View Full Version : Kaori Yuki's Greatest Work

So what do you think Kaori Yuki's best work is? Sure, everyone knows 'Angel Sanctuary' and its thousand and something volumes, but she has other works as well. So its the most popular, but is it the best?
Her one shots rock! And so far none of them have been licensed. Or have they? What about the psychopathic but hopelessly romantic 'Boys Next Door'? (My personal favorite) And 'Kaine' (not Count Cain). Or 'Neji'?
So what do you think is her best work? ;)
One more thing: this is irrelevent, but how many chapters does Ludwig Kaumei have? I got three so far? Does it end? Thanks!! (Well, its only partially irrelevent because Kaori Yuki made it...)

I think her oneshots are the best. :p I couldn't get through Boys Next Door because it was too depressing. :( I really liked Kaine, and I think I read a tiny bit of Neji once and thought it was okay. Another of her manga that I also really liked is Gravel Kingdom. I also liked Count Cain. :) I don't really have a favorite though. :D

i think her best is ludwig (or something like that i'm not 100% sure about the name) where she ''twists'' the fairytales, in that snow white is drawn amazingly! far better art than most of her works! (even boys next door!) :D
kaori sensei we loooooove you (<----irrelevant, i know-couldn'r resist!-):p
Countess Cain

Hmm. I don't really have a distinct favorite. :| I like all of the ones I've read so far...
Kaine was great, though. D:

The Cain saga was by far my favorite, but I am a really big fan of all her work. I hope some one will pick up Boys Next door soon, I would love to be able to read it for myself!

I love Angel Sanctuary, Earl Cain (including God Child), and Boys Next Door. I agree that Yuki-sensei's one shots are usually really good (ahem, Boys Next Door being a prime example).

Her count cain series along w/ god child and Kaine... ( its kinda annoying how she like used the same name for both so i forget if she spells the second c/kaine with a c or a k. but i know it has a e on the end. anyways... that series was gorious. (for the art work...)
if ur going for plot... definaly boy next door or the countcain/god child series... ilove how her art and story always has a dark theme to it. she's one of the rare artist who does it naturally but also on purpose yet not make it corny or stupid.

I love Kaori Yuki's art style, it's very very pretty. One of my favs, after Yun Kouga. But anyway....
So far Count Cain is my fav.(from the begining to where I am not in Shojo Beat, God Child). I love the story, and Cain's character even though he's tormented by his father.
What else do I like from her, mostly I've only read her one shots, Count Cain is the longest I've read so far. I liked Cruel Fairytale, but I can't remember what else I have read. Oh! The latest thing I'm reading from her is Fairy Cube. The story kinda of confused me at first, but I think I'm liking it now. And the art is pretty of course.

I really like Angel Sanctuary, but I have to say I love God Child as well, I would also probably like the other works, but, like stated, they haven't been licensed yet that I know of

Linking to scanlations is not allowed. Find it on your own or wait for it to get licensed and released in English.
My favorite is Count Cain. I really like the clean layouts (compared to Angel Sanctuary's cluttered pages, IMHO) and how the manga-ka ties nursery rymes into the mysteries. and Cain is such a pretty boy *_*.

I thought the Count Cain/Godchild series was better than Angel Sanctuary, but that's because it was a lot shorter and more coherent. Angel Sanctuary was great up until around the 12th volume; then it started getting muddled with all the different storylines/happenings going on in one chapter. I still can't remember the ending, I was so confused. :D

Well, I have only read Angel Sanctuary and the first volume of Godchild, and I have to say I like them both!
But Angel Sanctuary is still the better one, that was one of the firsts mangas I read. I like the way the story goes. (and Kira<3)
I really hope that someone picks up Boys next door! I haven't read it, but I have heard so much about it.

I have read only a bit of Godchild *has first volume and was reading it in Shoujo Beat* but I am collecting Angel Sanctuary as well. I can see why it would get confusing at some points due to all the characters, but I don't really think it's that confusing - looked at spoliers ahead of time - =)
I also read Boys Next Door which I enjoyed immensely. She needs more shonen-ai in her works! XD
I've read only two first volumes of Angel Sanctuary and first of GodChild (my favourite), but I must say that Kaori Yuki is awesome.
Does anyone know if 'Mark of Red Ram' (Akai Hitsuji no Kokuin) is licenced?
I like GodChild/Count Cain and Blood Hound, being the only ones I've read. I'm not interested in Angel Sanctuary.

