As a game-loving guy at a manga company, I'm thrilled that I can now talk about the fact we're teaming up with Konami on a whole range of mobile games based on TOKYOPOP manga charaters and worlds.
I'm pretty geeked out to be working with Konami...they've taken plenty of my quarters back in the day. This is a great way to let gamers know more about manga and hopefully get them interested enough to read some graphic novels, too.
The first mobile game is based on Becky Cloonan's East Coast Rising.
The game has you defending New York from hostile New Jersey pirates and evil monsters. You sail the seas in the search of high adventure and fight the pirate ship Hoboken ...plus lots of other nasties. Visit the ragtag denizens of various destroyed and flooded East Coast cities using Map Mode. Enter Battle Mode and fire your weapons at a host of enemies on every voyage. Earn gold through successful battles to buy the repairs and supplies you need for keeping your ship and crew in top fighting trim. Strategy and planning are crucial if you hope to triumph over the villains at the end of each level. There's several difficulty settings and planned expansion pack downloads with more playable levels.
