I was wondering how many volumes there are in dnangel.
does anyone know? i have volumes 1-10 and book 11 is probably not coming out anytime soon. T_T

The series is actually still continuing in Japan, so I don't know how many books there will end up being in the series. For the longest time I thought there was only going to be 10; guess I was wrong.

DN Angel is a great manga to read..you can probably get most of the volumes in a local Barnes and Noble bookstore if it's around your home!

Well, yes, I'd say: kinda...
There are the same basic plot points, like Freedert and all those folklore things. But the pace is VERY different in my opinion... Like the confession with Riku comes WAY quicker. o.O;

I saw the anime first, and it felt like filler episodes all up to 19, and then I got totally hooked and in love. o.o;! The confession scene was just so perfect! Made me cry and dream so much.

But in the manga that particular point is quite different, liked it less, but that's my opinion (there was just less anticipation for it, because the anime focused on Daisuke x Riku, while the manga is all about making Dark's identity/past mysterious). The manga is still very good though. But sometimes it goes totally weird. XD;

But the 10th volume goes into something that wasn't in the anime at all. I'm really wondering what's gonna happen.

And I'm also hoping for this tiny bit of the end to be different: (ANIME SPOILERS, in white, underline if you wanna read!):
Hoping that the sick look between Risa and Satoshi doesn't happen. XD That was just WRONG, OH SO WRONG! Call me weird if you will. XD

I particularly love Daisuke's personality. He's just... honest, simple, even though he's anything but ordinary! He's clumsy but cool at the same time. ^_^

And it's like, you can suspect a big background story behind all of it. There just has to be a reason for Dark to exist you know? And you just know that reason isn't pretty...

Original? Not even. Its basically Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, twist the sexes around and throw in a harem for good measure. There is very little "original" about DNAngel. Maybe you could say that a "magical boy" manga is original, but there have been other mahou shonen before...

i was one that thought there were only 10, but to my suprise it was not to be. hearing there were going to be more made me happy but when i found out which was at the end of book 10 it made be yell, waking the house up (it was 1:00 o'clock in the morning). and i think the rumor started from tokyopop, they only listed 10 of i don't know how many volumes from the start (this was how I came to the conclusion that there are only 10) and just a couple of months ago they showed book 11 but no definition on that book.

probably what happened is the artist wasn't done yet with the 11th book so they didn't list it until after it was released in japan, I just figure this because the same thing happened to Immortal Rain. It just stopped at book 6 and I thought that was it, but it turned out it was just taking the artist a really long time to finish book 7 (still waiting somewhat patiently for that one) so yeah, that's my idea

I remember when I bought book ten for DNAngel around December...and I read it that night...(save the best for last, baby. ^.^) And I was pissed...I remember screaming, "BLOODY HELL?!" >.< It got to a REALLY good part and then they leave you off like that. But DNAngel is a RAD anime...and Dark is yummy...^.^

Actually, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne started in 1998, and DN in 1997. So DN came BEFORE KKJ did.
Besides, Jeanne's personality doesn't totally change and she doesn't become a whole new person, does she?
I've only seen a few eps of the anime, but it doesn't seem like she does.

If DN copied from anybody, it's from Saint Tail.
Read the description of Saint Tail from ANN:

Plot Summary: Meimi Haneoka is a 14-year-old student at St. Paulia Academy in Seika City who, during the night, secretly transforms into Saint Tail, a magical thief who steals from thieves to give items to their original owners. She gets help and guidance from her friend Seira, a nun-in-training, and she is chased by her classmate, Asuka Jr., who is obsessed with finding out Saint Tail's true identity.

The difference is that DNAngel may be the whole mahou shounen on the top, but it's a lot deeper of a show than that.
Plus, KKJ goes into a whole different direction than DN. DN focuses on the romances between the characters, and the growth of a boy into a man.
KKJ's not like that.

DNAngel has 11 volumes so far, and it's still ongoing.
By the way, the shortened term of DNAngel is DN, not DNA. DN is used so it's not to be confused with DNA2.
Also, for spelling purposes, it's
D.N.Angel or DNAngel.

@Balls: The manga is FAR better than the anime. I saw both and trust me, the manga is better

@Daisuki7: I assume TP's taking a break from releasing 11 until the Japanese volume of 12 is published. But really, it all depends on the rate the mangaka gets the chapters released and the rate it takes Asuka (the magazine DN runs in) to publish the chapters in manga format.
I know that Sugisaki-sensei is taking a lot of breaks from DNAngel, most likely because she's working on other projects, too.
Just be patient and wait for the next release. And remember, good things come to those who wait.
If you can't wait for TP's release I suggest you buy volume 11 online. It's available for purchase on sites like yesasia.

versus the anime? Yes.

The whole Hio arc is cut out, and the swimming pool ep is moved to the third volume.

The arc with Azumano Joyland is put in.
the scene where Dark gets stuck in the mirror world is different.
In the anime Daisuke went to the future and had to get a stone from his son (right?). In the manga Dark had turned into Daisuke, and Daisuke had to gather feathers or Dark's memory in order to get Dark back.

There is more stuff like this in the manga, but I'll let you read for yourself.

I've never heard Towa's voice, though I know Greg Ayres does Satoshi's. He goes to a lot of cons. ^^

there are 11 books out in Japan so far, and there are some chapters that haven't been made into manga format yet.
So yes, your friends are correct in saying there's more, though 12 has not been published yet.

D•N•Angel vol. 11 comes out in English in September. Vol. 10 already came out in December. The manga creator is still working on it though she is doing more on Lagoon Engine right now. (Buy that series too! The Lagoon Engine characters had a cameo in D•N•Angel volume 10!)

If it were to be anything it would be shounen-ai, not yaoi.
I think the cover's adorable, and not really shounen-ai at all.
After all, Dark and Daisuke are practically the same person, so a shounen-ai relationship between them would be impossible.

I think the cover's adorable, and not really shounen-ai at all.

Well, considering Daisuke and Riku are practically going out, I doubt even if Satoshi HAD feelings for Daisuke Daisuke would accept them.

Another reason.
Despite all the encounters Satoshi's had with Daisuke alone, and in a bedroom, he's never tried to do anything.
The closest he gets is saying how he's envious of Daisuke, though I kind of understood that more as he's envious of Daisuke and Dark's good relationship. He doesn't have the same kind of relationship with Krad. I mean, Dark would come out sometimes and go against Daisuke's wishes, but he never has really tried to hurt Daisuke.
Krad, meanwhile, has tried on several accounts to take control of Satoshi's body, despite the pain it might cause Satoshi.

Are you referring to the anime end?
Well, I think in some cases Satoshi likes Risa in the manga, but Risa's too obsessed with Dark to really take Satoshi into consideration. As for Satoshi, he's too afraid to like people, so he tries not to. Because he tries so hard convincing himself not to like people, he isn't as aware of his own feelings towards people.
So in a way he likes Risa, but he's not completely aware of it yet.

That's what I think, at least.
We really haven't been given enough information on Satoshi-kun to really be able to analyze him yet- especially when it concerns Risa- but that's just how he seems to me.

Maybe there isn't a bad guy.
Technically speaking, Dark is the bad guy because he steals, but really all the characters have their good and bad sides. None of the characters are really truly evil.
