Hey All,

TOKYOPOP is thinking about doing some apparel... shirts, caps, hoodies, jackets, etc. Let me know what things you think would make cool clothes and what you would wear. What would you like to see on it.

I would like a zippered hoodie with a sparkley/glittery TOKYOPOP logo in red. The logo would be small and on the left chest area. I guess the colors would be grey or black...or pink! The zipper would have to be the kind with a hole in it, so I can hang my favorite anime character zipper charms on it...or TOKYOPOP manga character zipper charms...zipper charms would be WAY cool!

I wouldn't mind some character arm warmers, either. They are nice when you have to type and it's cold in winter, and great in the summer if you have birds (they can grip your arm warmers instead of your arms, so they don't fall off and your arms don't get scratched up).

Silly pom pom knit ski hats would be cool, too. Bunny ear or kitty eared hats would be neat, too.

The TOKYOPOP coorporate colors are Red, Black, White and Grey but maybe we can do some alternates if people are really interested.

I`d TOTALLY wear it. (you could even have one with some of the characters you`ve liscensed on the back of a T-shirt, or front, gathered around the logo! LOL it would be cute if they were CHIBI!)

I quite like the poster that book stores around England use which says "Leding the manga revolution"

My other idea was one of those "Make your own t-shirt" type websites, where you can choose from a set of images, t-shirt sizes and colors, and mix and match your own. There are quite a few tokyopop seires that I'd like t-shirts of!

My daughters love the hoodies! We go into Hot Topic a lot and I see several manga ideas. I would love to see either Rebound or Cyborg 009 material. I would like to see the keychains that go around your neck because I have a flash drive and I'd like to put one on a TokyoPop chain! Oh man... TP arm warmers... that would be so sweet. And hats would be adorable... and I liked the school girl uniform idea. You guys should really just make everything, we would buy it and wear it to cons and just everyday life and such. Scarves might also be a cute idea, I don't know if lots of people wear them for fashion, but we do here, and when I was up north well ya know, it was just required. Scarves are very cute, your favorite character could be on it chibi style and say TokyoPop under it or something equally adorable.

How you always seem to touch it when you're typing and it messes up your typing? If you have the thumb hole kind, it covers the lower palm area; which is the spot that always hits the touchpad (on me)...so it makes it easier to work, too :) Oh, and I'd prefer the robofish should be knitted in, not pasted on top :) Red would be TOO cool!

Edit: Would those be helpful for mangaka, too? I mean would they help keep the "smear" down? I see pictures of old time typesetter/printer people wearing similar things...so I wondered...

I think an oversized black pull-over hoodie with the Tokyopop label in red, smallish, in the upper left on the front and a large, white robofish on the back would be nice. Maybe some robofish sneaks would be nice. And I'd definately go for a pair of robofish knee-socks in black and red (black with red robofish or black with white...or inverses). Oh, maybe even pajama pants with "100% Authentic Manga!" written in vertical red on white...or white on red...or any possible combination of black, white, and red. ^__^
Oh, and those sweat/wrist bands with either of the three, perferable with white or red on black. Yeah...*designs a Tokyopop clothing line in my mind*. Such a great idea!!

Homigod, that would be the greatest! So many thing to create! I would do lots of logo junk with the anime pictures, and even try to create some of the character's clothes (which might be hard since a lot of characters have their wadrobe changed almost every chapter). Also, chibis! Everyone loves chibis! You could print them on practically anything and people would buy them because they are so cute! -^^-

I wouldn't make it too 'otaku'ish though. Or no one but otaku would buy it.

How do I know? Madman, the local Australian Anime licensing company released their 'Madman Otaku wear' a few years back. The shirts and hoodies were all for guys and too 'otaku' to wear. No one BUT the most otaku buys AND wears them in public.

So THINK when the shirts are being designed. Chuck a few shirts out for guys cause most will pull on anything clean they find. It's the girls you want to target. Make shirts and other wear that are fashionable and cute. Something they won't mind wearing in public. Also, don't just stick to one style. Make some cute, some punkish, some comfortable. Try doing sport wear.

Also target children. Kids will pick most clothing that has their fave character on them. And parents normally give in, regardless of the price.

If done right... Tokyopop Apparel could become HUGE.

But if only a few shirts a planned... That's fine with me... As long as there are a few designs for girls. And the fabric is comfortable and DOESN'T SHRINK!!!

O.o Shoes? I dunno...I don't wear shoes if I don't have to. ^^; Plus, I doubt they'd make them big enough. O.O Size 11 women's shoes NEVER get the cool stuff. My feet are so big...T__T It makes me sad.

T-shirts rock. Men will wear any t-shirt they think is funny or makes them look good, and then they will continue wearing them even if they forget why they bought them. XD Sorry to say that it's true. But of course, I think Tokyopop knows that their biggest demographics lie with teenage and young adult girls. So, do be sure to make a wide range of sizes. O.O I want to be able to FIT in a shirt you guys make. XXXL is usually a really good ceiling size, while XS is a good floor size. You've got a group of girls that range from scrawny to well-rounded, and then you've got people who like to have oversized shirts in general anyway. I've noticed that trend a LOT with manga-readers.

Gimme a Robofish shirt, make sure you also have plain Ts with a big robofish on the front, I usually wear a t under a mostly open dress shirt just as my everyday wear and the Robofish would be way better than the either A: blankness or B: funny saying thats only really funny once.

Also, hoodies would be awesome, but dont make the print huge, anytime I go to get a good hoodie theres always some massive logo all over any area big enough to print on.

Robofish is the Tokyopop logo, scroll to the top of your page and look at the left side of the screen, on the left of the word "Tokyopop" that is the robofish.

Hope that the Apparel reflects Tokyopop or the books that company makes. I like a line of apparel that boring and same colors being use for many different images. Also hope that you add wallets, purses, bags to the line.

Don't know if someone said this already, but how about some simple bracelets? Silicone red ones, that say "Tokyopop" with the robofish in white letters or "Tokyopop" with "Leading The Manga Revolution" in white letters? Simple things for people who to represent Tokyopop, but not with too much. So simple accessories.

Yes, red is a very stark color. I think it would be most appropriate for Tokyopop. You know, the revolutionaries of manga and all.
