Are you having trouble deciding who to cosplay as? Do you need to know where to buy inepensive and high quality outfits and props? Do you feel the need to make your own stuff but need advice regarding material to use? If so, you're looking at the right thread.
I'm done with sounding like an infomercial so let's get down to business.
So does anyone know where I can find a cheap pair Naruto sandals? I want black ones and they have to be really small. I think the maximum size should be size 6 (women's). Thanks!
PS: The answer to anyone's question isn't just Ebay which isn't always reliable. *gasp* It's true, it's true.

I make my own cosplay designs that differ a little bit from my favorite characters so that it has more flair. But I am a noob at cosplay so don't mind me.

I know I have tiny feet so finding shoes I like in the right size is pretty hard for me sometimes.
So does anyone else need help?

I've just decided to add Rio Takeuchi from Spiral to my cosplay list for this year, but I can't find many pictures of her online to be able to get the costume down to start making it. I want to do the outfit she wears in the 6th DVD in the final episodes, the blue and white striped sweater with the fur trim, but it's sorta hard to go to the store and sew off memory...
If anyone knows of a good place to find Spiral pictures *specificially that outfit on Rio* I'd really appreciate a PM or whatnot. ^^ Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I can't find good pics but... You do things the "corny" way:
1. Pop in a Spiral DVD.
2. When you get good shots of Rio pause the DVD.
3. Draw! (from different angles)
Yeah, I know that's a bit "bleh" but it works. In fact, that's how I made my Haku costume.
:)

Teehee, I'm sure that does work. Assuming you can draw.. I can only write. ^^;
I was thinking about maybe err.. taking pictures of the screen and printing them out? Lol, also ghetto I know but... *sigh* I seriously have been looking for good pictures for like a week now.
Jacku

Go find someone who can draw and pay him/her... a penny!
If you try taking a picture of the screen then you're going to have to deal with glare. *shudder*

They didnt make official ones smaller than a mens size 7.
You might have to find a place that custom makes them.
I'm actually in the process of learning to make them *I'm a hxc cosplayer* and I am getting a Naruto group together for my anime club.
*We are all doing after the three year gap! Yay!! (I wanted to be Sai or Sasuke, but NOOOo they voted me Sakura ... but all the other girls are fighting over being her, so I really shouldnt complain)*
Anywho, I might have the "know how" on how to make them yourself in the next two weeks, since I have to find a CHEAP way to make them for about a group of 10 people or so...
I'll pm you if you want to know how, as soon as I figure it out.

Does anybody have any idea what the kanji on Hinoto's (X/1999) sashes are? Or at least have images that show them clearly? I'm having trouble finding them. If I can at least get pictures, I can read them just fine. Please!

I need a recommendation to a good commissioner to make a wig. I'm hoping/planning to go to Kumori-con (September), and will be going as Noriko from Gravitation. Unfortunately, I can't get a Katie Bair wig and I can't find anyone, so any suggestions?

For about the same price as a Katie Blair wig BEFORE you bid for time, you can get a wig done by Misty. Everyone in life brags about her AWA 11 Shiva wig. :D
Anyways, here's the site. http://www.hikarimage.com Hope it helps.

Does anyone know how to make a decent top hat that does not involve a ton of tape and file folders and trying to stick a needle through a ton of tape and file folders? I and my best friend are going in gothic lolita costumes and we're planning on top hats. I can and have made one but it was a lot of hassle, so I'm looking for an easier way.

You can buy the gloves. They're just plain white ones. As for the rest you'll probably have to just get a pattern that's simliar to it and modify it.
Or if your really lazy, goto a thrift store and find clothes that are similar and just modify them. This is great for those who don't have much costume making expeirence.
This place is a GREAT site to goto for cosplay:
http://www.cosplay.com
There's a HUGE thread there dedicated to FMA cosplay.
Good luck!

ebayyyyyyyyyyyy.....although don't expect it to be cheap. i've only seen jackets 80 bucks and up on there. if you know how to sew or have a friend that does try getting the a matrix coat pattern (i forgot whos it was that ppl are using for this) and just modifying it slightly, like adding a hood and such. i think simplicy is the one who makes that pattern.

As much as I'd love to, my parents won't let me buy ANYTHING online. Not even from Hot Topic or whatever; closest I got was getting two donation letters on Gaia. And I'm afraid they're going to be too large, we're looking for smaller, mini-esque ones. ^^; Thanks for the suggestions though; I'll try to stop by Goodwill or something and take a look.

I think you need to get a special synthetic wig shampoo. It can probably be found in specailty beauty stores or wig shops.

Well I guess just water and some gentle scrubing. I have a friend who recommended mild dishwashing soap. Hope that works.
Any shampoo that's not made for sythetic fibers (ie. the stuff you use on YOUR hair), no matter how mild the shampoo is, has a high chance of making it fall apart. I find it odd that you used a wig shapmoo and this still happened. Weird. O_o

According to my mom you shouldn't wash wigs at all. So... Just don't dump it into anything.

I need some advice. I'm working on my Cooro costume from +Anima I was wondering what would be best for the trousers.

Would a pair of cut-off jeans be to "modern world" looking? Should I go for a pain of blue sweatpants or some of my old scrub pants? What do you guys think? Thanks in advance ^_^

Try a simple stitch-in and out, in and out, sewing the seams together(on the inside, of course, wouldn't want ugly edges showing on the outside, would we?). Double back for extra strength. Or perhaps a whip stitch, but I've never used that one before. They do work, I've used the first stitches above for all my gothic lolita headdresses so far. Sorry if it's confusing, I'm not the best at stitch descriptions. ^^;

lol, i am making a french maid costume, and i think i can help you out. let me go scan some pics from a how-to-sew book, and i will give you the links. i wouldnt trust patterns. It would probably be easier to make it without one, because it is an anime costume, and you probably won't find a pattern. you could probably look at other people's cosplay and get ideas though!!
EDIT: you should check your library for sewing books!
