I want to see the anime for Petshop of Horrors, 'coz I really liked the manga. I got kind of confused though, 'coz the second volume was the volume I read last :P.

I've read all of the manga. (Which was great, I thought.) I wasn't too impressed by what I saw of the anime... Which I rented from Blockbuster. It was all scratched up, so I didn't get to see all of it. o_O

D/Leon=Yay!

I hope the sequel to pet shop of horrors comes to America. I was sad when I read the last volume. It's really great. The stories have all those twists which I love. And the best character of course is Count D.

Are Doll and Dolls two completely different manga?

Anelis
03-17-2006, 05:17 AM
yes doll and dolls are 2 different manga.
doll has gothic art and is about robots and humans, is drawn by sukazu mitsuhara and is distributed by tokyopop.
dolls is ...well about a special kind of ''big'' dolls and is lisenced by viz.
i hope i helped you! :) they are both realy good!;)

I must say, Pet Shop of Horrors has delightfully surprised me when I picked up the first volume. I have read the entire series, but this was the very series that I picked up that employed mermaids into its characters. Granted, I am the world's biggest merphile, I always look for perfect representations of manga mermaids. Volumes 1, 4, 8, and 10 were the best in my opinion. Very good to study from.

One thing I don't get though is how DOLL and DOLLS come so close to name copyright infringement. Correct me if I'm wrong, but why make two manga who are close to being the same thing and having almost the same name. Both are about "dolls" who are either plant based or are mechanical androids. They have the same concept, albeit different storylines, they still appear similar. It's like comparing LEGO and MEGABLOCKS. Megablocks are just toeing the line of being on a copyright infringement with LEGO, but there's nothing they can do about it. I should know. ;) I worked for LEGO.

I'm presently still collecting the Pet Shop of Horrrors series and love it... (although a strange series) and I have completed Doll by Mihara, which I also loved (a bit of a disturbing series). I had decided to get the books based off of reviews on them from Amazon and the Anime Network.

PSOH was a very awsome manga, my friend got me to read it and I liked how they ended it, usually when I find I good manga the ending is always really bad, but this one was actually kewl, I was sooo happy that it wasnt a sucky ending^_^

I'm not one that likes creepy manga. Even if it's humorous. I might try some later, but for now, i like action manga!

Since no one has said anything about Doll, I for one think it's pretty good. The art is really beutiful and the artist is really smart. TOKYOPOP brought Mitzukaza Mihara out to Otakon last year who was warmly welcome by hundreds of fans, many of which were dressed in gothic lolita style cosplay. The artist was also a major influence on the gothic lolita bible. TOKYOPOP just released a title called "Beutiful People" by the same creator. I've been meaning to read it. I want to see how it compares to Doll.

Here's a preview of the cover

I love Pet Shop of Horrors...I own all of them. I've yet to see the anime version, but I plan to eventually. D is awesome. It's sad though. When I was reading the manga, I didn't know the series was 10 books long. I wasn't ready for it to be done. But I can reread. :D :D :D

I've read the entire Doll series as mentioned earlier and it's very good. I also recently got the "Beautiful People" one (which I thought would be a series but it's a single). I didn't find it as good as Doll (the stories) but the art is the same.

Both Petshop of Horrors and Doll are excellent. (Dolls, from the two volumes I have, is also good.)

Is Shin Petshop of Horrors a manga or an anime?

Beautiful People is, indeed, also awesome. I wonder what Haunted House will be like?

Shin Pet Shop of Horrors is the continuation of Pet Shop of Horrors after D leaves Orcot and LA.
D moves to Japan and opens the store there, and continues selling his special pets.
there are two volumes so far.

Pretty different from Doll and Beautiful People. Haunted House is a comedy (albeit a pretty dark one). The art, though, is Mitsukazu Mihara at her best. It has these beautiful chapter break pages that I'd love to hang on my wall.

The Petshop anime is good, if short. I like this series, kind of like outer limits or twilight zone stuff. Haven't read Doll, but now I think I'll pick it up.

i just read dolls 1 today, and i'm totally intrigued by it. it's amazing. i would have read volume 2 if barnes & noble had it - they only had 1 & 3.
i also started reading petshop of horrors today. i really like it. hope to finish it tomorrow if i get to go to the book store.

i read petshop of horrors and doll the other day for the first time. the only reason i haven't read part two of either is because my barnes & noble currently only has part 1 & 3 of both. i want to read 2 so bad. my inner (outer?) fan girl loves count d, and thinks he should make better friends with the detective. XD
