Fruits Basket Second Season?

1) The animes not finished
2) They are afraid there was to much time in between the 2 seasons (Everyone will forget)

I dont think thse petitions work allthough i want a second season aswell coz Kureno and Rin are 2 of my favorite characters and now i'm confused all the time did it or did it appear in the anime?! Coz some people only watched the anime and then they go like who's Rin? who's Kureno? Ohh yeah right they didnt appear in it :( And not to mention those people who dont read the manga coz they found the ending of the anime so wierd while that was just somewhat the beginning :S

Although a second season would be nice to add a little more closure, online petitions are about as effective as sending a message in a bottle. How long is the manga? Just to get an idea of how much story they'd have to go over.

it going be over 20 volumes not sure the exact number.a 2nd series would be nice but i wouldn't count on it. the manga is still being drawn and it would confuse people who hasnt seen the first seen the anime or read the manga. all through it would be nice to rin and kureno animated.

Vicious said that they're 22 volumes of Fruits Basket in total. In Japan, they're up to Volume 19. They only got 3 more to go. And here? We only got..*counts* 9 more volumes to go. :(

B) Online petitions aren't effective
C) I don't think it would be wise to make another season years later. You'd have to recap the entire story, otherwise the only audience'll be people who are already fans.

My sister and I are big anime/manga fans and we heard that there might be a Fruits Basket Second Season, we asked around and some say it's a rumor some say it's true.
There is even a big debate on one of the forums I go to. So I thought I should come and ask.

So, is there going to be a Fruits Basket second season soon or anywhere in the near future?

Well, FUNi did state at AnimeBoston that the cranes were recently sent off to Japan, and that they should get them in about a week or so. My guess is that the box of cranes recently got there, and we'll see if anything actually does happen as a result. But it's not out of the realm of possibility yet...

A second series might be interesting, but I just don't think they could pull it off well...

- Problems with voice actors, continuation & the difference between the happy/shiny anime, as opposed to the somewhat angsty manga, and so on...

Besides, from what I've heard, the anime was really created to get fans into the manga (like a teaser, so that people would go and read the books to find out what happens), and I think it works quite effectively like that..

If 50000 Japanese Fans sign they will probably consider a second season, it doesn't matter how many USA fans sign unless you can convince a rich backer to fund the project.

Only a certain amount of manga had been released at that point, and the little original material we did get to see at the end wasn't exactly the best ever. I'm just glad they never got around to that much filler, like Bleach etc.

I don't think there'll ever be a second series, although if there was I'd be over the moon. The manga's much better, anyway. :D

It would be cool to have a second season, but then again, if the director doesn't want to, you can't force him(legally anyway.) to, and if he did and his heart wasn't in it, we'd have a crappy finish to the Fruits Basket anime instead of the open, but still somewhat satisfying ending we have now...
I dunno. If he wants to make a second season, there's probably enough money and fans who'd be willing to pay for it, but apparently, he's not so interested, so...

And like a lot of people said, the second "season" would be pretty dark compared to the first, and that doesn't seem to be what the director is generally about, considering the first season of Fruits Basket and the Kodacha anime.

And in all honesty, a well done second season of Fruits Basket would send me to elation central, and I wouldn't be likely to come back, but unfortunately enough, I'm a pessimist and I don't think they'll make a second season...

YES!!! The Manga is better, but I guess the Anime wouldn't be able to place every detail placed in the books to meet the same standards. I guess with the Manga you can use your imagination and take your own reading into it, but the Anime shows you how they want it to be perceived but the voice acting is hilarious i.e. Shigeru-san and Ayami-san. I can say this much though, I've learned the basics in Japanese now so YAAYYY to that!

Also, in the last few episodes it only just touches a dark glimpse of the overall "Juunishi Curse" I would like it if they had carried on... also since I read some spoilers [GGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR] which I wish I hadn't have read, it just made me wanna skip reading the Mangas and crave for a second season and thereafter MORE seasons of Fruits Basket...

I WANT MOOOOREEEE!! And also, since I don't have much money, my local library doesn't have that many volumes of Fruits Basket, and everyone loans them for soooo long!!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who's heard/found this site and wants to pass it on! I've been attaching this link to my sigs on almost every forum and/or site I've joined.

And actually, I don't believe this effort is pointless. Or that it won't make any difference to the creators and companies involved. I read at the back of one of the mangas I read (can't recall which one exactly) where the company manager stated how companies use fans' letters and artwork, etc. to determine how popular that series is and if they should keep it on or drop it.

This lead me to conclude that fans' words and opinions DO affect the series they love. I've always seen a petition for fans to write hand-written letters to the editors to try and stop the replacing of all the Voice Acting staff of another series. I think when the signatures reach a large, even number (maybe 7000 since it's closest to that now) that the results should be printed out and sent by hand to the editors or whoever's voice people think will bare the most weight in the ending results.

Yea, that was the same emotion that came across me until I looked into the boards to find out more about Fruits Basket and everyone was saying it's unlikely, and I can understand why.

But couldn't they just repeat the old ones just weehile they're making the second season, they'd have like 26 weeeks if Fruits Basket season 1 weeere to be showen once a weeek... otherweise rerun the 1st season before they air the 2nd :(

It's not coming out. This is just a petition for it, but online petitions never accomplish anything--especially English online petitions where the only people who have any power to respond to it are Japanese people who don't speak English. Plus it's a very rare instance when a long-over anime series gets a random renewal for a second season just because it's growing popularity in America. I highly doubt it will happen.

If this really is the # 1 shoujo manga / anime series in the world, then the executives would be absolutely stupid not to continue on the anime series now that the manga story is completed and they know where to go with it.

It doesn't matter how much time there is between the release of the seasons. There are new Furuba fans being created all the time. I'm 33 and I saw/read Furuba for the first time in 2008 - years after the series was initially created. I adore both the anime and the manga, and I own both. And if they make more of the anime, then I will buy more of the anime. It's that simple. And there are lots of people who feel the way I do.

If they're looking for a cash cow, then look no further. The Fruits Basket series is money in the bank. It's popular, it's unique in its story, and it's a great family-friendly story.

The more time they wait, the more people will lose hope that it'll ever happen. They just need to make the decision to do it. There are many fan sites that will report it. Word will get around when it does happen. It WILL pay off.
