Don't let the cute avatar fool you! I love this book! Set in the London underground, "Neverwhere" by Neil Gaiman is one of my favorite books. Darkly humorous, you follow Richard Mayhew through a sadistic, unfriendly world.
Has anyone read this book? Or am I the only fan? *tear*

(The avatar is far from what I would call cute but whatever...)
I read Sandman. Written by the same guy. I never really thought of looking for his novels but, maybe I will...

*Raises hand* Sandman, Neverwhere, Stardust, American Gods, Anansi Boys, Good Omens, all of them good, I like the style he writes in, his pacing is very good, You can read for hours and hours and not notice.

Neverwhere's my least favorite of his novels... Good Omens and Stardust and American Gods were soooo much better, with Good Omens being #1 in my book. :D

Have you read anything else by Terry Pratchett?
He's damn funny.

Hmm... I've never read any of his other books. I'll have to check them out.

1) MirrorMask is my favorite movie at the moment. I've seen in 4 times so far, not including the time I watched it with the director commentary xD
2) besides his novels (and Sandman) Neil Gaiman's written some decent short comics, of which I've read Violent Cases and Mr. Punch
3) I personally didn't like Anansi Boys. Anyone with me on this? I found it dragged in the beginning and was a little too predictable
4) other than that, I love 'em all x3

I liked Neverwhere okay. I think he's a brilliant writer, but I like books with a more positive, if not happy ending. :)

I actually adored the ending to Neverwhere. Vague endings where you can kinda guess what happens, but don't exactly know, are my favorite xD Mononoke Hime has that kind of ending, as does MirrorMask (Gaiman's movie). It's just a personal preference though ^^;

Oh, deffinately just a personal preference. :D
I just like making up stories too much. If the ending is nebulous, it takes me hours to finally fall asleep because I'm trying to, based on what happened so far, plot out "what happens next". It's really a matter of restraint that I don't write a lot of fanfiction. @_@
