View Full Version : Popping and Flagging? (redux)

1. WTF is popping, and how do I un-pop something?
2. Flagging stuff is all well and good, but it'd be kinda nice if we could note specifically why we're flagging something. Being required to write a short note as to why something is being flagged (i.e. strong sexual content, overt offensiveness/racism, art theft) would not only make the mods' jobs easier, it would also discourage people from flagging art frivolously.
As an additional aside, the TokyoPop site really needs a FAQ section (if there isn't one already - I have searched for one unsuccessfully) and a Rules of Conduct section. The TOS is fine, but very technical.
If anyone could help, it would be much appreciated. Also, this was originally posted in the Forum Help board on accident. Sorry!

This has been complained about before and as far as I know they're 'working on it'. Which, after putting it through my extensive translation programs, could mean anything from 'It'll never happen' to 'Christmas is a good time...'
:D As for the misplaced post, you can just PM a mod about it and he/she'll lock it or delete it for ya.

As I said in t'other post: popping means "I approve" and y'can't unpop. Why would you want to do that anyway?

Um, because I accidentally clicked the button and I most definitely do NOT approve? (I was flagging a piece for art theft and accidentally clicked the pop button.)

Thanks for being a jackass, jackass.
A "positive" button being positioned so closely to a "negative" button (neither of which can be undone if clicked accidentally) is a fairly large design flaw.
I completely agree; I said something simialr in another complaints thread. They don't even tell you what popping and flagging is, so most people find out by trial and error. I accidentally flagged a piece of work I loved. >< Bad move, that.
All I can say is to un-pop it, flag it. You know, counter the effect.

Well, what if for example someone loads a very nice piece of art, you really like it and decide to POP it, but a few days later you find that this art is stolen, I think un-popping should be allowed as long as there's a reasonable explanation, as for being simply stupid, I think that was a bit too harsh as anyone can make a slight mistake every now and again. I don't understand why people don't bother to POP but instead prefer to leave comments which are more time consuming... ???????? (<->_<->)

If you find out the art is stolen, just flag it or post a link to it on the forum so it can be deleted. There's a thread for that in this section, I belive. Un-popping doesn't do any good, it should just be removed. Popping is simply a way of making something more popular, to share something you liked with everyone. Its not a badge of honor or anything. If something gets removed I doubt they'll care how many pops it had.
I do think the desgin should be rethought out or something. Plus they need an FAQ, but they did say they're working on it. Anyone can make a mistake, its not stupidity. The only stupid thing is thinking making mistakes is stupid.
As for popping vs. comments, I would prefer comments every time. I want to know why you like or hate my work and I want to read any comments you may have on it. Popping doesn't mean as much, some people will pop anything and some will pop it by accident or because he's your friend. Comments are more personal and useful.
