Pluto not a Planet

:rolleyes: Just when you think it couldn't get any stupider and more trivial, it does. Because scientists have made up a new set of rules to define planets, they chuck off Pluto, not interested in the amount of editing and fixing books, text books, school books, posters, computer games, and the internet that will go on. If there was actually any significence to this renaming I'd be allright, but its just a waste of money and research.

Any thoughts on the subject?

Yeah, they've said for the last five years Pluto isn't a planet, yet only just got round to removing it? Bah!

What I'm more interested in is how we're going to remember the names now that they've decided to add in another 12 on top of the existing 9-1.

I remember a song a teacher taught my class in grade school about the names of the planets... Now that'll have to be changed, too.
"First comes Mercury, then comes Venus. Earth, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. Uranus, Neptune... and last was Pluto... but now I don't know all their names."

Now why does plutos moon get to be a plnet and pluto doesn't?

I only heard about pluto getting demoted, not others being promoted to planets? As far as I know, the only reason Pluto got demoted was because if it didnt the others would have to be identifed as planets too, so it would just be easier to make 8 planets :S

I took a look at Wikipedia. Pluto is a dwarf planet, alright.

Actually, all of the outer Planets were notably bigger than the inners, so Pluto didnt really belong :S but it still sucks, Pluto is awesome. Not as good as Saturn of course but still... xD

Actually they were thinking of making it an asteroid because it just got caught in the orbit that's all. It stupid really, but if they get rid of Saturn...I'll really be mad. >:(

Crazy scientists...this is why I turned into an artist! I used to be a very avid marine biologist-wannabe--until I found out that the orca were now no longer considered a true part of the dolphin class, but were now formed into their own class. YEESH. the chinese zodiac is not nonsense.(im chinese) and i believe in it. i am a monkey and there is a clear resemblence between me and a monkey no doubt about it. so i for one belive in the zodiac.

more interesting, next year they are going to bore a hole under the surface of mars to find water underneath(they think so anyway) They are also going to bore through the ice in europa into the under water ocean below in 2010 i think, which really promises lifeforms. Its cool to imagine the lifeforms that may exist under the ice of europa, i bet they look really cool. What ive been thinking though is, What if theres huge monsters that just eat up the submarine? That would be years of preperation wasted huh?
