I once decided to make Ninamori's USSR shirt that she wore in episode 3 of FLCL. I've made Nabiki and Akane's (from Ranma 1/2) school uniform, I made Duke(Yugioh), Bakura(Yugioh), Malik(Yugioh), that's all I can think of for now...I've worn my Duke, Bakura, and malik outfits to school, I even wore Malik's earrings that I made x3

I've been cosplaying since my frist convention, to bad I'm not very good at it. Akon 15...and since they're next con is number 17...well it's hasn't been very long. ^^;

My other costumes tend to not be anime based, but rather based on jrockers. I keep pictures of them on my cosply.com account.

I love cosplaying, i've actually done it at school.I don't have any pictures online of me in costume(i'm tech illiterate) I've gone as Sumomo(Chobits) Trowa and Duo(Gundam Wing) Kyou(Fruits Basket) Kyoko(Fruits Basket) Nuriko(Fushigi yugi) That costume I DO have pictures of, Eurobeatking took them, and I'll be going as Gwendal to Cherry blossom Festival soon. Sumomo my dad and I made, and Trowa was easy and Duo, my dad altered the top shirt.Kyou was easy(the hardest part was the bracelet, which-if it helps anyone, is a Bratz bracelet from Wal-Mart,looks just like the real thing) and Nuriko and Gwendal were commissions and I love them so very much

The only thing I've made so far is hats (because fabric is expensive, I don't have a job, and my mom's sewing machine that I was using is really old and keeps breaking).

I really like the Lolita styles. I found a bunch of patterns that I can use to try and make things. I really don't know how good I am since the only things I've made are hats and pillows....and dolls.....

But my mom got me my own sewing machine (it's pretty new but simple, even!) and a desk and everything for it, so hopefully once she gets the manual and bobbin case or whatever (I keep forgetting what it's called) then I can bring it back down to my dad's and sew for practice after school.

But I haven't made any costumes yet. Is there anything I really need to know? Which kinds of fabrics to avoid, and such? I've been trying to research this stuff, but I forget. I think the fact that I've had to study for the four tests that I have to take this week has snuffed my brain of other types of thought beyond school.

This was really long, but pictures are nice. Take more pictures! x_X

Oh, Tyger86, I think you're lucky. My dad doesn't like my "obession" with anime and Japan, and everything. So he won't fund/help any projects I start, or buy me anything even remotely Japan-related for Christmas or my Birthday. My mom tries to help me sew, but she barely knows how to work her own machine, so she isn't really much help.... So I have to do everything on my own! :D

Unless I forgot what he looks like, (which is entirely possible) that Nuriko costume sounds hard to make!

JenniferPlague-fabrics are mad expensive, I agree, I usually go into debt to my mom, or look for clearance(or in Gwendal's case,be lucky to find a jacket to alter)What kind of hats and dolls and pillows do you make? there isn't really any RULES (then again I'm not a real big pro cosplayer)but i suggest avoiding satin or those really shiny satin-like materials, they look nice and are cheap but unless you're in the middle of winter outside, go with cotton, its cheapest and *breathes* easily.I made the semi-mistake of making my Nuriko costume out of shiny whatever and it's so HOT! but lucky Nuriko's known for being narcisstic so it wasn't too bad that the costume was shiny. But if you find some shiny stuff and you like it, go ahead, there's really no rules for cosplay just have fun.At least you have your mom to help you be 'obssessed"

I'm cosplaying for the first time this year, as Noriko from Gravitation. I've pretty much have everything execpt the wig and I'm praying it comes (I have less than a week really to get it).

JenniferPlague, I totally understand where you're coming from with your dad. My dad hates it when I buy anything manga or anime related and highly disapproves of me liking manga and anime to be truthful. Oh well.

Gwendal cosplay? That sounds great! You should take some pictures and post them when its finished. I've considered doing a Gunter cosplay myself. Kyou Kara Maou is loff. :D

So far the cosplays I have are Kurama from YYH, Subaru from Tokyo Babylon, Ayame from Fruits Basket, Soubi from Loveless, Eclipse from Demon Diary, Hiro from Gravitation, and Shinji from Prince of Tennis. I'm planning on doing L from Death Note and this J Pop guitarist named Kenichi Ito sometime before Otakon this year.

Oh, you're going to AN06? I'll be there too as Hanajima from Fruits Basket and Sasuke from Naruto hopefully...if I can get that costume done in time. I wish I knew how to sew. THe closest I've ever gotten to sewing is crosstitching a little teddy bear that I started on in February and I'm not even halfway done. *winces*. My Hanajima costume was actually custom-made in China...which is how me and my best friend have matching costumes. Next year I'll get a custom Kamichama Karin waitress-bunny Himeka suit. I couldn't possibly do it myself, even if I did have a sewing machine. I'm gonna try and talk my best friend into going as Karin...

*has never cosplayed* I'd really like to, though. Unfortunately, lack of money, creative skills, and ability to sew decently (well, alright... I can make a mean pillow, but clothing is just out of the question for my little ability in sewing XD) has prevented me. I'd really like to go to Otakun this summer, but alas, I can't. :(
