Mine varies. I don't really have any genres in specific that I like, I just like whatever catches my eye and keeps me interested. The genres of the anime I like are shoujo, shonen, action, romance, comedy, mecha, and a lot of others. Basically, I guess you could say whatever genres Fruits Basket, Full Metal Alchemist, Naruto, Full Moon wo Sagashite, Gravitation, InuYasha, Bleach, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Samurai Champloo (the list goes on and on!) are. So yeah.. there's a lot. :p

I don't have a preferred Genre, I'll either like a series or I wont, for example, I loved Trigun, first time I watched it I instantly wanted the whole series, but other series (serei? how is series pluraled?), like Berserk, for example, I just can't stand. All great things come with angst though! No angst = bad. Too much angst = bad. As long as the pictures are pretty (no one can stand bad art --; ), the story is good (good art is pointless without a story to tell), and the characters are love (no one likes annoying main characters!) then you have a winning manga! Or anime!

If I'm honest, my favourite genre is 'slice of life'. There are obviously genres within that, and many different diversions from the formula, but as boring as it may sound, that's what does it for me.

It is a bit hard to choose one specific genre, I can find anything to be enjoyable. But however, I do prefer anime's that have a good storyline that will really get the viewer into it, so I tend to watch drama anime's more often.

I'm a big fan of romantic comedy...whether it's in a sci-fi context or a mundane setting (loved El Hazard, Ranma, Ai Yori Aoshi). I like horror, but that's rarely done well in manga or anime (the Mermaid Scar OAV's were excellent).

Just give me something with well developed, likable characters and I'll watch it.

Overall fave would have to be romance. But I prefer the anime like Haibane Renmei, Niea_7, Honey and Clover, Paradise Kiss etc. The ones that are 'refreshing' to watch and you can really relate to the characters.

I adore magical girl shows, I know there often silly but they really appeal to me.. . I think on the same level as fairy tales and Disney movies still do. I also love seinen romantic comedies, like Chobits and many of Rumiko Takahashi's rom-coms. The only thing I find off putting is certian sub-genres of hentai: rape porn and true loli/shota... which I see a pedophila, yuck. Oh and "collect-em-all"/tournament shows like Pokemon and Beyblade can wear on my nerves after a while, though there are some expections.
