Hey people, I was wondering if any of you had ever seen the anime Spiral, I'm reading the manga, watched the first episode of the anime(and got even more hooked on it) and all but I'd like to meet other fans of the manga or anime.

I didn't know either...I just stumbled upon it online...It's just as good as the anime in my book. Then again, Ayumu is very well developed in both so I can't complain...So far, I've read about eight of the sixteen chapters I found online...and I've only managed to solve a case alonside Ayumu ONCE. There's so many freaking details!!!

The manga is a lot better then the anime, as always. In the anime, it was left as kind of an open-ended ending and it wasn't good. A lot of things wasn't explained as it was in the manga. The manga ended last year in Japan and it has A LOT more twists and turns in it.

The anime is still worthwhile to watch though, just don't expect much from the ending. XP

I wanna read the manga!!! Where did you find it, and is it in english?

I bought a deck of cards with the art on it, and I could tell some were anime pics and some were manga, my personal opinion; the manga pics were prettier. ^^ (They ususally are)

I guess I'm just posting to pretty much agree with everyone. It's a good show and definitely worth watching but you WILL have questions at the end. It's nice to know there is a manga they are always more in-depth about the situations. Share the site with us where you found it, please! ^_^

I am currently watching the Spiral anime series & really enjoying it. I love mysteries so its refreshing for me to be able to watch this type of anime.

Does anyone know if there are any other types of Mystery based anime out there?

Detective Conan. XP

But about Spiral... to be honest... I thought this was a really bad anime. Not bad as in "cool", but bad as in... it sucked ass.

First there's the intro theme song which I loathe, then comes the characters... and then came a decent storyline. This anime was the first anime that I regret buying.

I'm sure there's more mystery type animes out there... but to be honest... Gankutsuou (although there's a tad mystery involved), has a lot more drama and suspense that Spiral will ever have. Definitely check out Gankutsuou.

I love Spiral! Sure the characters' personalities are pretty stock, but the designs are sharp. And the mysteries are insane (insane as in 'good'). I loved how each episode would have a small mystery well building towards the overall mystery of the Blade Child (who are awesome bad guys: cool and even likeable but still menacing). I've only seen the first five episodes, but I would love to see more.

Other mystery anime? I believe there was an adaptation of some Agatha Christie stories a few years back. Mermaid Scar is really more a horror, but there's some mystery elements as well. Last night I watched the first episode of 'Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni - Spirited Away By Ogres.' It's a murder mystery that spans over 26 episodes, as is really, really messed up. I love it.

I thought they were just insane as in 'insane.' I remember thinking, Who the heck could have predicted those details, and why are they relevant? I was not particularly awed with any of the "I outsmarted you" bits, because they were just kind of stupid. If you like "I outsmarted you" mystery, watch Death Note.

Spiral wasn't bad...but it wasn't good either. I liked the character designs, but they look much prettier in the manga. They could have done soooo much more with the Blade Children's plight of existence, or even explained what exactly the Blade Children were. (Best tagline ever: "Who are the Blade Children?" // 26 episodes later: "Who knows!" )

Hmmmm...Spiral was a interesting anime indeed. I didn't really like it though. The only reason I kept watching it to the end was mainly because the artwork was nice. The storyline got VERY repetative very quickly. Someone gets kidnapped, Ayumu saves them with his extreme detective skills and the cycle repeats. And can anyone tell me why that one orange haired girl was involved in all of it . Another reason why I watched it is to see if I could solve the case before Ayumu could, which failed horribly.:)

Another reason why I watched it is to see if I could solve the case before Ayumu could, which failed horribly.:)

That's because the solutions were so utterly unrealistic! Like in the first episode, which I recently re-watched...how the heck did that guy have the opportunity to switch out the glasses? How would Ayumu have thought of this?

Ayumu would either have had to A) be familiar enough with the girl to notice that she was wearing different glasses before and after the set-up, or B) see the man actually switch the glasses.

A) It appears that Ayumu did not know this girl before the incident, and B) he obviously hadn't seen the switch occur, or he would've testified so as a witness.

And of course you couldn't solve the case as a viewer, because they did not even hint toward ANY evidence for this preposterous solution during the episode.

My, that ended up being quite a mini-critique. But I hope I have made my point about why Spiral is poorly-written for a mystery series.

Spiral is an awesome anime. It involves lots of logic and mysteries, and plenty of bishounen for the girlies. But several questions were not answered in the anime: Who exactly are the blade children? Why must they be killed? And what exactly is there destiny? I heard these questions were answered in the manga but i have yet to read it. Hiyo-Hiyo's playhouse rules!

i dunno. the anime bored me a little. i think the only good episode and the only one i remeber is when ayumu or whatever his name is plays this game with the whack little girl and they'r trying to get a tape or something. and he ends up unlocking a bomb around his neck. but the rest is kinda blurry
