Hi,
Not sure where to go once I finish my comic. I definitely do not want to print it out of my printer. I would like to get it professional printed and binded by a company. I'd love to make this as close as possible to the current (5" x 7.5") novels.
Btw, I live in the USA.
I basically need some guidance on how to do this. Thanks!

EDIT: Also, since not all printers print alike, how would I know if my tones will print correctly at a pro printshop? I'd hate to finish my comic, just to find out my tones are printing REAL dark and have to re-tone the whole comic :)

Staples might be able to do it. I know they can bind books for you and such.
It is depends on how much you want to print. If just for small amount, I think you can get it done in kinko's, staples, or office max. For larger amount, you can check out the printers list of this thread (http://www.digitalwebbing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85060) from Digtial webbing forum. It should give you the information you need to know about how to self-publish. :)

Thanks guys! So Ouch, when you refer to "amount", you mean how many books I want to make or how BIG my comic is?
I have a black and white laser printer here, do you think that the way this printer will print (the tones) will be pretty much the same as Kinko's?
So I export my images to 13.7cm x 19.9cm (like www.pencilkiller.com says) giving me a little extra border around the edges, so when I go to Kinko's I just tell them I want this printed on 7.5 x 5 paper?
Thanks again!
Leo :)

I mean...how much book you want to print? But sounds like you just want some pages print out, I think your B&W laser printer can handle it. (if you have a 1200 dpi x 1200 dpi one, that will even better!) :)
If you go to kinko's (or do it yourself) Tell them print it off 8.5 x 11 paper (TP only accept page at that size), with 13.7cm x 19.9 cm image in the center of page. And remind them print it @100% and don't use scale to fit option.

I was thinking of using www.comixpress.com to print my manga, but there is something I'm not too sure of.
They say they prefer a PDF file. But what I don't understand is should I make a PDF that is 8"x10" in size with 5"x7.5" center images or should I export my MS3 pages as 5"x7.5"?
I guess I don't understand why print at 8"x10" if the final product is 5"x7.5". I wish I knew more about printing :) I have no knowledge of how this works.
BTW, if anyone knows of a better place to get my manga novel printed, let me know. Looking for places familiar with printing mangas if possible.
Thanks!
Leo

I've used both apps, and for me MS3 is much better for manga :)
Advantages with using MS3:
- Panel creation
- Perspective Ruler
- Focus and speed lines
- Word balloons
- Applying tones
- Inking is much smoother and nicer
- It's much cheaper!
If you won't be coloring, why use PS? There's no tool that makes it stand out for comics. But that's me.
Btw, what did that have to do with professional printshops lol ?? :D

They need to print on 8 x 10 paper and trim it to 5 x 7.5 later. There is no custom make paper at 5 x 7.5 size. Usually a "8.5 x 11" can fit to print two pages of 5 x 7.5, and with two side printing, it is 4 pages.;)

Thanks for the explanation, I see your point now.
Too bad MS3 does not have a option to export all pages into one PDF... that would be awesome! Not just for printing but for having online manga.