Godchild all the way, for me. ^^ Angel Sanctuary was a pretty good manga... And there is so much content and so many characters to love as well. Not to mention her art was amazing for it, as always. But what bothered me most was the constant gender confusion with several characters, not even just one. And I have no problem whatsoever with people posing as a different gender at all... ^^ But when a story contains more than one character that isn't what you think he/she is... it's not that it bothers me whatsoever in general but it starts to get a bit confusing, it throws me off a lot. And that's why I couldn't enjoy it as much as I had wanted to, because I was always so thrown out of whack. That and sometimes it was kind of inconsistent... Good manga though. Pretty art too. But not something that I could really enjoy as much as other works of hers.
So in the end, Godchild for me! Although Boys Next Door was a beautiful one too, I thought. <3
Slightly technically off topic, but I really loved her character designs for the boys in the anime Meine Liebe. True she didn't completely do everything for the series herself but she did make the character designs and I loved the look of them from day one. <3

Oh,yeah. The men in Meine Liebe were SEX-AY. =)
If only Kaori did everything else, though, because their personalities were a tad cliche`. I desire to play the game it was based on now xD

It was blatantly clear to me the moment I saw a picture of Ludwig that it had been done by Kaori Yuki. And I was absolutely ecstatic, and went to find somewhere to buy it the moment I found that out. I watched it and Meine Liebe Wieder as well, mostly just for the character designs, to be honest. It was just so pretty to look at that it was hard not to. { Lui is major luff. <3 And the rest of them aren't bad at all either. ^_~ } Even though the story wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped for... { It really would have been so much better if it too had been done by her. } It could be rather blah, a lot of times. But even so I still don't regret watching it. ^-^ Because anything with her art is always gorgeous~.

But of course! Yuki-sensei can make anything good with her magical gothic touch, haha.

Yes... Oh heck yes. I mean Godchild... The clothing, the setting, the characters in general... { I'm in love with clothing and settings from that time period in general and so that's a major plus for me upon everything else. } I fell in love with the series the moment that I'd first seen one of the covers for it a couple of years ago. And the stories are brilliant and original, in my opinion. I never find myself bored or putting it down even for a moment when reading it, I get so completely and utterly enthralled. It's got to be my favourite manga for all of those reasons.

OMG, I totally know what you mean. I love people in frilly outfits (especially when it's gothic) which is probably why I like visual Japanese bands too. I wish we still dressed like they did in the late 1600's-1800's.

No kidding. If I could get away with wearing that sort of thing in public, I would. But unfortunately my parents don't really like that idea, even if I am nineteen... Plus I don't really want everyone thinking I'm crazy, and I don't like to stick out -too- very much. ~chuckles~ I also have a really extreme fetish for vampires, and so hence I love vampire stories that take place in that time period as well. Which is slightly off topic but alas... { And being a fan of vampires, I love that you have an Alucard avvie. } Have you seen Trinity Blood or VHD Bloodlust...? { The first Vampire Hunter D movie sucked though. } <3 ~/end off topic rant~

Okay, I am officially scared. We have WAY too much in common. Do you by any chance have brown hair and green eyes? LOL.
Yes, I am TOTALLY obsessed with vampires. It started with Anne Rice and went from there. xD
And Yes, I own VHD Bloodlust (D=HOT. PLus the animation was really good) and I can't wait for the Trinity Blood Manga. I also like Blood+/Blood The Last Vampire, and I want Guilt Na Zan to come out. I mean, a vampire Lord...as a doll...hilarious.

Uh... in regards to brown hair and green eyes, yea, actually... I do. O_O; ^^;;;; If you actually have brown hair and green eyes too, it's a little scary. =P Twins, seperated at birth. XD Oh ho~.
Edit: And yes, I can't wait for the Trinity Blood manga either... I've seen some pictures from it and Abel is as hot as ever. Honestly, best Krusnik ever. ~laughs~ { Well... Cain too. =P } And D, best dhampir ever, at least in anime. ~snicker~ { But wait, was it the novels for Trinity Blood that were announced, or the mangas? >_< ~sighs~ }
And and um... Just so I can still fit this post into the topic... ~chuckles~ Anyone else like Godchild, anybody? XD

I liked Blood Hound as well. I've only seen 3 chapters to the story though. Do you know if there are any more chapters?
