I've read the original Saiyuki (Whichever one that is) and two volumes of Reload. They're all awesome. <3

Does anyone else think that the artist's self-portraits in the back are cute? XD

OOO yea they are kawaii, especially the ones of her and her dog! lol
The original is the one with Kami-sama for the finale... right? that one was wicked. But watching it in the anime with thier new clothes was drool worthy.

I love it so much X3 although it took me a while to get around to reading it because I didn't have the money to buy it, lol. Although I finally read the first original ones, and now I am reading reload.
But, what I always found wierd was that I was in love with Saiyuki before I even started reading it, like a long time before I started to, hehe. Kind of cool and wierd at the same time.

Is Gaiden still ongoing? More importantly, are there any plans to release it over here?

theres a big difference between the manga series and the tv series but its cool to read/watch both. (Fills in a lot of gaps)

Thats a good question... I wish they would release it over hear but i havn't heard anything about that. After a few years break Minekura has continued releasing Gaiden in Japan and its being released it Tankouban in Japan. As far as i know there are only two volumes out over there, but there are more chapters being released in Zero-sum WARD (very hard to get a hold of :( ). And i think that the end of Gaiden is soon as well... but i'm not to sure on that.

I thought that as well. The manga filled in quite a few gaps that the anime didn't go in to. Thats probably the reason i love them both!

I really like the Saiyuki manga, especially Gaiden. I am really hoping it gets released here in the U.S.
Reload is looking quite good too. My favorite volumes is vol. 3 with the Burial Arc. It's great to see some more scenes from the past and find out why the characters are how they are today.
Sanzo's was especially sad. It nearly made me cry. Goku's was adorable, but I didn't really like Hakkai's and Gojyo's. I felt they were kind of uninteresting when compared to Sanzo's and Goku's.

If you like the Burial Arc, you may be interested to know that they're planning on making an OAV of it. I'm really looking forward to seeing that. ^^

I know i loved reading the buriel arc... Ukoku's was an excellant story as well. I have to admit that i skip alot when i was reading Hakkai and Gojyo's story... but it was good stuff. It was nice to find out how Sanzo got in to smoking and drinking. It made me think... aside from the attitude asnd the killing he was actually an obiding monk at one point in his life. lol :p . Oh and FINALLY do we get to see how Sanzo got Goku, and what happend afterwards... thats another few gaps filled in.

Yes i have heard of the OAV and i can't wait to see it as well. I heard a rumour that it was going to be based on the buriel arc... but thats all i've heard. It would be really cool if it was based on that arc.

Hooray for Saiyuki! I adore working on this series, and it just keeps getting better.

There are indeed two volumes of Gaiden out in Japan at the moment (it was delayed for a long time because Minekura-sensei switched publishers), and it's slowly continuing in WARD magazine. WARD is quarterly though, I believe, as opposed to ZERO-SUM (where Reload runs), which is monthly, so while I don't think there's that much more of Gaiden to go, it might take a while to get there. As with the rest of Saiyuki though, I'm sure it will be well worth the wait! :)

Ahhh, Saiyuki has to be my favourite manga at the moment! I've read 'Saiyuki' and up to volume 3 of 'Saiyuki Reload'. It's just... love! The characters are brilliant and the story keeps me interested.. since I have a pretty short attention span it's rare for me to read a manga in just one sitting, but that's what I do with my Saiyuki volumes, as soon as I buy them XD

Saiyuki was my first Manga ever and I'm still reading it. This book is easily one of my favs. I love all the little messages thrown in like how the Journey is more important than the destination.

On of my fav. Saiyuki quotes: "Who ever said the birds were free? If they had no branch to land on, even they would regret having wings. True freedom is having a home to return to."

That's the business my friends!

The animation was excellant, i loved the story line, and we see Gojyo naked... what else could i ask for :p . lol. I loved that movie,... but then there was the other movie or OAV... i can't remember what it was. Its called "Kibou no Zaka", and i watched it once and thats it. I can bearly rememeber what it was about.

O and btw I love your Sig Riri_chan!!! so cool!

Saiyuki has got to be one of my favorite (maybe my very favorite) manga series out right now. I've fallen in love with the artwork...it's so much grittier than shoujo art, but it doesn't irritate me as much as most shounen artwork does. Really, I think the art fits with the story perfectly. And it would be lovely if Gaiden was brought over at some point; I'm all for learning more about Nataku. And I feel obligated to love any manga that has a character as interesting as Kanzeon Bosatsu in it ;)

Has anyone heard anything about any of Minekura-sensei's other works being licensed? Wild Adapter is an interesting, exciting manga and Stigma is so sad at parts that I almost want to cry (and it's full color! How can you beat that?). I've heard rumors for that past year or so that Bus Gamer was licensed, but I haven't seen anything concrete come out of that yet...

Ah, yes. The infamous shower scene. ^^;;;;

If you do decide to watch it, and see it in dub, keep an ear out for Goku's line. It's something to the extend of "this sucks" or "you sucks". It's really cute sounding. ^_^

Nataku's story is really sad!! Well thats IMO, the poor guy! And i'm with you there, i can't wait to see the end of Gaiden and learn more about Nataku as well. His dad makes me so angry!!!

Yes I have also heard rumours about Bus Gamer being licenced, I think Tokyopop got it. I can't wait for that, i love reading any Minekura works. Stigma made me cry!!!!! Such beautiful work and such a brilliant story line. I would love Wld adapter to be translated in to English as well, tha's getting very intresting! And honeycomb... so hard to find... but i want to read it!

Well, I absolutely love Saiyuki, it is one of my favorites manga series. Or maybe the best series I have read. I think it has the most beautiful artwork I have ever seen. And Minekura's style has changed since the first volume, it just keeps getting better and better, though I think Gojyo looked much cuter in the first volumes.

I just love all those chapters with the pasts of our maincharacters, for example, I love volume 5, how they met. And those Burial chapters.

But I can't really tell why I like it so much, I just like it...Of course the artwork, the whole story and of course, the characters. My favorites are the whole Sanzo's party, Kougaiji, Lirin, Kanzeon and Ni Jianyi (I was so shocked when I learned his "true" identity). But really, there is so many other series I could say the same thing, but in some weird reason, Saiyuki is so much better, can't really explain...;)

I have also read Gaiden up till chapter 19 (?), and I have the second book of it in my bookshelf. Well, do I even have to say, that I absolutely love Gaiden too? Tenpou looks so...<3 And because it is about the past of Goku, so of course it is very intresting. And Nataku. I cried when I saw his body being like a doll's... But I really want to know what happened to him, why is he now just like a empty shell or a doll. I really hope that Tokyopop will release Gaiden.

But I can't help but just wonder. Who on earth was that man sitting in the tree with sunglasses in Reload 2? At first I thought he was that guy creating illusions, Zakuro, was he? But now I am not so sure...

I haven't read that much of the manga, only little sections here and there. I don't have any money to get the manga:( . But I swear when I get it. Anyways, I've seen all of Saiyuki, including Reload and Gunlock. I greatly enjoy the series, one of my favorites. I guess you can tell that I'm a Sanzo fangirl. I think what I like best about Saiyuki is the characters in it. I have a certain connection with each of them.
