Well it needs to be popped to get into most popped, and have been submitted in the last week or so t'be most recent.

I think I know what you mean-- when I click the manga link from my profile, it comes up blank. But when I click the "My Manga" (for settings, etc) my comic will show up. This happens with everyone's profile I've noticed, I hope it gets fixed soon.

Actually, I have a question of my own.

It says "No copyrighted which you do not own" etc. But one of the most-popped is a Gravitation fancomic. Are fancomics allowed, then?

With the self-moderating system in place at present, everything's allowed.

But that's a comic they created. If you make a drawing of supergirl, it's fine to do so. the art is your copyright. You can show it to people. You can post it online, just be sure to acknowledge that Supergirl is copyright DC Comics. This is part of fair use, where you can post a certain percentage of a work, or use a certain amount images for promotional purposes, like say in a review [vs. say, posting the entire original comic or anime online, which is way beyond the rules of fair use].
Oh, and you do own the copyright to the artwork, just not to the characters.

The only thing that would make it illegal would be say, publishing it, and selling it at bookstores across the country, unless it was a parody [and marked as such..... and even then, copyright owners are within their rights to take legal action if they feel it oversteps what a parody is, so publishers are careful about this], or if it's something like Becket's anime magazines, which serve to promote a given series, but contain completely new and original content about that work [vs. say, publishing copyrighted images or literature without the owners permission].

Most companies have no problem with fancomics, fanfiction, and fanart, so long as you stay within certain boundaries. [putting up the actual comics or anime themsevles is another issue, as you don't own the copyright to those, and rather then spreading love for a work, it's simply pirating the work. Making fanart, fancomics and fanfiction is the best way to share your love while respecting the creators rights.]

Not really the case. If something is excessively against the rules, TP employess WILL ban you, and this has happened to several people. And if someone points it out to them that rules are being broken, they generally will delete an item. This does take time, but I have seen a lot of artwork removed, and many videos.

Once TP has a larger number of moderators online, and has their infrastucture set up to be more efficient, you will see more removal of content I imagine . Anyone who posts illegal material is entirely at fault, and if TP choses to inform the copyright owners of your doing if it's really excessive, you could face legal action [though I imagine TP is more likely to give you a slap on the wrist, and just advise you not to do it again, and remove your material. And ban you if you go overboard]

But the characters are someone elses copyright, so going by the wording...

Another bloody cross-psot. Stop double-posting damn you!

Not the impression they've given so far. Self-moderation is how it goes dontcha know?

Well, I had a lot to say, and the 2nd post was a reply to SweetNymph, written before I saw your reply.
I don't mind at all if TP merges them into one, as I have no cares whatsoever about my post count. Go ahead mods :)

As for self-moderation, well, that means they expect users to moderate each others content to a certain degree. It's not that you yourself decide what you can and can't do. You still have to obey the rules. And if there's a really heinous occurence, TP's website people WILL remove the content, which is what the flagging is for. And several users have had accounts banned [TP does have to set it up so they can't register again though... from my understanding, quirks in the system like this are being worked on]. If you break the rules, you will suffer the consequences to some degree.

This is still a new website, and I expect as time goes on, we'll see more changes. With the more plainly worded, and far more stricter Terms of Service, the copyright warnings that pop up whenever you upload anything, even blogs, and this very forum for site questions and issues, as well as changes to the system to allow for more customization on the blogs [like the nice addition of banners], and the favorites options, it's obvious that TP is listening to users, and working to provide a more efficient website, as well as working to better enforce the rules. Sure, these things could be done faster, but I do appreciate that some work is being done, and that people like the forum mods and editors are doing their best on these issues.

Doujinshi and fanart technically use third party character design but I reeeeaaaally doubt that anyone will blow a whistle on that (especially if the artist has a disclaimer). Fanart is such a vital part of the manga industry that encouraging fan-creations means greater success for the series and more revenue for the official creators. In the first few days new-TP opened there were people uploading illegal scans of published manga. Now THAT'S copyright infringement XD.

Okay, so basically using a company's characters in my own story is fine so long as I'm not making money off it. Good to hear, since I'm about to start a fancomic. ^^

Thanks for the answers.
