what is your favorite kind of music and why?

I like metal because of the technical skill involed in playing the instruments and it's the only kind of music that pumps me up. Plus I like the anti-authoritarian lyrics. I'm talking about real metal not nu-metal, mallcore, or hardcore.

I think I generally like any kind of music that either rockets me into the stratosphere, or has a deep groove that gets my body on the dance floor, or touches something deep inside my soul...

I've found something from almost all music genres that has fit that bill for me--from rap, to r&B, to metal, to country, to J-pop. But I've always had a fondness for music that blends two or more genres together...

I'll pretty much listen to anything if it speaks to me. Sometimes I listen to pop and sometimes rock, reggae, techno, all kinds of stuff. I have had this thing against Jazz since my mom used to take me and my brother and sister to all these jazz concerts when we were younger(I like some jazz though it's just sometimes I'm resistant to it).

My favorite kind of music is rock. Not all rock (because a lot of it sucks), but most. I like it because mainly because I grew up on it, plus my parents listen to it. Bands like Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Metalica and Nine Inch Nails are just a few that I grew up listening to and that I still listen to today. Of course theres music genres that I grew up not liking too: R&B, rap, country, pop, classical, all that junk. My music preferences really haven't changed much sense I was little.

I would like to say rock, but I know that really broad. I like a range of music and I can't really limit it to one genre however at the moment I really like the kind of obscure Muse type music that's offically "alternative" but too cool for alternative. I like it because it's different from what I usualy listen to and it's fruckin talent!

Anything and everything; i find if you say you like one genre then decide you like ~~one~~ track from it, everyone goes "Oh, i thought you didn't like that!" yadda yadda....

It's so much easier to be open to all types; you never know what you'll find!

Technically I'm a hardcore kid. Hardcore punk, post-hardcore, metal core, metal, screamo, I like it all. Can't say why, it just appeals to me.

I also like other things, like classical, jazz, some alt/rock, swing. You name it, I'll at least give it a shot once.

I like all kinds of music, though, I just feel more affinity for older music than anything else.

I like prog the most, then classical, then fusion & jazz. I also listen to lots of electronica, goth, industrial, metal, space rock, synthpop, shoegazer, indie, techno, and some just plain pop/rock. I even have the occasional country, new age, folk and rap CD...but not so much...

i'm horrible with genres. i don't like them. especially with all of the new sub-genres, because different people consider bands and artists different genres.
so basically, i just listen to anything i find interesting. usually what would fit under the (wide) genre of rock, i guess.

I like mainly Classical and New-Age type music, slow and pretty. However I have also been known to like heavy metal, J-Pop (cuz then I don't have to be ticked off by lousy lyrics as in American Pop).. and basically any thing I come up against that I like I keep. Sometimes for the lyrics, sometimes for the music, all sorts of things.

J-pop and C-pop- I like the beat better
T-pop has some really great artists similar to c-pop i guess since they all originally are from China
K-pop ballads are so nice to relax to
