On a different note, I was garage sale-ing the other day, and I saw one of those Cardcaptors books, the one with Sakura-chan in her uber-cute neko costume. I was very tempted to pick it up but I told myself I didn't need any Cardcaptors merchandise. It was in bad shape anyways.

I know this is kind of off-topic, but I just watched the three Piffle World episodes of TRC, and they were really good. Obviously Tomoyo would care for Sakura-chan in any dimension. Featuring in the first episode is Sakura-chan saying 'hoe' no less than three times, the first time she's done so in the series! And Tomoyo still has a thing for dressing up Sakura-chan. The three episode were very CCS-esque. Hopefully the rest of this season will be as good. ^^ Sorry for the off topic-ness.

I'm in the process of writing a fanfic, and I've been trying to nail down as many dates in CCS as I can, but I'm having to guesstimate on a few(e.g. Kinomoto Fujitaka's year of birth). I want to make sure these are all reasonable, so I'm listing them here. What's everyone else's take on these?

Hmmm...interesting timeline there. I can't say I have persued this particular senerio but it looks good. Of course it's based on Sakura's age at the time the CCS series began (Sakura was 10 when she started her adventures in 1996)

I can check but I believe his name was never revealed nor did he make an appearance in CCS though he was mentioned as an afterthought.

Sounds like you really did your homework on CCS. Have fun writing your fanfic and remember even if people don't like what you're doing or don't think highly of it, as long as you enjoy doing it and it provides you with a sense of pride in writing, that's all that matters :)

Oh, I'm sorry. I meant to take that one out. I'm writing all this in notepad, and I included that as a note of possible back story for Fujitaka. My first instinct is to say that the main characters in TRC never cross into another canon CLAMP universe or interact with canon characters, for instance the Chii in Celes is not the Chii from Chobits, etc. But since this is a fanfic, I took note that a certain Fujitaka was chief engineer on a steam ship. Perhaps at some point Grandfather Kinomoto tells his grandchildren how he was at sea when he was their age?

I actually have multiple sources(one is my memory) that say they married when she was 16. The most easily quoted(though not always to be trusted) is Wikipedia:
Her family disapproved of their marriage when Nadeshiko was sixteen.

I agree that Nadeshiko was 16 when they married. I remember there was a note in TP's manga that 16 was the legal marriage age in Japan. That was my first introduction to 16 being the legal marriage in Japan which several other manga I've read since have incorporated into their stories which is why I remember it from CCS.

I'm still trying to understand why they wanted to change a series that was originally intended for teenage girls into a kid's show. It simply defies logic. Why not just dub the show, unedited, and air it later at night? Why is this so hard for some companies to understand?

Well we have them as young adults, somewhere in the area of 17(dialog implies the flashbacks to when they were 7 take place 10 years ago).
But if you mean 21+, not that I know of. Of course, I'm only up to episode 31 and chapter 20, so there may be something later on.

Yeah, same here. I saw some simple spoilers on where the series is heading and it does not fill me with much confidence, especially with the role Sakura Kinomoto of Cardcaptor Sakura fits into of all of it.

LOL, check your sources buddy. CCS wasn't a teenagers show, it's a kids show, even in Japan. We just have different standards for what kids should watch.

And for those who don't know what shojo is:
The term Shōjo, shojo, or shoujo manga (少女漫画, shōjo manga?) refers to manga marketed to a female audience roughly between the ages of 10 and 18.

I read somewhere(don't have the link) that 62 or so percent of people who read shojo are 13-16. Since CCS is a shojo manga, it's logical to assume that the anime was aimed at a similar audience. Whereas CC was aimed at a younger, more masculine audience.

As for the standards, those are set by the government, which seemed to think something about CCS was inappropriate for children. Personally I don't like children, but if I had any CCS would most likely be one of the first shows they would see, before shows like Rozen Maiden, which are significantly darker. But that's just my opinion.

Okay, I finished rewriting my plot outline on my fanfic, and I figure what better place to gauge fan reaction than a CCS thread. So here's most of my work so far:

Prologue - 1999
Syaoran and Meiling are sitting in front of his mother, who is teaching them about foretelling dreams. They go up into the mountains to have such dreams. Syaoran dreams of a tower in which Sakura is crying, and Sakura attacking him with WINDY. Syaoran calls Sakura's name as he falls out an opening(window?) in the tower. He wakes up.

