How bold can stories and the like be in regards to sex, violence and general adult situations such as drug abuse etc?

However bold the author wants it to be, of course...

I changed the topic based on what I assume you're asking about.

If its going to be very graphic or adult-ish, just mark it as adult when submitting the story. That way the kiddies won't get into it and you will be on the safe side.
On the other hand, I know of a submission that encouraged annorexics by showing them how to hide symptoms from their parents was deleted, so...

just don't go about writing a story deliberately for shock value really, just have a think about wether or not some people will like your story, or a lot of people will like your story. As it was pointed out somewhere, Tokyopop isn't held by the bill of rights, they have their own policies so i dunno, have a read of them :D
I have a yaoi story thats a bit gory(it has demons in it) with some heavy humourous shounen ai parts, and even though i could have written it way worse, I toned it down a little to appear to more audiences. Instead of explicit love scenes, its more humourous stuff, which suits my stye anyway :D
