What's the deal with the missing cards? Sakura's never shown capturing four cards, and she only ever even uses one of those four. And she thinks about using another one, but doesn't. It's like we got gypped.

Keep in mind they 'created' extra cards for the anime...52 total compared to the original 18 in the manga series. The most intriquing card...'The Libra' since it was never used, only speculation can be used on exactly its powers. Most believe it make a person tell the truth. I have my own theories but I hate speculating on things ;)

Oh i love CCS i read all the manga 3 or 4 years ago and watched all the jap version of the anime and some dub like the movies.My fave of her costumes is the lil cat one and the one she wears for the 2nd season opening theme.I also think her princess costume in the 2nd movie was SO cute!

Cardcaptors changed the very aspect and heart of the CCSakura series. It was an embarrassment to CLAMP and all of the CCS fans. Cardcaptors Uncensored has a breakdown on it. Dated but it's still interesting.

I like Ruby moon but i dont like the name Eli. I love eriol more and also becuz of the name change they coudlnt go on with the series here. they named syoaran, Li and removing the characteristict they made it imposible for the relation between sakura and syoaran to grow

True, they had a better relationship in the manga. Thank goodness Tokyopop kept the original names or id never have learnt of them! I like the orignal names better coz they're pretty and truer to CLAMP, but im just saying i don't mind the english ones

The pronounciation of "Clow" changed. Originally, Clow rhymed with "Go" or "Oh", not "Cow."

"Sakura Kinomoto" was changed to "Sakura Avalon", and Sakura is now pronounced "suh-KOOH-ra." When pronouncing Japanese names, no syllables are supposed to be stressed. That can be a little hard for some native English speakers, so instead the first syllable can be stressed for nearly the same effect.

"Shaoran Li" was changed to "Li Showron". His given and family name were switched, the spelling of his family name was changed, and is now pronounced differently. Pronounciation should be "Shau-ran" (Shau rhyming with "now").

Despite what Nelvana tried to tell you on their website, Kero-chan's original name was not "Keroberos". The literal transliteration is "Keruberosu". A suitable English transliteration would even be "Kerberos," but this word is actually the Japanese transliteration of "Cerberus." Also, the pronunciation is now "Key-roh" instead of "Keh-ro".

"Tomoyo Daidouji" was changed to "Madison Taylor". (You can feel the valley girl accent just from the name alone, can't you?)

"Touya Kinomoto" was changed to "Tori Avalon". (Tori? No comment. That's just too screwed up. And to think, you're supposed to believe he isn't gay.)

"Yukito Tsukishiro" was changed to "Julian Star".

"Mei-ling Li" was changed to "Meilin Rae".

"Fujitaka Kinomoto" was changed to "Aiden Avalon". (Aiden? Who thought of these names, type-writing monkeys on an LSD trip?)

"Nadeshiko Kinomoto" was changed to "Natasha Avalon". (Sounds like a Russian spy, doesn't it?)

"Kaho Mizuki" was changed to "Layla Mackenzie".

"Rika" was changed to "Rita". (Yes! They replaced an entire letter. Apperantly, this makes it easier for English-speaking children to understand.)

"Naoko" was changed to "Nikki". (Nikki, by the way, was originally supposed to be Sakura's name in Cardcaptors. I believe Nelvana decided to keep Sakura after the fifth or so Molotov cocktail they received from angry fans.)

"Chiharu" was changed to "Chelsea".

"Takashi" was changed to "Zachary".

Cardcaptor Rocks! It was my first manga! Anywayz, loved the manga-hated U.S. anime. I think they butchered it so much it isn't really Cardcaptor Sakura anymore. I never really liked the voice acting.......

Because Syaoran...er...a...'Showran' was suppose to be the big co-star with 'Sa-Koo-rah' on the English Crapcaptors so Nelvana decided the first 8 episodes weren't a need until after the first season ended, then they used the first episode of the CCSakura series as a 'flashback' episode to show how she became the Cardcaptor, along with clips of others shows that did NOT air in the U.S.

That's sweet, though I'm not surprised at the auction price. CLAMP are good story-tellers and artists. Tsubasa is such a neat idea because it takes characters from Card Captor Sakura (howbeit from another universe) as well as their other titles and makes a crossover with xxxHOLiC. Good stuff, especially xxxHOLiC.

Well, if I were rich, I'd have paid $18,000 for that picture.

