New Wave anybody?

yes, i am an old bitch...so i love New Wave, but i have met alot of teens who seem to like it too...

i just thought i would give a shout-out to a genre that encouraged alot of androgyny.

Eh, I'm not what you'd call a "fan" as such. I've got a couple new wave compilation albums lying around that I listen to every so often (have one of them on my mp3 player in fact), but meh. Varying quality. Some's good, some's cap.

Probably because it's from back in the late 70's, early 80's. It was punk's much better looking sibling. Linksky (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Wave_music). Didn't cacth on outside of western Europe for the most part.

Not to be confused with the vastly superior New Wave of British Heavy metal, which occured in the late 70's and was sort of anti-punk whilst also incorporating some of the aesthetics. Punk's even-more-good-looking-than-new-wave cousin, to continue the analogy.

Anyway, it's a label that doesn't have any actual meaning because it changed so often so the whole thing's completely whatchacallit. Forgotten the word. Damn. Sorta, uh, y'knw, intelectual. Debaty. Not of any actual use. Bugger. Can't believe I've forgotten it!

New wave...new wave...hmmm....the only bands I can think of that I listen to that are of my understanding of new wave are Joy Division/New Order, The Cure, Devo and Depeche Mode.
