I keep hearing most school related commercials promoting jeans. What's the point wearing jeans. Just because schools going start does'nt mean it's going to be fall when it starts. It still be to hot to wear long jeans and someone like me will get hot if wearing it during summer. >_<(I'm hot nature so I get hot easily)

It might be something to do with safety. And when it comes to something like that, they wouldn't care how hot it is.
Jeans are sturdier than cargo or track pants and are probably better in a school situation than other types. Wear and tear, protection in woodwork/craft/ etc.
It'll also save money. Two or three sturdy pairs or school jeans will last for a long time. Better than constantly buying new pants after quick wear and tear.

Jeans are comfortable D:
I wear them all the time, summer or no.

I really have no clue. I persanolly hate jeans. They're uncomfortable, and the most they do is show off girl's asses. That's what most girls at my school wear them for, even though it just makes them look like fat slobs.

they are very comfortable, that why i like them. they are nice to wear and are strong enough that you dont alwats have to buy new ones.
as for why they start advertising them now, that always happens. they are on sale now so you can wear them in 2 months, thats how fashion works. it why bathing suits are on sale in April.

it's all about finding a pair and style that fits you just right. it took me YEARS to find the right pair of jeans. most pairs i tried on hung too far down my hips to make me feel comfortable. For a long time all i wore were men's jeans simply beacuse they had no shape and I didn't have to worry about them being too tight here and showing off too much there. Finally i found that Old Navy just-below-the-waist boot cut jeans fit just right and now that's all I'll wear (i've always been a jeans person ^_^) . as far is wearing jeans at school..i wish i could have! I went to a private school so I had to wear uniform skirts for 12 years of my life...now anytime I see plaid I shudder.

Butt cracks or actual asses?
Either way... Wrong kind of jeans.
Super-tight jeans are what made me realize how bad crack is so I go for loose (mind you, not baggy) jeans that fit just right.

I think the big deal is just that almost everyone wears jeans. They're casual, comfortable, cool, and tend to take a while to wear out. Their easy to clean, so no worries about OMG will I dirty them? Cheap, so no worries about OMG will I tear them? They have various cuts and shades of demin (more for girls than guys, I guess). And they're the one piece of clothing you can actually have more than one of and not be considered a freak (2 or 3 pairs of the same style, size, brand, and color).
In short, they sell. And they sell more when on sale.
Also, I heard that the next fashion change in jeans is going to have higher waists. Probably a good idea. They can't go any lower without people getting arrested.

Be happy you don't live where I do.
Regardless, I hate: skirts, dresses, shorts. So the answer? Pants. Jeans. I actually used to hate jeans 'cause they feel really bad, but now I wear only them. It's hot, but whatever.

I prefer just a good old regular pair of jeans that's not too tight or too loose. The two types of jeans that I absolutely hate are the super tight low rise I see all the semi sluts wearing to school and the baggy jeans that are soo low, it makes the guys that wear them look like they've crapped their pants a dozen times.

thats true. people are going to get arrested soon. but higher waists? how much higher? my jeans arent super low, but they arent high. i look bad in high jeans...
to Blinded Stars. they wear it baecause they can. and beacuse it does not violate the dress code. there will always be girls like that, no matter if they wear minis or jeans. dont hate the jeans because of them.

Exactly... unless they're the baggy kind (I don't mean those retarted ones that hang below your ass ^-^)

the big deal is they're comfy, good-looking if you know how to buy clothes that fit and go with pretty much anything.
so in addition to all those reasons, chances are that jeans are being promoted because people like jeans and things that lots of people like are profitable.
pretty strange, i know.

In other news: most schools in Britain ban jeans. And anything made of denim. Aparently becasue it's scruffy and for various other reasons. Thus there are two sides to every story...

Meh, maybe not so much scruffy as informal. We're big on formality and politeness around here you know.

there seems to be this unspoken rule about simplicity and casualness being the fashion that will never die out. i.e. t shirts & jeans. there's even this rule that jeans go with everything. which is not true. anyway i guess for msot people it's affordable, long lasting, comfortable, & easy to match. i prefer dresses & skirts. :)

Yeah they do but most of the lads try and get away with wearing black jeans to school and get sent home as it's not proper uniform!

Not to mention some schools are stricter than others. When I was at high school, there was a "you must have either clothing with the school badge, or the school tie" rule. And as you could buy the badge seperately and sew it on to your clothing, that meant hoodies were in. As it stands that school has no set uniform below the waist anyway (well, girls are allowed to wear grey skirts, otherwise everyone should have on grey or black torusers, but that's about it) so the no-denim rule makes perfect sense in that case.
That and wearing uniform at a party is just wrong, and they had christmas partys, halloween partys, end of 6th year partys etc etc iirc. Going by the letter of the law you could theoretically go to school in your underwear, as long as you had a tie on. Not that anyone did.

well maybe they just tellin to get them cuz fall is comin and it would be harder to get them then. i know thats how it is over here. during the summer its easier to find the jeans you want but when fall comes it gets hader

jeans aren't really that casual in my city cause we like to get these foreign jeans that are different and softer so its consider the instyle thing even in the summer so jeans is just part of the style like how everywun likes cammouflage rite now. it just the style. so in my city kids still wear jeans in the summer when its 100 degrees but not me cuz i avoid it cleverly and stay in style so thats the big deal about jeans

Well, we don't have dress code in my country but I've neer gotten the hubbub about jeans. I noticed at school yesterday that "everyone" was wearing jeans. Probably around 90% of the people. I hate wearing jeans, they're tight, they're most of the time really light colors and they all look the same. Personally I've never found a pair of jeans that look good on me.

Really? I've got a pair that're a sorta very dark blue and not particularly tight. In fact it's popular around here for god knows what reason to wear really baggy jeans that only go up to just below the waist. Like people do in prison to show they're willing to accept.
...Thankfully I've never been one to go along with idiot trends.

Jeans have many things in their favor. They're *usually* made of tough, durable material. They have star power behind them and brand names, making them popular and fashionable. There's a huge number of different styles, colors and types.
But mostly, they have pockets. I hate pants because they usually don't have pockets.

Trust me, by the time school rolls around where I live you want to be wearing jeans. Between August and September the temperature drops about thirty degrees. Brrr...even hot people get cold.

because jeans save mom and dad money. they last, they take tons of abuse and they are one of the few articles of clothing left that don't require dry cleaning or hand washing. personally i don't have the money for dry cleaning or the time for handwashing.
as to the whole showing off the ass thing...most jeans are unfortunately made for people with no asses, its hard to shove a j-lo ass into some levi's.
but that is still no excuse for muffin tops or crack flashes.

Maybe next time I go to Kohl's or something like that, I'll get a pair of jeans. I've never had a pair of jeans before, and I see it as a hassle to try and find some that AREN'T tight, and aren't decorated with glitter and stuff. I'll shop in the boy's rack or something.
Plus, my friends keep talking about getting me a pair of jeans for Christmas. I should hurry and get some that actually FIT me, rather than them picking out some pair that fits, but tighter than I'd like.
I've been thinking about getting cargo pants, but they look really funny on me because I'm so short, and I've never worn them before. Hey, all I've got is stretch pants, and pretty much anything is better than that... I don't like them, but they're easy to get off the rack. I hate spending more than 20-30 minutes in a clothes store. It feels like a waste of time to me...
