View Full Version : E-Manga = bad, Kinokuniya = good.

Digital manga has no collectors value & you can't exactly read it where ever & whenever you want (some places don't allow notebook compys, short laptop battery life, etc.) Also, you can't resell eManga if you get tired of them, run out of space, or purchaced on a whim & ended up disliking it.
Kinokuniya sells multi language mangas, jrock, OSTs, shitajiki, screen tone, ufo catcher dolls, & anime. I even saw a super dollfie there once. They're cram-packed with people from the minute they open to the minute they close. They don't get slow or easy days (poor overworked employees...)
Tokyopop could put up manga shops in malls, selling Tokyopop titles & charging rival companies small fees to sell theirs as well. That's pretty much all people were going to Sun Coast for anyway, & when they closed down & had clearance sales, the mangas & anime were the first things to be sold out. Putting up shops in quieter, less popular malls could improve other businesses & allow for next-door expansions of manga stores, due to lack of competition for shop space. Or Tokyopop could compete with Boarders & Barnes and Noble. (don't forget a cafe!)

...I'm lost for words. More importantly, you're wrong. completely wrong. See, if you actually consider it, it's more economically viable to just publish the things than to run stores as well. Apart from anything else, dedicated hobby/comic stores get less custom than full-blown general bookstores, da? So people are more likely to buy from bookstores than from, "manga shops", see? If it aint broke, don't fix it.

So, what's kinokuniya when it's at home?

The problem with this is that Kinokuniya is not everywhere. It's mainly in California. There are none in the South,(I.E Texas, my state) at least, not to my knowledge..
but you didn't really make sense in your post... so...yeah.

Yeah, just buy your manga at borders if you hate the e-manga. TP doesn't really care how/where you buy it as long as you buy it. :P

Personally, I suspect a Kinokuniya plant.

There's a Kino in Sydney. People visit from other states just to go there.
Times like these, I'm glad I live in Sydney. Kino, kara, ice-cream, purikura, gashaphon and toy machines that you can actually win at!

I have to accept I have read both. But not always from Tokyopop, because in Mexico it is really difficult to find it or in some stores it is bought really fast!! Obviously, you don't have to ask me what do I prefer.

There's one in San Jose near SF but I rarely go in there. It's cheaper for me to buy manga off the internet.

I like both. Its nice to have a physical manga in your hands and other times a web manga can be very convenient and cheap. Like all things, there are usually pros and cons

I personally love Kinokuniya. I went to the one in New York once but I really enjoyed myself. I so totally wanna go back again. They have uber cool stuff!
