I finnaly bought NGE on DVD so now I'm watching it =D Still an awesome series yo.

fokyeh I finished Goodbye Mr. Despair season 1. Seriously worst season finale. Why the hell did they finish the season by introducing yet a new character. That's not smart writing. :/ J00 want to leave teh series with a bang and leave the audience watching more. This just left me with a question mark above my head.

And so begins my summer anime fest. I have several complete series and individual DVDs to watch:

Shadow Star Narutary DVD 1 (Part of the Complete Box Set):
I was completely surprised. I had heard that the opening theme was a complete contrast to the series, but now I see that as an understatement. A very happy theme song, and a plot about kids planning to use "Dragon's Children" (the weird aliens) to kill about 500 million people. It has a unique blend of psychological/combat/humor elements to show how young girl Shiina gets by with her strange Dragon Child, Hoshimaru. Interesting characters, intriguing storyline, and epic alien sidekicks make this series a good one. The music fits the series, too.
Unfortunately, I see a downside to this series: The voice actress for Shiina did a terrible job in the first two episodes of the disc, but started to lessen her screaming of normally spoken lines afterwards. There is also the fact that the villain so far seen is a group of children, although this time around they are much older than the norm for the catergory.

Overall, I'm going to continue watching this series, and definitely gets two thumbs up. If you want a series that messes with your mind, occasionally makes you laugh, and keeps a dark atmosphere, try this series.

Shadow Star Narutaru 5-7

Basically, it was just as good storywise as the first DVD, however, this volume had some particularly stellar action scenes, as well as some humor. Episode 6 even spends more time focusing on Akira than the show's star, Shiina.
The best part is how well the dub has been cleaned up from the first 4 episodes. Shiina actually speaks her lines, and the conversations sound more natural.

I'm still furious at myself for not getting the box set when I saw it at FYE months ago. It's one of my favorite series of all time, which is probably obvious with my icon and such.

I finally saw Kaiba episodes eight and nine. Great plot twists. Also trying to finish up Gundam 00, with five more episodes left to watch.

Yeah, I cried because of Lockon. Setsuna BAAWWing and Haro just going "Lockon, Lockon, Lockon," made it even sadder. But I think Jihad-kun's just sad that he lost the guy who cuts his hair. :\
And right after crying, I start laughing because ohjesus, Alejandro's golden Gundam. It and Nadleeh are so faaaabulous.

I think it's because it's one of his earlier films. Its like Nausicca of the Valley of the Wind. Hardly hear people talk about that one either. Plus most people probably know his films based off of what's been in the theaters.

Yeah, I think your right; it should have had a higher rating. From what I gathered it seemed like a pretty interesting story. The animation was clean and crisp looking too. The voice acting was excellent and I could recognize some of my favorite anime voice actors in a few of the characters.

I really enjoy this anime...I literally sit through the whole half hour with a goofy smile, giggling away. Its not sappy or weepy or overly romantic, just very light and silly with enough awww moments to satisfy the inner fangirl. Hiroki is my fave. :3 :heart:

It's worth a look... though it's not as "wet" as the manga. :o

and I finaly went through the program quide and picked up recording Death Note again, I missed the first 6 episodes. But it's better than the first time I watched it. Something like 20 some episodes into the series. It was really confusing jumping in at that point.

Finally dragged myself into watching Code Geass. All I can really say is "Eh." Animation style is horrible, and the plot doesn't interest me too much. I can count the characters that I'm actually not indifferent about with one hand. If it weren't for some of them and the fact that I hate leaving series unfinished (unless I'm too busy, which I'm not at the moment), I'd drop this. At least I can say I watched it, but it's not looking like it'll be a favorite. :\

But I'm pissed that this has, what, 50 episodes? Crap.

Code Geass starts slow but kicks in with some pretty good eps toward the end of the first season. The second series (R2) to me so far has been kind of a snoozefest to me.

Anyhoo...finished watching xxxHolic and kind of figuring out which series to go to next.

I watched Episodes 37-40 of Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle last night. Really has gone downhill in the second season though Episode 40 is one of the best of the entire series (the sad tale about Kurogane's childhood, the death of his parents and his first meeting with Tomoyo).

I'm still convinced if this series wasn't aimed toward a younger audience, the TRC anime would've been great. Such as it is, it was 'meh' in the first season and an almost total embarrassment the second season (except for the episode I mentioned).

My brother got copies of the original Japanese dubs of Bleach and a few other amimes. But I've been mostly watching Bleach. The english dub voices are very similar to the Japanese voices. But there's still a few diffrence like their not called soul reapers their called death gods.