Part One - May 2009 - Sakura's point-of-view(pov)
Sakura, her brother and father, Tomoyo, and Syaoran are at a train station. Sakura and her brother are saying farewell to Syaoran and Fujitaka, who are going to an archaeological convention in Tokyo. Sakura waves as the train leaves the station, and then she, her brother, and Tomoyo head back to the Kinomoto residence. After tea, Touya and Tomoyo leave Sakura, who goes up to her room to study. Next morning, while Sakura is eating breakfast, she gets a call from Tomoyo, who asks if she's okay. Sakura doesn't understand, and Tomoyo tells her to turn on the news. Sakura does so and sees the reporter talking about a train wreck outside of Tokyo. It was Syaoran's train. She starts panicking, and Tomoyo comes over to comfort her. After dinner Tomoyo asks Sakura if she wants her to stay, and Sakura declines. Sakura misses a couple of days of school, all of her friends have come to see her, and then all of a sudden she starts acting like nothing happened. Tomoyo asks if she's all right and Sakura replies that she's fine, and then asks Tomoyo if she'd like to go out for dinner. Tomoyo, slightly surprised, agreed none the less. Weeks go by, and Tomoyo seems to not notice how strangely Sakura is acting. She's been too busy dating Sakura, and she thinks that all her dreams are coming true. Sakura's other friends notice though, especially Yamazaki, who goes to the same school that she does. Repeated assurances that nothing's wrong do nothing to alleviate their worrying, but they stop voicing their concerns. One night, out of the blue as it were, Sakura tells Tomoyo she's pregnant. Tomoyo starts to ask a question, but Sakura tells her everything will be alright. Tomoyo asks who, and Sakura tells Tomoyo it's her. Tomoyo, slightly confused, decides to accept the answer, and is overjoyed at the news. They keep it quiet though, not wanting to worry their friends more.

Part Two - June 2009 - Syaoran's pov
Meanwhile, Syaoran and Fujitaka, very much alive, have finished attending the convention and are on their way back to Tomoeda. Apparently, while at a rest stop they didn't get back on the train in time and had to wait an hour for the next train. They never heard about the wreck, so they didn't think to call home. Now on their way back, they hear people talking about the wreck and start thinking about what Sakura must've thought. As they pull into the station, they notice no one is waiting for them, so while Fujitaka heads over to his office to check on some things, Syaoran rushes home to find a very pregnant Sakura eating dinner with Tomoyo. Syaoran starts to ask how and why, but he notices that it isn't really Sakura. On an impulse, he runs out the door, and keeps running until he gets to Penguin Park, where he sees Yue and Kero discussing something. He asks them where Sakura is, and they turn, shocked, to see who they thought had been dead. He explains how he survived and asks again where Sakura is. They tell him that's what they were discussing, and tell him that they think her presence is coming from the amusement park. He thinks for a second and then realizes that the tower in the center of the park is the tower he saw in his dream ten years ago. Before Yue and Kero can ask what he's going to do, he starts running in the direction of the amusement park. As he comes up to the tower, he looks up to see a bright light emanating from the top of the tower. He races up the staircase, finally reaching the top, and sees Sakura crying next to a low, round table with two Sakura Cards on it. He couldn't tell which two from where he was standing. He called her name and she told him to go away. He persisted but she said she didn't want to talk to spirits today. He told her to use a Sakura Card on him to prove he's not a spirit, and she pulled out THE WINDY. As she used the card on him, he was knocked out of a nearby opening(window?), but he anticipated his fall and was able to grab onto the ledge. Sakura, realizing her mistake, tries to help Syaoran, but keeping two cards active for weeks has drained her strength. Syaoran is able to easily flip up onto the ledge, and he helps Sakura off the floor. As he walks her towards the staircase, she whispers that she can't leave without her friends. Knowing Sakura meant the two cards on the table, he helped her retrieve them, noticing they were THE MIRROR and THE CREATE, and they walk down the staircase together.

