i loved this series. it was adorably cute! and the action wasn't bad either
the Maou yuuri was soo cool and the most adorable thing is when Gunter got turned into a doll! it was ADORABLE!
i would have loved to see more yuurixwolfram interation though. cause they were engaged!

Gunter turning into a doll was PRICELESS! That was SUCH a great episode.
I love Kyou Kara Maou to death. Just because I know if I'm down, it will NEVER fail to cheer me up. Even though it is plot-less until the 30-something episode mark. XPP But it's just one of those series that is so great that you don't care.
It's really too bad that it was done recently in Japan. >.< I refuse to believe it and refuse to go to sites with summaries. XDD I will wait forever until it comes out. I love the couples in there too, even as blind as Yuuri is. You see the character start to look a lot older and drawn better around the 50 episode mark is it's nice. ^^

KKM is one of my favorite anime! I only have 9 more episodes to go before it is done! EEE! I thought that it was hilarious when Gunter was transported to earth and became a model!

I saw the show a while back, though mostly through raws.
Now I'm catching up with the fansubs to see the ending with subtitles.
The ending's okay, though kinda cheesy.

I don't know why I love this anime. It makes me laugh. There's this one part when Conrad says something like "You Canada" and I didn't get it, but the look on Yuri's face was priceless. I don't know if anyone has gotten that far.

My guess is that your search turned up nothing because of spelling. (There are several ways to spell the title.) Here's the thread you're looking for:

It would be considered shounen-ai, not yaoi. ^^
Yaoi is a lot more hardcore than KKM is.

So please take back my spelling error someone explain why all my dvd have my title and not the one of this thread
well Wolf is insisting they sleep in the same bed, sneaks in and is constantly jealous

admittedly, I've only seen the gravitation dvd, not seen the manga as yet, and only to the 7 episode and it is called Yoai and it so far is no more hardcore then KKM is... I don't view kissing as hardcore.. But then I'm new to this type of anime..

^ Yaoi is basically male x male sex and is hardcore. KKM is more like Boy Love. It's not close to Yaoi. I know they show Wolf in Yuuri's bed but we don't actually see anything going on between the two besides that scene where he's waking up and sees Wolf there (And then freaking out. ;]).

The anime hits a slump at around ep 30 and starts to get less silly and more serious. Its strong pint is by no means serious so, does it get better?

It does get more serious, but it still does have it's silly moments. Actually it has some really silly moments. The last part of the show does seem to get pretty dark, but I haven't seen the last six episodes as they haven't been translated yet:( So give the rest a chance. It's like my favorite anime ever.

All right, to set some things straight.
The official spelling in the Japanese would be "Kyou kara Maou!" but for some reason, probably for pronounciation's sake, the English version is called "Kyo Kara Maoh!"
As for the shounen-ai versus yaoi thing, here's is Anime News Network's term for yaoi:
Yaoi is is the term used to describe manga or anime with strong, graphically portrayed homo-erotic themes involving men. In otherwords, yaoi is pornographic Anime featuring men with men. Unlike North American gay-porn, the target audience for yaoi is female. The word yaoi is actually an acronym of "Yama nashi, Ochi nashi, Imi nashi" (No climax, no point, no meaning), this is because yaoi, much like other forms of pornography, and unlike shounen-ai, often focuses exclusively on the sex, with only the minimal necessary story.
Of late, it has become increasingly popular in North America for shounen-ai titles to be labelled "yaoi," both by fans and distributors.
and shounen-ai:
The Japanese words "shounen" and "ai" individually mean "boy" and "love," which is exactly what shounen-ai means, boy-love. It refers to anime and manga that focus on love and romance (as opposed to sex) between boys or men (typically bishounen).
Some shounen-ai is pornographic but much of it is not. Examples of shounen-ai include Gravitation, Seimaden, Earthian, and Mirage of Blaze.
Of late, it has become increasingly popular in North America for shounen-ai titles to be labelled "yaoi," both by fans and distributors.
So, as you can see, Kyou Kara Maou! is not at all yaoi; it's barely shounen-ai. It DOES have shounen-ai aspects in it, but most of the time they are overlooked or put in for humor.

Ok, I need help here. They keep sying about how black hair and eyes are so important and the Maou has them, etc. etc., but what about Cheri? Wasn't she the previous Maou? But she has blond hair. What's up with that?
I also wish there was a way to distinguish humans from Mazoku, because it really doesn't hit you when they all look exactly the same.

The double black combination (black hair & black eyes) is very rare. It's a sign of great innate power. However, it's not a requirement for being the Maou. If it was, then there wouldn't have been a Maou for generations because very few of the people have been born with the double black combination.
The fact that you can't tell physically distinguish a human from a Mazoku is actually a plot in several story arcs. So while it would be nice if they looked different, it's actually important to the story that they don't look different. As far as I can tell, the only difference between the two races is what type of magic the person can use. Humans use one form of magic, and Mazoku use another.

10-22-2006, 05:12 PM
^ Yea. I agree. I think they made Humans and Mazoku to look the same so that it can promote what Yuuri's trying to do, make them live in harmony, since essentially the only thing they have different is that Mazoku can use majutsu and the humans, Houseki (Spelling? I'm missing a letter. ^^;;;) stones. He thinks that it's silly that they can't live together in harmony because of just that.

thank you ;) for answering my question.. I've actually read that def before but so many seem to be lumping more and more of the shounen=ai into the yoai category I was mislead.. not to mention atleast for me I've not seen any anime or manga that didn't have a story... Maybe my definition of story is a lil loose ..

Yeah, or you might end up saying, "I watch yaoi!" in a loud voice in public places...
@ LKK6144, if they're supposed to look alike, than why was Wolfram warned a couple of times that he has to lay low so no one will see him? And then he had to wear a hood and everything.
Go easy on me, for I am much slow. XD It took me over ten episodes to realise who blond Murata Ken was...it came to me as an epiphany one night...

Good point. That's an inconsistency, I suppose. In Wolfram's case, it might be not that he's obviously a Mazoku, but that ...
Wolfram looks so much like the most famous Mazoku of all time -- the first Maoh. If you've seen the episode where Yuuri looks at the portraits of the first Maoh and the Great Sage (or whatever his title is), you'll remember how much Wolfram looks like the first Maoh. My theory is that the humans have paintings of what their ancient enemy looked like. Since Wolfram looks so much like him, the humans would guess that he's a Mazoku.
But that's just a theory of mine. *shrugs*

I took a long time to figure that out too. So don't feel bad. Or at least don't feel alone. My husband figured it out right away. But it took me well into the story arc before I made the connection.

Ok, so its not just me. I feel better now. :p
Even after I saw his ID card with the black hair I didn't know who he was. I was actually upset that they had dropped the glasses guy from before. XD It was like...why do they keep showing him in the title song if someone else is becoming a main character? But I still don't like him much...

YamPuff, I asked someone who is reading the novels your question about why did Wolfram have to disguise himself since humans and Mazoku look so similar. I was wrong; apparently there are some physical differences between the races after all. He said that in the novels humans are described as plainer looking and less likely to have colorful hair. It's just not as obvious in the anime as it is in the novel.

Makes sense to me because the humans always DID seem to be a bit duller looking; and most of the mazoku have really nice hair ^^

^^ I guess, we love some and we hate some xD. When I first saw Wolfram in the anime, I really thought, "I'm not going to like this character," but as the story progressed, I don't think he's only a spoiled brat. He does care about other things than himself. The Yuuri-obsession is just funny in my opinion. x3
But yea, I'm not too fond of most spoiled brats.
