Death Note eh? whats it about?

It's one of my favorites. I'm only one episode away from finishing it and I hope the ending won't be terrible, a lot of good animes are ruined because of that.

"Human kind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of equivalent exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one and only truth."

O_O You don't know Death Note?

Well, if FMA is my favorite anime, then Death Note (or Ai Yori Aoshi ) is my favorite manga. It's really great. I'll get a sypnosis.

Death Note: Shinigami own notebooks called “Death Notes” which are used as killing devices. Whoever’s name they write down in a death note will die within 40 seconds. Shinigami Ryuku accidentally dropped his Death Note in the human world where it’s found by honor high school student Raito. With the death note actually having directions in it for its use, Raito discovers he now has the power to discreetly kill people, and with this new power he plans to change the world in his ideal world by killing off criminals. Eventually the governments of the countries around the world notice the unusual amounts of deaths of their criminals, and figure out someone is behind them, but they have no way of discovering it themselves. That’s when they hire L, a master detective, to find out who is behind the murders.

It's a kick ass manga that you should check out... like now.

fma has got to be one of my favorite animes ever... it is just a mix of romance *very little* comedy, action, suspence... just everything in on anime... i really hope that you enjoy it

I'm a huge FMA fan-I finished the series 2 months ago, and I saw the movie 2 weeks ago.

The end of the anime is really sad! But I thought the movie rapped it up very well. SPOILER FOR MOVIEAt first, when Ed went through the gate after being in his own world for a little while at the end, I was really depressed because it would mean he and Al would be seperated indefiantely. However, when Al popped out of the suit of armor, I was so happy!END SPOILER

The manga is also really good. I'm on volume 10, where it is really different from the anime. The encounter between Ed and Hoheheim is funnier in the manga.

And Ed and Roy make a really cute couple in my opinion! So do Al and Winry!

I love it too! Yay! I haven't seen all of it though, and I didn't know that there was a movie until recently. Now I have it to look forward to.

And is Death Note an anime as well as a manga? I've been meaning to read it, but the book I have is in Japanese, which I'm sad to say I'm not fluent in yet. It's really bugging me. It's in my closet. Right now. And I can't read it. :( But I will perservere...

I LOVE fma, though the ending is a bit of a surprise, I have 1-26 of fansubed on my computer, full songs and everything. The music for this series is great and so are the manga. I have yet to see the movie, it should be good.

I love Fullmetal Alchemist. It will probably be my favorite series for a while. The end of the anime is so sad, it makes me cry everytime. And I haven't been able to download the movie yet because my computer is being stupid. I've only gotten a chance to see the first half an hour. I can't wait for the OVA to come out! It looks really cool.

Favorite Homunculus: Lust, by far.
Tear-jerker: Never cried during the show. However, Sloth's speech about how the Homunculi did have memories, and how she still remembered being Trisha Elric brought me incredibly close to tears. Especially that last line - "If this keeps up, I may eventually grow to love you" - it just KILLED me. The fact that Lust died in such a CHEAP way during that episode really didn't help my emotions. <-- spoilers

Haven't seen the parody 50/51 or the movie, sadly. (In fact, I haven't even seen the actual 50/51 yet...^^;)

What's with all the questions? I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition! Hehe. Sorry, I just felt like saying that,
Anyway, I like Envy. Why? I have a soft spot for androgynous people. I don't cry because I'm stoic (and my face lacks mobility) so nothing in FMA made me cry. I haven't seen the parody. Nor have I seen the movie. Wow... I missed out on a lot of things.

I guess its profound contents was really what made it get to me, and what made me cry so much. Im such a crybaby, i always cry at anime, even manga, i cried in fruits basket when Hatori told his story.
FMA was pretty profound though, the whole equivilant exchange thing(or toka koka if you had subbed version)
Which provokes the question, did people see it subbed or dubbed?
I watched 1-24 dubbed, the rest subbed.
Which do you guys prefer?

Yeah i can see why so many people cried to Fullmetal it was very deep. I didnt cry though i never do haha. I watched a majority of the series dubbed I watched about 7 subbed and im gonna watch the movie subbed. I like them both equally both versions had voice actors that fit their roles and did a great job with the acting. I plan to watch the movie dubbed when its released even though im gonna watch it subbed today.

Our destructive innmost nature, our greed 6 whereto it can lead Us
but also of our great values aswell such as love , the feeling of justice,
it really shows human beings as they are with flaws and vitueswww.fullmetal-alchemist.com/forums/index.php?act=module&module=gallery&cmd=si&img=4121

Just thought of a good point
*warning-spoilers*
Did anyone start watching this and go, jeeses, thats some fricked up crap (i wish i could swear, baby swearing makes me sound like some born again or something) (nothing against born agains)
I mean, beginning shocking, caught me from the start.
But then later with Nina,
I was like,
"This is the first time ive seen anime really willing to go this far"
(it wasn't, ive seen worse, but that was all mindless gore, with fma it was totally different, I had no idea it was coming, and then I just thought,
if their willing to do that, well hell its gonna be one heck of a good series!!)