Part Three - June 2009 - Tomoyo's pov
Meanwhile, Tomoyo is washing the dishes from her dinner with Sakura, who is resting on the sofa. Suddenly, there's a knock at the door, and Tomoyo opens it to see - Sakura and Syaoran. Tomoyo looks from the Sakura on the sofa to the Sakura in front of her, and realizes that the one in front of her is the real Sakura. She asks her where she's been and what happened to her, Sakura replies that she'll tell Tomoyo later. Sakura walks over to Mirror Sakura, and tells her it's time. Mirror Sakura nods and gets up, heading for the door, and Sakura follows. Syaoran asks where they're going and Sakura says they're going to the hospital. Syaoran drives the four of them down to the hospital, where Sakura and Syaoran wait for Tomoyo to come back and tell them how it went. The next morning, Tomoyo informed them that Mirror Sakura had a girl, and that she would be able to go in the afternoon. After they get home, Tomoyo says goodbye to Mirror Sakura, and Sakura thanks her(The Mirror) before finally turning her back into a card. Then she tells Tomoyo and Syaoran that she's going to get some rest, and they say goodbye and start walking home. As Tomoyo nears her house, she see's a figure standing at the gate, and she wonders who it could be. When she gets close she she's that it's - Meiling. Meiling asks if she can come in, Tomoyo says of course. As they're sipping their tea, Meiling ask who's baby Tomoyo had brought home, and Tomoyo filled her in on the recent events. After they had finished their tea Meiling asked if she could have dinner with Tomoyo sometime, Tomoyo agreed.

Epilogue - July 2009
As Sakura, Syaoran, Tomoyo, and Meiling eat lunch at a restaurant, three figures watch them from behind some bushes.
A deep voice: "So, that's Syaoran."
A light and airy voice: "Hmm, it would appear so, Black."

I am, however, concerned about the scene in which Acardman uses x-ray vision on Sakura-chan. I hope very much that this character is not a pervert, but his prior darkness leaves me wondering. I am watching him very closely from now on. ><

That is indeed the TRC Sakura and the CCS Sakura and the stuffed animal is from Kobato. The picture is a crossover promoting the CLAMP in Wonderland series. There are many crossover pictures as I've posted a few before showing both Syaorans as well as the main female characters from the CLAMP series:

the smallest ruffle acts like a ribbon as it plumes out the back only and the other two is just two layers of skirt.

the under laying being as long as a wedding gown (so right past the feet and is let to spread across the floor so even if you walk your feet won't come out of the barrier of skirt)

the layer over stops just short of the knees and right at the no no place's general area (i can't properly tell) it splits out to emphasise the sash that wraps around her waist and the back bit that creates the third and smallest set of ruffles.

the rest is your standard shoulder-less dress with ruffles on the shoulder parts with long tight sleeves with ruffles on the end around the wrists.

as for the chest area...is it really as low as i think it is? I mean if she had boobs it would certainly emphasise them. anyway on that part theres a tie thingy that i dunno the name of (alucard and auten powers wears it) but it has some yellow object (a bell? in anycase seems to be big to be a mere accesory) in top!? where the view of her bossom would be...wtf!?

I've always found ruffles difficult to sew well. That thought alone was hard enough to contemplate. Added to that was thinking about the amount of material needed to make such a ruffled outfit multiplied by the price per yard of quality material ... and that's when my brain exploded.

The statue was described as a resin one when I saw it on eBay. I wanted to re-verify it however it's apparently been sold. At the time the seller wanted around $60 for it. If it appears again, I'll try and verify what it's exactly made of.

And now for a picture of, surprise surprise, Tomoyo-chan. It's really sad how few pictures I have of her, compared to the vast number of Sakura and Sakura&Syaoran pictures that fill my hard drive. Although Sakura-chan is my favorite character, Tomoyo-chan is the character that I identify most with. That said, Tomoyo-chan has all sorts of nifty skills, most of which I could never dream of having, like an amazing singing voice, the ability to play piano, and her amazing craftiness with a needle. However, I think about Tomoyo-chan every time I edit a video, and I'm trying to learn to sew(not that I'll ever match one tenth of Tomoyo-chan's skill). I identify most with her feelings and emotions though. Um.. that's all the inner me you get to see today. ^^ Enjoy the picture.

I like TRC, I only have a few episodes left and I haven't seen any really poor episodes. Of course I'm still pretty far back on the manga, so perhaps in the later volumes it becomes not so good? Other than that possibility, I really don't understand why so many people don't like it.

Slightly off topic, but I finished Tsubasa Chronicle and the Tokyo Revelations ova. I didn't have any major problems with the actual series(although the Kero Country episode was lame, think they used the same seiyu for Kero?), but the ova was not so good. The plot was fine, but I really, really didn't need to see Sakura-chan get beaten up like that. Many tissues had been soaked by the end of the ova. The Fay-vampire thing was interesting, and it was great to finally see Kamui and Subaru. Can't wait to see X now. ^^

I was looking through Sakura Tange's musical career and I noticed she had done the opening and ending themes for a show called Trouble Chocolate. Further investigation revealed that she also voiced one of the main characters. Has anyone seen this, and if so, was it any good(outside of hearing Sakura-chan's voice)?

