Will Tokyopop pick up Gravitation 2?

If you are referring to the new tracks that are now available as paid online web comics, no, as Gentousha gave those to DMP to translate and host.
If you mean the second novel, Voice of Temptation, yes, I'm working on it right this very moment.
If you're referring to some other new hard-copy manga series I've not yet heard about for Gravitation, tell me allllll about it!

OMG THERE IS ANOTHER NOVEL! You are soooo lucky to be the editor!
I think it was the new tracks... Can't really remember the fan scanlator site but I believe it was that... It was called Gravitation 2 for some reason...

I wish I could read it in normal manga format, but I guess viewing them online is better than nothing. It's good to know that someone translated it online at least. ^_^

Waaah, I want Gravitation 2 in print really badly. I'm surprised that it's not out in print even in Japan, as far as I know! I hate reading scans, so I keep waiting and waiting, but I may just give in soon, as the situation doesn't look hopeful. >< Odd fate, considering the series' relative popularity. All the other stuff in that online magazine is basically crap.

Okay, about Gravitation 2, which I earlier read was to be released by DMP, why has it been forever since that was posted and they still have yet to translate it!? I thought maybe you guys got the rights to Gravitation 2 instead and what I read was completely bogus. Please oh please wont you help me put my mind at ease...no rhyme intended...
Thanks,

Well, DMP doesn't have a forum section where anyone can ask questions, so I got really confused. Its been forever, and this series is my favorite!!

This is veering towards Off-Topicsville, but DMP does have a forum where questions can be asked.
http://dmpbooks.com/forums/index.php
However, DMP's employees don't frequent their forum as often as Tokyopop's do. Still, you are welcome to join the forum and post your question. Just know that you'll likely have to wait for any sort of official response.

Oh. Hey thanks for that. I guess I didn't look well enough. Its alright if I have to wait, I just want to know about Gravitation 2, no matter how long it takes.

If you find out, don't hesitate to post the information here. :D I'm as anxious as anyone to know if we'll ever see Gravitation 2 in print.

It's being published in english online at this site where you pay to get it so I doubt they'd pick it up at the moment.

As kokoro stated, Graviation Remix is a series of doujinshi, so it is unlikely that those will ever be published. As for Gravitation 2, it was said earlier in this thread that the series was picked up by DMP.

"Picked up" may be too strong a term. DMI (Digital Manga Inc., the parent company of DMP) is currently translating the comic for Web Comic GENZO (www.gentosha-comics.net/genzo-e/). Their system has its ups and downs, and I too would love hard copies. Also, GENZO is not mainstream in the slightest, and their long-term viability in the US is unknown. As of now I do not believe DMI plans to release Gravitation 2 through DMP, which would require first acquiring the US license from GENZO. WIth the exception of the latest ADV aquisitions (Tactics, Aqua, and Peacemaker Kurogane) by Tokyopop, License acquisitions between US companies is near unheard of. To request the DMP release of Gravitation 2 (as I already have), hassle DMI at "contact@emanga.com". Let's hope for the best! And maybe someone could acquire Maki Murakami's other series Gamerz Heaven from ADV too...

Kyaaa! It's official!!
http://www.tokyopop.com/S-1865/1.html
Thank you very, very much, Tokyopop!! You came through! ^__^
Edit: Oh yes, and after I've calmed down, I've examined this more closely. The RightStuf Newsletter said you have "solicited the first volume." Does this mean you don't yet have the rights to subsequent volumes? Do they not come as a package deal? I have confidence in you guys to eventually bring us the whole thing, but I was just curious. And just because I'm nerdy like this, I am also wondering how you managed to acquire the license while DMP was holding rights to the content already. Is this something that can be answered?

I heard the 2nd volume wasn't out yet in Japan. But yes, we will be releasing however many volumes come out. "Solicited" means, more or less, the point when we tell bookstores they can order it from our distributor. This happens for each volume, a few months before it is released.
As to how the rights on this worked out, well, apparently the digital rights are different from the print rights.

