Jmetal=Jrock. Jrock is basically divided into VK, regular rock, and more alternative sounding stuff like L'arc en ciel. If you wanted harder stuff, VK would be your best bet since it's got varying degrees of intensity depending which end of the spectrum a band's on. Anyway, it's complicated. I guess what I'm saying is there's no such thing as 'jmetal', and just minor divisions in the jrock category.

If you're looking for lots of yelling and intense band stuff, something that's easily accessable and satisfies these categories is Dir en grey. You can pick up their US release of 'Withering to Death' at pretty much any cd store in the US.

I have never seen a copy of Withering to Death anywhere.

Oh well.

Never thought Target would have it.
I was told Hot Topic would definitely have it and I never saw it there.
I'm begiining to think there isn't a single copy for sale in Pennsylvania. X|

Meh. I don't really want the CD anyway. I'm just curious about finding it for some odd reason.

It actually isn't that bad of a cd, and the dvd in it is kind of fun. The live clips suck, imo, but the PVs are fun to have. :)

Dir en Grey and MUCC are my two faves. Even though Diru's WtD album is available in the states (I found it at FYE) I think it's better to order from the internet.

Moi dix Mois and Deathgaze... They're really the only bands I listen to I'd consider even somewhat metal-like...

Rentrer en Soi isn't bad. I liked them when I saw them at AnimeNEXT. I fell asleep during the concert but I'm weird and screamy music makes me sleepy so...yeah.

Lolz. Lamb of God isn't Japanese. >.>;;
Depending on the kind of metal you're looking for, you might want to look into Galneryus as well.

Dragonforce is seriously overrated, no joke, they speed up their recordings in the studio/recording center to make it sound like they play fast.

They suck live and they can't even pull off anything that they've done on their album's.

Guitar Hero ruined Dragonforce and attracted a bunch of retards, just 'cause they think it sounds cool or good.

I really hate Dragonforce. :Robo:

Edit: I thought this was just about regular Metal. >>;

I just now realized that it was about J-Metal.

not really the same as the bands you've posted but some Japanese metal/metal-ish bands I like are Blood Stain Child (melodic death metal with trance elements), Maximum the Hormone (I don't really know how to describe these guys, but they do the 2nd opening/closing songs from the Death Note anime), & there's also Dir en grey, which has also been mentioned...also a Taiwanese symphonic black metal band I really like is ChthoniC
