So, we all know he's a genius but which is your favourite?
Personally I really love Princess Mononoke

Erm, this isn't the right place for this thread is it?

Not a bad thing but you're missing out! Ok, maybe a little bad, hehe.
I recommend his work though. He's the japanese Walt Disney only better

this thread is very similar to the miyazaki-sama thread on the people part of the forum; oh well - i s'pose 'hayao miyazaki' is a clearer thread name - anyways it's all gd stuff

Yes, it's very sweet and well worth buying! Only thing is that it can seem "slow" or "lacking in action" but it's a lovely movie if you like cute movies and/or coming-of-age stories.

I find Miyazaki to be very over rated. I mean, yeah, the guy's good, but...I'd rather watch a whole bunch of other anime than a Miyazaki movie.

Princess Mononoke was the first one I watched, then Turner Classic Movies showed many of them in January and I enjoyed them all. My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away quickly became my favorites :)

The first one I saw was Princess Mononoke. Then I saw Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle. To the best of my knowledge I think they are the only ones I've seen by him. But Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle are the best.

I honestly can't say that I have an absolute favorite by him, but I love Howl's Moving Castle, Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind, and Lupin The 3rd: Castle of Cagliostro.

If you like animated cats you should definately watch Baron: The Cat Returns. They are sooo cute.

I really like them all! Kiki's you should watch too. I love Mononoke, but I think Spirited Away is better.

Miyazaki! I think each and everyone of his movies are absolutely amazing...it's like..perfect animation, soundtrack, voices, characters, backdrops and story plot all rolled in one.

The magic within each movie tugs at the child inside everyone, which is why his most famous movies (Totoro and Castle in the Sky) are so memorable for people who've watched them so long ago, and why they are still popular for adults as well as children.

The "westernized" films (films that made a large debut in western countries) like Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle are all fabulous but in my opinion, it's his older films that really define anime at it's best...Valley of the Wind, The Cat Returns, Totoro, Pocco Rosso etc. They're basically storytales brought to life that the child in many people deeply appeciate.

I like My Neighbour Totoro the best, even if it is kinda old. It was actually very popular in 1988 when it was released. I like Spirited Away second, and then Princess Mononoke, then Kiki's Delivery Service. Those are my all-time fave.

I've loved My Neighbour Totoro ever since I was a little kid. I've yet to have seen the new Disney dub though. I also love Princess Mononoke, and Spirited Away. I recently saw Castle in the Sky. I thought it was cute but didn't enjoy as much as his other films.

I thought My Neighbour Totoro was kinda cute-I love Miyazaki's films-I like Princess Mokonoke, Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle the best-I was also wondering, was Howl's Moving Castle the only movie Miyazaki did that was based on a book?

I saw some of his movies a few weeks ago on AMC, they had something called "A Month of Miyazaki", and it was totally worth staying up all night for. I didn't even realize he was behind Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa until I saw that special, and I love both of those movies.

I also went out and bought Spirited Away the day after it was on that special, and I still have to get Howl's Moving Castle and Laputa. I hope AMC does it again next year..

Yeah, I thought I'd heard that too...

Princess Mononoke was the first one of his I saw so that will always have a special place in my heart. :) However, I love Spirited Away the best, I think. Although Porco Rosso & The Cat Returns (too cute!) are good too. Oh yeah, and Howl's Moving Castle, see I'm very indecisive, I can't choose one.

I thought that Porco Roso was pretty good. I loved the things they said to him like, 'You're such a pig' and such. I loved Howl's Moving Castle, and Princess Mononoke was amazing. I haven't heard of the Cat Returns though.

Anyways, I wonder what his next film is going to be?
