Dramacon's awesome. <3

I'm not really sure about the release date, but from what I've heard, it might take a little while longer... Since only the script's done, I think.

Well, I cannot tell if you are refuring to the overall series or just the next book, but I have already obtained the first volume. I found the story to my liking, and based on the information of the second one, I shall be enjoying that one as well.

((sorry if I missunderstood your assumptions))

Dramacon is just great. I'm anxious for the 2nd volume. I'm hoping we learn more about Matt and what happened to him in the next volume.

I love Matt's sister, Sandra. She's great!

And the little angel and devil Christies. Gotta love 'em.

I'm not really a fan of Ameri-Manga but this one is actually pretty good.

Now in a way it reminds me of Comic Party but in a woman's perspective and I kind of thought it was interesting.

I'm really looking forward to the next Vol. that's coming out and planning to buy it as well.

Christie, a junior in high school, attends an anime convention with her boyfriend, Derek, to sell copies of a manga they've have collaborated on. However, Derek seems to be having trouble controlling himself when pretty cosplaying girls stop by their table, and upset Christie runs off and meets another cosplayer, Matt. When it comes to Matt, Christie begins to second guess herself when it comes to matters of love, and she begins to see her boyfriend for who he really is. As the weekend passes, Christie finds herself more and more drawn to the mysterious cosplayer.

Here's a link (http://www.sunshinedixieland.com/sylviarose/dramacon/indexx.html) if you want to check it out.

...well it doesn't really help to explain what Dramacon is about but uh... it's a nice fanlisting. ^_^;;

lol you sound kinda like I used to be. I used to be all "eh? It's not done by Japanese creators? I think I'll pass..." But as I started reading/seeing previews and story summaries and was like "Hey... that's a good story it sounds like!" I started to warm up to them more and now judge a manga based on story and art (story first, always! lol) and not on WHO did it... (though of course I've got my fave artists/authors!) Think of it this way... read Webcomics at all? It's pretty much the same thing. ^_^ (specially since there are growing numbers of webcomics starting to get published... *waits anxiously for Earthsong (http://www.earthsongsaga.com) and Inverloch (http://www.seraph-inn.com) later this year*)

Back ON topic... I love Dramacon! I really wanna see how the story continues... but of course, I hafta wait with the rest of the hordes of fans... hehe but, I'm used to waiting. *sits 'patiently'*

I picked up a copy of Dramacon last night. Only had time to read the first few chapters, but it was great. Good pacing, the artwork was pretty decent and the author had a good grasp of Japanese style facial expressions and gag work.

This was my first OEL title and I have to say, I'm impressed. I'd consider more of these if they weren't all about being in a fracking band or some other boring premise. :p

***REVIVING THREAD 6 MONTHS LATER SO I CON POST ABOUT DRAMACON! DONT MISTAKE FOR NEW THREAD xD

AHH! So I finally read Dramacon. My first OEL. AMAZING! Love the art, the story, the characters, everything. Certainly MUCH better than some Japanese manga I have read. Dramacon has now become one of my favorites and I can't wait until volume 2. Tokyopop Sneaks gave me an entirely different view of OEL, however Dramacon has changed that. Im glad I couldnt find MeruPuri at Chapters and got this instead :P Really awesome!

BTW, is the creater on these forums? Would like her to know that she has a new.. big... fan xD

I bet if this was released in Japan it would get its own short anime series or something... :P

There are several threads on Dramacon... http://messageboard.tokyopop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=789&highlight=Dramacon That is the one that Svetlana responded to, which is awesome. Not so sure if she still hangs around though.

But yes, Dramacon is one of my favorites. It caught my attention right when I read an excerpt from it in the tokyopop magazine thingy (I could never pronounce the name, let alone spell it). I got my friends to love it too. Can't wait until the second volume comes out!

She spends more time (when she has time) on the Pseudome forums (by the guys who do Van Von Hunter).

She even posted some teaser pages from Volume 2, and it looks SO FREAKING AWESOME! I think the art may have gotten better, if that's possible. Apparently, it's going to be less light, which is fine by me.

But then, anything by Svet is fine by me. (#1 Svet Fangirl)

I want her autograph xD I mean seriously, if Inu Yasha is bringing such an uproar, imagine if Dramacon got its own series *insert starry eyes of hope here*

Dude, I'm already planning my AMVs for when that happens (since there's no reason it shouldn't happen, unless the series goes WAY off from the manga, which would be BAD).

It'd be SOOOOO awesome if Svet got to work on the Anime (which there should totally be), since she has a degree in animation anyway.

YamPuff

It would make a rocking anime; it has all the potential; the goofy characters, the crowded con. And it seems to be one of the more popular OEL's.

It's Russian. 30% less vowels than other names.

I love Dramacon because none of the jokes fell flat, I laugh at loud on almost every page and I identify with the main character. Chriss isn't some kick-ass girl the author devised as a role model for girls. The author isn't preaching to us some moral about something like other series I can mention *coughsteadybeatcough*. And I love each and every character. Its so rare for me to find I series or something I love to death--as you may have noticed--but Dramacon is one of them.

I finally got a chance to read volume 2 and I liked it a lot. Volume 3 should be a lot of fun, but too bad that's the end of the series. Maybe there will be a followup series that doesn't take place at a con. Or maybe the series will be so popular that Tokyopop will continue it past volume 3.

I think that's all Tokyopop contracted for. I think they only sign their OEL books for 3 volumes so they can judge the sales. Svetlana said in an interview that it could go to a fourth volume, maybe, if sales were really good. As it stand right now, I'd love to either see the series continued or see Svetlana do a followup series.

Dramacon 1 had a street date of 10/11/2005
Dramacon 2 had a street date of 10/10/2006

10/9/2007 seems about right for Dramacon volume 3.

Not only has the regular manga already seen print in Japan, but some of those mangaka have studios with assistants to help them produce the manga quicker than an individual could do.

Volume 2 was fun but it didn't seem as...entertaining as volume 1. It felt kind of rushed...well, not so much as rushed but it just ended quicker than I thought it would. Well the sales for Dramacon vol. 1 and 2 have been great! So have the reviews and the awards it's won! Surely a fourth book can be expected, right? It's done very, very well! And it would seem weird and rushed if everything was over and done with in the third volume.

We can certainly hope that a fourth volume (or more) will be published, but I don't think there has been any announcement yet. Maybe when the street date for volume 3 is announced there will be something. I think the street date will likely be announced during the spring, perhaps in April or May since that is usually when book publishers send out their fall catalogs. Viz has aligned their solicitations with Simon and Schuster's schedule so I imagine Tokyopop has a similar arrangement with Harpercollins.

Of Course Dramacon will come out with volume 4!! They can't just leave the story hanging like that! Matt and Christie have so many problems that still need to be dealt with and not all of them can be solved with just one volume. And what about her friend Beth? Will her mom ever allow her to take on the job of an artist? There definetley has to be a fourth volume.