Yeah, I thought it odd that I could find no record of a Japanese edition yet either! A simultaneous release feels really special. :D Congratulations, Shuichi, you've made it to the big time. (Tee hee.)
What translation will be used? Does DMP own the rights to their translation even though they don't own exclusive rights to the material? (I would think so?)
(Again, being a dork, sorry. ^^; )

AAAAAAAARRRGHHHHHHHHHH!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!! I pretty much owe my love of manga and drawing to Murakami Maki, I can't Wait to get this! (even though I already read it, but hey, I want it in my hands!!)
And how come people keep asking if TP are going to publish the Remixes? No one who's actually seen one could ask this - even if they were available for pick-up (as in, not doujinshi) They are little more than hardcore PORN! (and I mean it - you will never be the same again after seeing Gravi Megamix. Truly NOT for the faint of heart *shudder*) Last time I checked, TP doesn't publish porn!!
sentaku-san
11-05-2006, 04:04 PM
Yeah...well...they keep asking because Gravitation is a special case as far as porn goes. XD How often do you see an "official" such derivative work, by the original author, based on a popular franchise? There would be no way they'd be asking for it if Maki Murakami didn't draw it. It's still quite a long shot, but I think it would be rather nice to own the Remixes...I enjoy some of them more than others, but eh. Megamix is probably crossing the line though. Ew, I read one and found it difficult to tolerate.
I'm just happy we'll be getting more Gravitation though. Murakami's wacky humor, characters and drawings are bigger selling points than the sex scenes in my opinion.

Tee hee! I own every last remix and megamix there is! *suddenly realises that makes her sound like a total pervert*
I know what you mean, the appeal is entirely due to the fact that Maki drew them herself, it definately wouldn't be the same otherwise.
And about crossing the line... you're referring to the beginning of megamix panda (Yuki uke), right? Yes, I found that extremely hard to look at indeed. I'd never seen anything like it before and I didn't even know you were allowed to print that kind of stuff, but apparently you are. The only way I can let it go is threefold: 1) yes, I'm a fan, so it's easier to forgive because Maki is my idol, 2) Kitazawa is in the wrong and he's depicted as such and 3) Yuki wanted it to happen. But I still think we could have done without it. Sheds a whole different light on the character, doesn't it?!?!

Hmm...I don't believe I even looked at the contents of Panda. I read a Yuki x Shuichi Megamix (Kuma? I'm not sure...how many Megamix doujinshi are there?). It was rather disgusting for my tastes. The detail! Ugh. It's best to leave some things to the imagination, if you ask me. But maybe I'm just a wimp and not cut out for hardcore porn. ^_^;
I like Remixes 4 and 7. Sexy, cute and rather funny! -- the Gravi boys are better enjoyed that way, to me.

Yup, yup, that's Kuma. There are three (MM, MM Kuma, MM Panda) at the moment and a fourth in the works. Yeah, it certainly goes further than anyone else does! *goes pale*
My favourite I think is number 5. Yuki uke. There's just something about that...:P

Damn you and your copy-waving. It wasn't at Borders when I last went (even though they had other stuff that shared its release date ><).
Oh well, I was able to restrain myself from reading it online this WHOLE TIME (well, I only read SOME of it. :p ) I can wait a little longer.
I like your icon, by the way. Fuzzy godless feelings all around. :3

Yay godlessness! I like your avatar too.
(Any reason for the blue popsicle? An inside joke, perhaps?)
I read all of EX online (a few times), and bought it anyway because I like it.
<sarcasm> However, in the process of buying it, I lost my wallet with my school ID and 25$ in it! It's just THAT good! :D

LOL...I really just thought the picture was cute, and the main attraction is the pink towel. (Cuz..."sentaku" means "laundry." *glances suspiciously in both directions* Don't ask; there's really nothing to it except the fact that I think it's a funny word. XD) But yes, I suppose the popsicle is also...yeah. (I've had this avatar for a long time and I've been thinking of changing it actually, but it's not everyday I find a good picture with an item of laundry in it. ^^;; )
By the way, when you say "all of," does that imply that it's finished? I've noticed that only one book of EX was scheduled for release. It does have a big "1" on the cover, though...hmm...

I just think that that blue popsicle is sorta.. weird. xD
In Kingdom Hearts, Roxas (or someone else probably) has a blue popsicle too, and both seem to have yaoi jokes attached to them.
I bet I'm completely wrong in everything I just said.
Whatever. ^__^
Laundry is funny! I think pineapples are hilarious.
EX books on-topicness:
No, I'm sure there will be more releasing to do. (If they don't, I'll eat my sock. >:|)
By "all of", I meant all of the tracks that are available online. (for free)
