How Long Have You Been Into Anime?

I am wondering how many years everybody here has been into anime. I have been an otaku for 13 years. I remember buying my anime in the back of comic book stores on VHS and getting all my friends hooked on stuff like Akira, Vampire Hunter D, and the Castle of Cagliostro.

hmm.. I know I haven't been into it for too long. I think it's been... I can't remember! umm... I think I finally decided I liked anime was when Outlaw Star was showing on Toonami.

well I would watch anime from time to time since I was like 10, but I didnt really get hooked on it untill I was about 14, thats about the time I started reading the manga's and buying things related to certin series (so about 3 years tops)

It would have been in the late 1970's early 1980's.. Got hooked on some early morning cartoons and soon was in comic book stores looking for the VHS's of my favorite shows. Wow was it ever hard to find stuff back then!!

Until two years ago I learned all I know about anime. And in manga I started collecting it half a year ago.
However, I've been in the ignorance since the 92. When I started watching Saint Seiya, DB/Z, Sailor Moon, Ranma1/2, I didn't know that they were anime.

Let me see, when I was a lil kid we used to have cable, and I use to spend quite a lot of time in fron of the stupid box, so that would make it like 20 or 19 years, and I'm 21 going to 22, so you add up...:cool: :eek:

Lets see... I remember watching Digimon when I was 8, but I don't think that counts. If it counts then I've been a fan for about 7 years =P If it doesn' count then i've been a fan for about 3 years.

Since the early to mid 90s. Around where I lived as a kid all of the video stores required you to be at least 17 to rent any anime so my dad would get them for me.

He thought that they were just action cartoons like the ones that I watched on Saturday morning until he saw Mai naked in Fatal Fury and then he started to like them a bit too. :D

Only eight and a half-ish years for me. It seems like a long time, and my wallet wails every time I think about how much money I've spent, and it's chump change compared to a lot of people. I ought to go through and estimate totals sometime, if I could stand the pain. ;)

I won't lie, I got into it when I was seven. First Anime-- Sailor Moon.
That was before it was shown on TV, I was friends with this Korean girl in my class and we watched it at her house.
I'm 17 now, so about 10 years. I don't think I'll ever grow out of it.

The first series I ever saw was Voltron, though I didn't know until years later that it was a form of media called anime. I also enjoyed Ultraman and the original Power Rangers back in the early 90's when they were brand new. But if we're talking about the stuff that actually got us started, then it would be Gundam Wing and Dragon Ball Z on Cartoon Network's Midnight Run, about 7-8 years ago. And I estimated how much I had spent on anime and manga about 2 years ago, and it was over $7000 dollars. It's probably almost tripled in the last 2 years.

Since a year or 3...allthough before that(back in 94 orso) i saw a tv program about anime/manga wanted more information but didnt know where to look..the library wasnt much help.. and we had no internet.

Sailormoon has been my very first anime [and it's the best, so don't argue with me :P] and Inu-Yasha was the very first manga I've picked up. The exact day and time are: Sailormoon, I have seen it on was: May 6th, 1996, 7:30 on a Monday morning. :D

Well, it was my brother, and I was seven rather than four, thank God. Although I'd seen Akira before, the thing that really set me off when I was older was (the shame!) Gravitation. Thankfully, I got into the good stuff soon after.

Back in 95-96 when Sailormoon was being aired on a random channel really early in the morning. From then on out I was trying to get my hands on everything available, which wasnt much back then. My best friend at the time got imports from back home (China) and she lent them to me. Ramna 1/2 etc etc.

When i was 5 or 6 my favourite tv show was Voltron ('84?)...i always knew there was something different/special about the animation...back then i just associated it with the way the eyes were drawn...through the years i've watched Leo the Lion (Kimba), one i can't remember that featured a girl in Europe flying in a hot air ballon in a pink (?) dress with a little white kitten (if anyone known what i'm talking about, please help...this one has been driving me crazy for a while now) up to now with Cowboy Bebop, .hack and my all time favourite Cardcaptor Sakura ^_^
