View Full Version : What exactly constitutes the 'Adult Only' label... and other questions

Now that I've been tinkering with the site for a day, I have some questions that I hope people can answer for me. I'd really appreciate it!

Questions:

1. Adult Only

What exactly constitutes the 'Adult Only' label for Art, Fiction, etc? I can vaguely identify what might be considered 'Adult', but what I consider suitable for teens others might very well see as being adult material. Please, can a site admin or moderator clear this up for me?

Also, why can't we see if an item has been labeled as 'Adult' or not? We're allowed to peruse through every other category, but we're not allowed to peruse through the 'Adult' section. Any particular reason why?

The reason I ask is because since there were no Guidelines posted in regards to what is 'Adult', I tried looking for similar works of fiction that had been labeled as 'Adult' to compare to. Of course, I didn't find any specifically labeled as 'Adult'.

2. FAQs? Guidelines? Huh?

Is there a Site FAQs or Guidelines with a listing of rules for this site? This is related to question one in that I was trying to find Guidelines for posting Fiction and couldn't find one.

3. Non-Photos in the Photo section

Why is there such a proliferation of Non-Photos in the Photo section?! I would think 'Photos' indicates a photography gallery and not a scan gallery.

4. The most popped fiction works...

Several of the top popped fiction works are actually only a paragraph or two long and are more of a plot synopsis than an actual fiction. I wasn't under the impression that plot synopses/story ideas were considered 'Fiction.' Does that mean I can post musings for story ideas in the Fiction department, too?

Whew! That was a lot of questions, but I think I'm done for now. Many thanks in advance to those who can answer them for me. :)

AniD your P.mind is going to kill me one day XD About the "Adult" Question i say its best to wait for one of the TP mods or admins to answer because i dont want to say ok to something that will get you in trouble.

As for the Rules they are found in the Announcement forum. Its the first sticky and as far as i know Will is currently working on an FAQ for the new site so please be patiënt about that.

Ahhhh ha! Gotcha! :)

Thanks for the info and yes, I did see a Rules posting in the Announcements, but they weren't very explicit and didn't answer the questions I posted here.

I'll do what you suggest, Mitzuki, and wait and see what a TP mod or admin says.

Definitely not me who needs to check a PM. :P

But really, what about a topic like artistic nudity or a drawing of a draped figure versus a picture of a smut scene?

Are both considered 'Adult Only' due to the nudity or what?

You see the former at art museums for all ages, but you don't see the latter, usually.

Also, depicting a makeout scene in a fic piece versus being detailed and graphic. I know in fic writing, there are differences between what's 'suitable' for teens and what's suitable for adults only.

I think that in either case there should be a more detailed rating system than 'adult' and 'not adult'. Writing.com has a great system for that I must say, whereas Deviant Art has just the two. There are a lot of in-betweens. The FAQ had better be pretty detailed.

Sheesh....Tokyopop is going to turn into Myspace....

^ NOT a very pleasant thought. @_@;;;

But I'll be patient and wait for the FAQs to come out. I just hesitate in posting my stuff because I don't want to get into trouble for posting 'offensive' material.

>_<;;;

How about this. PM me with what you think might be offensive. Ill ask the TPmods/Admin's about it and get back to ya. that way you wont break any rules and you can get your answer?
