Tactics Manga

I have recently started watchoing a fansub version of the Anime and I know that there is a manga but I am not sure if it is any good. Has any one read it? If so, is it any good?:confused:

I've read the first two volumes put out by ADV and I really liked it. They mad a mistake though and translated a male character in to a female character and they never fixed it. They also don't seem to have any plans to release any more of it... They also put some text in some weird places. I'm really pissed t ADV, if only Tokyopop or some other company would have licesened it then maybe we'd get more of it. I still say you should buy it though cos it's really good and maybe if more people buy it some day they'll put out more!

Sugino and they made Muu a boy but I wonder if Muu is really supposed to have a gender anyway...

Why would they mix up the genders? ADV must have the worst translators...

Well Tokyopops done it before too. From what I heard the translations were actually pretty good. I think the thing is in Japanese there are ways to adress people without using their gender, so it can make it hard to tell.

Yeah it is dumb they should have known. But obviously they don't give two craps about Tactics anyway since they stopped releasing it and then passed on the anime. :(

I have all the episodes already, it's the only anime I have all of on my computer :P I'd delete it all in a second though if some company would would licence it :'(

Who would you think would do a good job as the dubbed VAs?

Hm I don't really know, I've been watching Detective Loki recently which is being put out by ADV, and it always reminds me of Tactics (cos it's done by all the same people) and I think that dub cast is good so I think that ADV could have done a good job on it. I'm not really good at picking VAs, I really liked the Japanese seiyuu that played Kantarou and Haruka and I just can't think of who I would have playing them in English. I'd like to see it though.

Tactics the manga is absolutely hilarious, I love it. I highly recommend it also :). I'm pretty sure that the gender switch on Sugino was deliberate, but it was a pretty stupid move imo, it ruined the second volume for me.

Is it shonen ai? I only saw episodes one and two and it slightly seems to point toward it...

I'm positive the gender switch wasn't on purpose, there's no reason for it. He's married to Muu-chan and I've always seen Muu-chan translated in to a female, I'm pretty sure that it was a mistake. Like when Tokyopop translated Kadzuki in to a female.

Hehe as for boys love it's not. It's actually published in a shounen magazine BUT the authors have drawn doujinshi for it. I've seen one, it was interesting :P

I haven't read more then the first volume of Getbackers, but I remember flipping through volume 8 to see what they did with Kazuki after reading Tactics Vol 2, I thought they actually got his gender right.

Anyway, I'm still not completely convinced that ADV didn't do it on purpose, did they say something about it? I thought they had the rights to the anime as well.

Yeah Tokyopop went back and made his gender right. ADV didn't because they don't care about Tactics and it doesn't seem like they have any intention of releasing any more of it or reprinting old volumes. They did have the anime but then they gave up the rights to it.

I read a bit of volume 1, it was very cute, and the art rocked. <33 I'm sad they haven't released any more of it /: Sucks. What ALSO sucks is that I auditioned for the anime, too! I was upset because I was really looking forward to voiceacting in it even if it was probably just gonna be a minor role XD;

I've heard it suggests shounen-ai but isn't really.

That makes me mad. Tactics was one of my favorites, I really loved the story and the really odd working relationship between the main character and his demon. It seems like ADV has been going down the toilet lately, maybe they should give up their manga rights to a company who actually wants/has the finances to release the graphic novels

WHAT?! For real? You auditioned for ADV? They were holding auditions for it and they they dropped it? That really sucks! I didn't know they they were that close to actually releasing it I thought they just prelicensed it, took a look at what they had and then dropped it.

I'm fine with the anime part of ADV but they licensed a bunch of manga and then they never went through with it and they cut off a whole bunch of series I was really interested in. And on top of that they're still licenseing manga when they have a whole pile of it that's not even released yet! They had some sort of contract with MagGarden (the company that releases Tactics in Japan) but it seems like they don't have it anymore because Tokyopop is releasing MagGarden manga too now. Aw maybe some day Tokyopop will get some of ADV's manga that they dropped... It's wishful thinking but I can hope darn it!

Humz i saw this anime aswell and i was thinking about buying the manga aswell coz mostly they give some more infor about certain events you see in the anime..but now after reading this topic i dunno its wise coz i want complete series instead of half series

I enjoyed Tactics anime, even though it was left quite open-ended. The movie/OAV is supposed to tie up loose ends, but I don't think it has been released yet.

The manga art is lovely. It's a shame ADV screwed it up so badly, switching genders on a married couple. I'm told the manga is better than the anime but I refuse to support ADV's version.

While it's not shonen-ai, there is subtext to support one's imagination. ;)

I watched the anime and loved it X3 I was crying by the end of it, for many reasons, one of which I didn't want it to be over, lol.
and ADV is just really making me mad that they stopped publisihing it. I mean, I picked up the first book a long time ago, and after just reading it once I had fallen in love with it, and then I had to wait like a year to get the second one, and now it has been another year and like everyone has said, I don't think they are going to continue it. It makes me really sad because it is one of my all time fav mangas.
I also finally bought Lokie Ragnarok, if only because it's by the same person. But ADV stopped it at two I think also . . . it's just so sad. I wish they would just continue them and not just stop them like that.

But yeah... I wish they would realease more vols of that as well x.x I liked that series. Sugino was my fav character.