I remember a long time ago when I watched Cardcaptors on Saturday mornings...Wow...those were the days...
I recently, (about a year ago), re-discovered Cardcaptor Sakura when I saw the manga in my local bookstore. I bought it and since then, I've bought up to the 4th volume. The manga is much better than the (american version) anime. I have yet to see the un-cut Japanese episodes though...

I'm not quite sure what you mean but...
There's two 6-volume arcs.
The first 6-volume arc is simply titled Cardcaptor Sakura.
The 2nd 6-volume arc is Cardcaptor Sakura: Master of the Clow.
I think this information is correct....and I hope I answered your question....

I haven't read the manga yet. But I believe the first arc deals with the initial capture of the Clow Cards. The second arc deals with the stories after Sakura has captured all the cards, when she was changing them into Sakura Cards. Am I right about that?

Yeah I think that's about right.

I was considering buying them all in one shot at the bookstore last week. So I was reading the blurbs on the back covers. I decided to wait until I finished with some other stuff I was reading.

Yeah....there's only 18 cards in the manga.
In the anime, they created more to make 52 cards. I'm not sure why though.....

Really? I don't know that many. The ones I can think of right now are: The Rain, The Wood, The Windy, Lightning, Shadow, Sword, Jump, Illusion, Water, Firery, Erase, Glow, and the Void card

The discs do not have any additional cover art within the box set. For that, you'd have to buy the 18 DVDs seperately, which will run you roughly $360 or so :eek:

I think??? came to america and they had it on kids WB, but im a guy, and i sorta stopped wathing something, so girly! Still, I wouldnt mind getting the manga and maybe even getting a dvd set.... theres like 2 different types of CCS manga tho, the original and a 100% manga version, which should i get?(if i even have time to get the series...)

I don't know what they mean by 100% manga. I mean, as opposed to what? 80% manga? 40% manga? The only two parts of CCS I'm aware of are "Cardcaptor Sakura" and "Cardcaptor Sakura: Master of the Clow".

I think my DVD came with the short. But I haven't looked at it in a while.

Hong Kong was controlled by Britain for a long time too. And it was a huge trade center. People from all over the world gathered there, bringing their cultural influence with them. It makes sense that baby names would cross cultural boundaries. Not only that, but Li's family didn't originate in Hong Kong. They moved there from somewhere in mainland China. We are not told exactly where.

If I can find boxed sets, I'll start collecting it too.

Keep in mind they 'created' extra cards for the anime...52 total compared to the original 18 in the manga series. The most intriquing card...'The Libra' since it was never used, only speculation can be used on exactly its powers. Most believe it make a person tell the truth. I have my own theories but I hate speculating on things ;)

Arcademan, you're new avatar is one of my favourite sakura figures!!! It's the one where she's in a blue tu-tu and big wings right? I plan on making my next halloween costume based on it ^_^. Does anyone else collect or trade CCS figures? I have quiet a few series and am always looking for more. I try not to use ebay except as a last resort - it's more fun to find them in the shops! My only gripe is that there needs to be more figures of Syaoran and the other characters...well, mainly Syaoran ^_^ *sigh*.

I have a kero hand puppet. I showed my older brother and he really liked it. He laughs every time he sees kero flying on the screen. He calls it, that little yellow flying thing. HEH

Amazon has all the indiviadual ones but not the box sets, as far as I know. I haven't checked Overstock but they sell out very fast.

i checked overstock the dont have it at all....or at least i think...., i have reason to believe that their were more episode than the ones they show on tv,i know that this is true, i want to know how many episode r there?

There were 70 episodes in the original Japanese version. The American cut left out at least 10 episodes.

Well, they cut every episode dealing with Sakura's family history. There were at least five or six of them. They cut the FLOAT card ep because of Kero's drunk scene. They cut the RETURN card ep because of that illicit affair. They cut the MOVE card ep because of that innuendo at the end. You get the picture...

Because it was very scandalous. It seems that Sakura's parents met and got married when the mom was a high school student and the dad was a young teacher. So they cut every episode that made reference to that.

Did they show the last scene of the MOVE card ep? The one where Meilin arrives at Li's apartment and walks in on Sakura eating breakfast wearing Li's t-shirt?

Because usually when a girl is found wearing a guy's shirt, it means that she slept with him the night before. But in this case, it was perfectly innocent. Her clothes were still wet from falling in the river. It was unfortunate that Meilin happened to arrive that day. Originally, that was the first time Meilin was introduced. And being such a jealous lover, she immediatelly jumped to conclusions. And that's why she hated Sakura for so long.
