Okay, I would like to pose a question. I have recently found a great love for Tsubasa RC. Well, I watched the anime for CCS though now I realize it was highly edited.
Recently, I've contemplated buying the manga of CCS, but I'm unsure. Those of you who have read the manga, what do you think? Is it worth the read? Will I still enjoy it even though I'm older? I wanted to be sure before I bought a book set. :P
Thanks! ^.^

I am 23 (and a male at that) and I found the series to my liking. The idea behind it was cute-ish (in my opinion) but the story and artwork won me over. I also got into it through the anime that I saw in the US, but at that time I didn't know about the manga, etc.
I say to go ahead. I believe that it doesn't matter on the age of a person (or the gender), for if you find something you enjoy, then it doesn't matter what others might think.

The Cardcaptor Sakura manga is lovely, and don't worry about the age thing CCS has plenty of adult fans. It's a great read and well worth buying!

OMG! YES! Get the manga! I love the manga. The anime was butchered to a state of unrecognition. It had many points missing from it that were so apparent in the manga. So get the manga. The story is way better and the relationship between Yuki and Toya is more apparent (especially in the last volume of Card Captor Sakura: Master of the Clow.).

Well the dub was butchered but I thought the uncut anime was very good, not as good as the manga in places but still really good.

I love the manga! Definitely read it, the art is IMHO Clamp's very best, and the story is GREAT. The only thing that's better about the anime is the lack of pedophilia. :p

Get the manga! lol I need to finish getting the manga myself... I have about half the uncut original language anime series... and I TOO started with the butchered Dub... so... get the manga! (or the uncut subs, either/both work!)

Good...I knew I'd find a Cardcaptor Sakura thread here. Simply put...the best manga out there. Don't let your age get in the way...would you believe I'm 40?!! I have both English and Japanese mangas as well as over 200 pieces of merchandise (figurines, dolls, games, statues, etc.) in my collection :)

Cardcaptor Sakura was my favorite anime series for a very long time. The anime added a lot to the manga, I felt. (And less pedophilia? Which edit were you watching?) Like most magical girl series, the addition of new "enemies" gave time for much more character development than the manga had, and the chance to explore new situations that the manga didn't touch. The bad news is that the anime ruined the ending of the story. If nothing else, get the manga for the ending.
My best fanfic to date is the one I wrote based on Cardcaptor Sakura. It's the one I show off most proudly. I see no shame in it.

Also to add...if you decide to get the manga series, the usual price per book is $9.99 however some deals can be had in places like eBay and Overstock.com for back issues ;)

I gotta admit--CCS was the anime that hooked me into anime in a different way. I had watched some stuff now and then, but when CCS came out it was almost like a sickness! After that I tracked down all the manga volumes as well. CCS is Clamp at their finest. Get it, and just enjoy!

This is the series that first got me started into the whole manga/anime thing.
This s locally shown in my country and also dubbed. Someone asked me at school if i was into dubbing anime because he swore that my voice is like the one in the tagalog-dubbed version of sakura. Hahahaa. So, i watched it and loved it.
By the way, i was already 20 then, now 4 years later... I have 11 volumes of manga (can't find vol 5, grrrr) and the whole 75 anime episodes. I lost my copy of the 2nd movie.
Yup, manga is better than anime. Some important facts weren't mentioned in the anime, like fujitaka and clow's relationship, the division of power, relationship ni touya and yuki.

Heck yes!! (lol....sorry)
Yeah, the manga is great. Even for me!! (17 year old male) I currently have volumes 1-4 and I'm saving up for #5 and #6. I got into the manga a year ago, when I saw the first volume in my local bookstore. I saw the Cardcaptors anime a long time ago when it came on Saturday mornings. I liked it then (because I didn't know it had been butchered). I haven't seen the unedited version though...It's great to see other Cardcaptor Sakura fans out there. I don't think there are any except for me at my school. V.V

has anyone seen the first cardcaptors movie?
The first movie? Is that the one where Sakura goes to Hong Kong? (or whatever city that was) and fights that one person who uses water to fight with? (Yeah...I know that's hard to follow, my memory is pretty bad. V.V)
Kiwee

Yeah, I think that's the one. I thought that movie was a bit pointless, because nothing was accomplished, but it was an interesting watch. But I love the second movie, when Sakura and Syaoran finally, FINALLY get together!
I personally adore the manga, but the anime is pretty good. The editted version really turned me off Cartoon Network forever, though.
On a very random note, has anyone else but me ever wondered how the dubbers got "Madison" from "Tomoyo"? Honestly, I don't see the connection. At all.

Comparing the manga to the anime is okay but if you want to discuss the movies or the anime in general, we do have The Official Cardcaptor Sakura Thread (http://messageboard.tokyopop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=650) over in the Anime Sub-Forum :)

So hey everyone, I just went to the mall and there is a store where you can get 3 manga for 12 bucks. So I picked up SGT Frog Vol. 2, because I love that series now, and I also got vol. 1 and 2 of Cardcaptor Sakura: Master of the Clow. Now, I have never really read the original series, but I'll be collecting those soon enough too. I just think that I know how the story has pretty much progressed so far, so I just wanted to ask. Will it be ultra-confusing if I know the original storyline, but haven't read much of it? Because the back of the book pretty much explains it all, so I think I'll be good. I just need to know.
P.S.- From here on out, I'll be collecting the Cardcaptor Sakura series's. It'll add to my naruto and bleach and sgt frog series's.
P.S.S.- 3 for 12 bucks! That's so awesome!

First...let's do this:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/Arcademan/Cardcaptor%20Sakura/SakuraMove.jpg
Now...MotC (shorthand for 'Master of the Clow') is the second half of Sakura's journey in becoming eventually the Master of all the Clow Cards. It helps to have read the original series 1-6 (which you can now find in 2 boxsets re-released by TokyoPop). Basically, now that Sakura has captured all 19 Clow Cards and has become the Mistress of the Cards, what's next for our young Cardcaptor? A new mystic force has come and the power of Clow seems helpless to counter it. The result is Sakura re-creating the Clow Cards into a new force...not of the Sun or Moon but by the power within her...Star Power. Want to know what happens next? Collect the remaining books...you won't be disappointed by it...not one bit ;)

Have you spoken to the librarian about this? Many libraries participate in a book exchange program. If a book isn't at your local library, but another library in the system does have a copy, that other library will send the book to your local library for you to borrow it. It's certainly worth asking your librarian about. The worst that could happen is that the librarian will say it can't be done, right? :)

I bought the Korean translation of CCS (1 & 2) and the covers so so so soooo cute (much much girlier than the Tokyopop ones; they're probably just the Japanese covers translated though) <3 Can't read them though, since I don't speak Korean :( But it was worth it, just so I can look at all the pictures.
I actually haven't read any of the CCS series since it's taking forever to track down #1 (in English). Can anyone summarize the first book so I can finally read the second one

Especially since the manga version is different in so many ways than the anime. Let us count the ways... 19 cards in the manga = 52 in the anime series.

A Chinese girl in one but not in the other. (The single biggest difference in my opinion.) Are there really only 19 cards in the manga's set? Or is it that we only hear about 19 cards being captured?
Edit: *sigh* I just realized how incredibly stupid that question was. There's no way for us to know if the deck had more than 19 cards unless we had heard about them being captured or mentioned, is there?
duh.
I think it's time for me to go to bed.