The manga is...well, not better, but I think more fan-friendly. Or Ed & Al friendly. I mean, in the movie...er...highlight for spoilers, yes? I mean, I can't believe that those brothers never hugged ONCE in the whole entire series, and then not in the movie either! They were so non-chalant about finally being together...it was sad...No one hugged Al except ROY! *hearts Roy/Al* and the ending...Gah... But, still, even with that, I loved it. Yay fdor FMA! I still like the manga better though, so much more crack-tastic fun ^__^

Yeah! More points for Animax Latinamerica. Haven't seen FMA on animax, thoug.
I don't have Sky or DirectTV :(
However, a friend of mine tells me that the VA in spanish, for FMA, are not very good. Is that true?

Dunno if theres already a thread bout this but there should be.
So so so so so sad!!
It made me cry so much!!!
Who was your favourite Homoculus? (can't spell)
What tear-jerked you the most?
Anyone see the parody episode 50/51? Hilarious!!!
Anyone see the movie?
Hopefully the ending of the movie means that someday they will make more...
maybe.
What tear-jerked me the most is when Lust died and Gluttony went crazy and kept crying, I wonder if he loved her.:(

Fav Homunculus--- Greed, he was sooo cool
Tear Jerker--- The last episode, I was literally on the verge of tears and i think that one or two escaped
EP. 50/51--- MY FAV EPISODE :DDDD that was hilarious the way he just sat there stunned for like half the episode lmao
Movie--- YES!!!!! saw it with subtitles on a website, they wern't very good but hey... I saw the movie at least XD
THEY MUST MAKE MORE becausethe fact that both ed and al got stuck on the other side of the gate... that is just soo sad, at least they are together but i say that they should make more episodes where ed and al fianlly find like a link or something so they can travel back but just like the philosophers stone it would take great sacrifice or something:D
NOTE: spoilers

Hehe. Haven't replied to this I believe. Silly me.

My favorite "Humonculus" would be either Greed, Envy or Lust. Can't decide. Envy would probably be my favorite, then Lust then Greed.

What tear-jerked you the most? Ep. 3 Mother. When Ed' And Al's Mom died (not a big spoiler eh?) And Ep. (#?) Words of Farewell when Maes Hughes died. Woooh now THAT was a tear jerker.

Anyone see the parody episode 50/51? No.

Anyone see the movie? I will when it comes out on Oct. 3rd to the U.S. I won't download it. I want the DVD with all it's extras!

I hope they won't. If it's a REALLY good ending then why bring it back? What would they try to do? Add more alchemist trying to bring back the stone? Naah.

It's a kick ass manga that you should check out... like now.

*after reading* Woah. I've heard the name "Death Note" before but never thought to check it out. Now I MUST! Thanks so much for the story sypnosis. Oh! And FMA is one of my FAVORITE animes of all time! If it's legions of fans aren't enough to convince you of it's awesomeness, listen to this!

It's won a.i. (Anime Insider)'s "Best Anime of" award for 2004 AND 2005 with staggering numbers in all fields! It's a wonderfully enthralling story with SO many plot twists, intriguing characters, awesome artwork, and fantastic music! I've only seen the dub, but I can say this with all confidence: whether you're a boy or girl, young or old, hard-core otaku or just diving into the world of Japanese animation, you have GOT to check out Fullmetal Alchemist. Trust me, you won't regret it.

I'd also highly recommened the manga, even if you've seen all the anime , the story takes a surprisingly different turn after awhile and there are numorous key differences in the plot! GO FOR IT!! :D (and yes, I realize I'm just a gushing fan of this series, but it really IS "9 kinds of awesome" as a.i. magazine said it)

so i should wrap this over with,
FMA is like the coolest anime to my opinion!

o.O

Vicious
07-15-2006, 03:35 AM
Too long? Of course not. 52 episodes is perfect! I don't think there were any fillers to this anime either! Well maybe one or two but still. in each episodes it helps us understand more and more about whats going on and the truth behind the Philosophers stone, and how the Elric bros come to grasp it.

^_^

Kurama
07-15-2006, 09:48 AM
Yeah. The series wasnt to long at all it was pretty much perfect. Im always looking forward to shows that are longer than the normal 13 or 24-26 episode anime but arent as long as something like Bleach,Naruto, or DBZ. Anyways though yeah Vicious there werent any fillers haha. But thats because the whole second half of the anime the last 27 episodes or so is a completely diffrent storyline from the manga. So i recommend you get the manga as well cuz its really great as well and Viz is already up to vol.8 (they'll be catching up with the Japanese release soon) also Viz has released the first Fullmetal Alchemist databook its called "Fullmetal Alchemist Profiles" its pretty cool i bought it and the "Rurouni Kenshin Profiles" books not to long ago their about $15 bucks each.

FMA is my favorite anime - it's excellent quality on all fronts (artwork, fluidity, plot line, character development, etc.). You just don't get many like that. Most tend to slack in one place and do great in another area, but FMA's just awesome everywhere. I love it!! ^_^

Also, the voice acting is TOP par. Seriously. Go watch it for the voice acting people, it's amazing. (Especially whats-his-name that does Ed's voice. Someone give that man a raise, lol.)

Honestly I agree with you! Plus it is pretty funny too, especially when Edward goes ballistic when someone called him short. But in some episodes it becomes pretty dramatic too, especially when Edward and Alphonse discovered their father's secrets and the philosopher's stone's as well.

FMA is great! I have to say it is so awesome. I think the anime is wicked and the movie is just brilliant! It made me like Roy Mustang more than Edward. (Vote goes to Roy!)

Also both versions english and japanese are pretty good, but for the movie I thought that the english version was more exciting although the japanese version was more funnier.

I really hope I get to read the manga!
