Oye, this was not the kind of news I wanted to hear about, who here agrees?

It'll never happen. There's no way it can possibly pass through Congress.

I pretty much figured on that, it was just not that pleasing to hear.

Ugh. When 9-11 happened, I had just graduated high school and my friends and I were freaked out over the prospect of a Draft. It frightens me. I think certain people are capable of fighting and others are not. I'd be useless on a battlefield. Just hearing the word chills my bones.
They try to do this every few years and it never goes through. I wouldn't worry.

"There's no question in my mind that this president and this administration would never have invaded
Iraq, especially on the flimsy evidence that was presented to the Congress, if indeed we had a draft and members of Congress and the administration thought that their kids from their communities would be placed in harm's way," Rangel said.
lol ya rite
Is this supposed to be like reverse reasoning to make them be tricked into passing it?

Gods, I love Charlie Rangel and his sick obsession with reinstating the draft.

I'd be interested to see the emigration figures if they got away with that.
...no, wait, they're trying to pass a white-list to prevent folk leaving, aren't they? Hmm.

with this government...i am taking the stance of 'let's wait and see'...i am pretty sure no one in the 60s thought Vietnam was ever going to become the useless bloodbath that brought in the draft

Considering the Democrats used the war in Iraq to gain control of Capitol Hill during the elections, the last thing that would happen is the draft being re-instated. They tried before when the Republicans were the majority. It was voted down 3 years ago and it was defeated 402-2.

Its hilarious that it is the Democrats who keep pushing to reinstate the draft while having a history of using the draft as a fearmongering tool.
