think whenever my hair gets back to shoulder length I'll take a weekend to get it all done at once, that should freak some people out (oh god my parents will flip) when they see me again...
Honey
01-22-2007, 02:28 PM
pft, when your earrings get infected, they don't really hurt, they just sorta bleed...and you don't even know it untill you take the earrings out...not getting your cartalige hurts (when you sleep)...
you shouldn't worry too much about the tattoo...one of my friends fell asleep getting hers (it's on her shoulder) ...

Well, I'm going to get my ears pierced tomorrow, I found a REALLY good place down the street. People tell me the guys there are so experienced, you can't even feel it, and they're really good about explaining how to take care of 'em and all.
I'm kinda worried though 'cause like even now just thinking about it I feel light-headed and stuff. I don't know if my body can take it...even if my mind can...
Got a hair appointment for a trim and dye on Wednesday...but I don't have a CLUE what I'm doing...'cause I have a little issue with my previous plan...
So Animazement is at the end of May, right? Well I really want to do smoking Shikamaru, but I don't think I'll have the length for the ponytail in time. So I've been thinking I might buy an Itachi costume and do him, my hair is just about perfect for him now. Problem with both of 'em is if I go get that cut I wanted (short in the front, long in the back, and highlight the back red), I likely won't be able to do either 'cause my hair will be too short. So, now I'm trying to figure out something similar but a bit different so I don't have to cut my hair too short that it won't at least be back the way it was by the con. All I know for sure is...I want something dyed...I want something a bit different...
Canceled my tattoo...specifically for reasons of what the tattoo was of...even though I went and got it commissioned...I thought better of it...let's just say it may have been a regrettable idea...I'll hold off on the tattoo idea for a while I think...
Update: OW! My ears are sore! lol, it wasn't that bad...let's just see if I can keep them un-infected...
Update 2: Ears are slowly gettin' better. Not getting the hair thing done on the suggestion of my stylist. She says the red would fade in less than 2 weeks, so unless I wanted to redye it on a regular basis, I'd probably end up with pink hair. So instead we're gonna dye my whole head black/blue, like with a really strong blue. She tried once, dyed it twice to no avail. So I got another appointment where she's gonna try some super-duper strength blue dye, lol.