Good luck! ^^ I was never much good at painting anything, also I would be too afraid of messing up. I wouldn't be able to forgive myself for getting Sakura-chan's look wrong. ><

First few chapters of my fanfic are down(still first draft though), so I took some time today to do a cover image. Actually it was mostly just thinking of a title, I had been calling it 'College Student Sakura' on a temporary basis, but since she's only in college this first part, I figured after school would make a good title. I already had the background image, so I just took さくら(the hiragana for 'sakura', as seen on the manga covers and the opening titlles of the anime) and put it on the top right half of the image, then I took AFTER SCHOOL WITH(in freestyle script font) and put that on the top left half. Pretty simple really. I'd do my own background but the only form of art I can do is sketching and I don't have a scanner, besides nobody wants a b+w cover. So, here it is:

That's no CLAMP work. That looks like colored pencils and CLAMP usually uses inks and sometimes paints, not to mention the style is off and their anatomy is much better than that.

Still it is quite cute.

CLAMP work is more subtle with the colors and the art style is way different than ANY of their styles but it is nice.

Heve to agree with you 100% on that. The CCS art books are a definite must that really shows off CLAMP's work on the series. Also CLAMP's North and South Side art books show them on all of their series.

There's more since that's one side of the room plus I have quite a bit of stuff packed already or not on display. The bookshelves have 2 rows of manga books and there's items in front of other items that are hard to see. I think it's the type of storylines in each series that more or less dictate the sides. Whites are the nicer series like Cardcaptor Sakura and Angelic Layer, the black the darker series like X/1999 and xxxHolic though some of the logic behind it doesn't seem to fit that motiff:

Well, there are 32 pieces in a chess set and with 3 pieces released with each issue x 12 = 36 pieces so there's 4 extras, not including Spinel and Kero.

Not all characters were represented (Legal Drug and Kobato) as CLAMP concentrated on the main characters of series though bias clearly shows with Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle (the most with three). X/1999 has technically 3 though Subaru is more intune with Tokyo Babylon. As I mentioned before, the extra pieces came via CCS.

I'm sure CLAMP knew all characters and series couldn't make it on the chessboard set and maybe why CLAMP in Wonderland sets were created to solve that issue though once again, bias shows with the duplicate figures from TRC.

My CCS keychains are slowly arriving. I'll try and take a pic of all of them once I get them all. Also I found a great model supply store near me whose staff are very helpful when starting out with a model or figure kit for the first time. I might just have to get one of those resin figure kits soon and give it a go.

Personally, I don't like the figure that much (I believe it a custom job) however having after sizing an avatar from it, I thought the face shot looked cute so there you go.

Thanks for the welcome, adichappo and arcademan! I haven't made any resin figures before...I actually got quite excited when I saw all the CCS ones because I do like crafty things and it seemed like a cool thing to do. But then I looked up some websites about it, and it seems so complicated! I wish you could just handpaint them, but it seems that everyone airbrushes and the models are quite expensive in the first place, so if I mucked one up I'd be pretty annoyed. There are definitely some really beautiful CCS ones out there, though...maybe we should all get our courage up and give one a try! I'll go check out the figures thread now.

Which ones do you have in boxes, arcademan? There are definitely some stunning CCS ones I saw on my search, like one of her in a big butterfly dress. I guess she is a good character to make figures of because she has so many cute outfits, hahaha!

yeah, the airbrushing thing kinda turned me off too - esp since what I read about it, it seems to take quite alot of skill to get right. But hinestly don't think you HAVE to use airbrishing to paint a figure. My husband is currently building a model of the Apollo Saturn V rocket and he's hand painting it all - it looks fine! Albeit, it's not quite as detailed as say..Sakura's face, but really...i don't think you'd use an airbrush to paint her eyes anyway. I think I willk give it a go - I'll let you know how it comes out.

They come up once in awhile on eBay and go for lots of $$$. The one I got I got lucky: $42 + free shipping. Came yesterday and as always pics don't do it justice.

I got two others recently (one you mentioned with the orange oven mitts and the gray costume one) unpackaged but well taken care of in a package set for only $28 which to me is a steal! I already have those 2 in their packages but the price was too good to pass up.

Well, most poeple complained when I posted pictures on a regular basis so I stopped awhile back. Plus my internet time has been tight since I was moving to a new house the past month and a half and though I'm in the new place, I still have lots of work ahead of me to be around full time.
