Sounds cool. :)

I only wish we still had the Big Apple Con too. Just 1 Con in the area isn't enough. ><

I can't wait either! I went with my brother for the first time last year and we had such a blast. I don't think we're going to cosplay though. We'll be there on Friday and Saturday.

I went to the first AnimeNext and had a great time even though it was kind of small and the artist alley tables were sort of hidden behind these big bullentin boards for the art gallery...

I keep meaning to go back though since it's so darn close to NYC. And I've heard it's gotten a lot bigger.

I was thinking of doing that but I don't do very well on big exams so it will require more studying.

;D Ironic
It is in a good way but with finals it's not so good anymore

Pity about the exams. :/ Even just a few hours?
I'm not sure if I'll be able to go myself. ><
One can hope. ^^

If I lived closer, I would but if I did go, I might as well stay for a whole day. If I did go, I would like to stay the whole time. *sigh* Maybe next year...I must get A's so I can be exempt from finals. I hope you can go though!

From the AnimeNEXT Newsletter:
April is here, and that means the Sukura Matsuri at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is just around the corner. The AnimeNEXT US tour will be there on April 29th and 30th, and we'll be bringing friends!

There will be cosplayers from a variety of different anime around, so stop on by to take a look at memorabilia from our past years, sign up for our newsletter, talk to one of our staff about the convention, bring your camera and get a snapshot with one of the surprise cosplay characters in attendance, or come on down and cosplay your self.

You can find out more about the Brooklyn Botanic Garden's Sakura Matsuri and their schedule of events at http://www.bbg.org/exp/cherries/sakura.html

From the AnimeNEXT Newsletter:
AnimeNEXT is proud to announce a whole bunch of Industry Guests for 2006. Among the 2006 Industry personnel are Mari Morimoto, Trish Ledoux, Toshifumi Yoshida, and David A. Williams,

Osaka-born and Manhattan-raised, Ms. Morimoto never strayed far from urbanity until she spent 9 years at Cornell. She got her foot in the door with VIZ Media through luck and circumstance, and since then has expanded her resume to include panelist, panel leader, GoH personal assistant and interpreter, and GOH at several Northeast cons. She has also contributed several articles to the English edition of Shonen Jump. This is Mari'sthird appearance at AnimeNEXT. She will be participating in several manga-related panels throughout the weekend.
Her current translating duties include Naruto, InuYasha, and Knights of the Zodiac, but she has also previously translated Dragonball, Maison Ikkoku, One Pound Gospel, and the Di Gi Charat anthology.

Trish Ledoux is an experienced and renowned translator, editor and ADR script writer in the United States. Trish Ledoux was among the originators of the original Animag at the beginning of American anime fandom. She then went on to VIZ Communications, where she served as editor in chief on the Animerica magazine. Trish has worked on the translation and adaptation of many well known anime to English for the American audience; including Ranma ½, Adieu Galaxy Express 999, Outlanders and Video Girl Ai. Trish has also worked on several manga being released in the United States.

Toshifumi Yoshida is returning to AnimeNEXT in 2006. Toshi is probably best known to the US anime fan as the producer of several fan favorite anime shows like InuYasha and Ranma ½. Toshi began his career at VIZ Video, and he has worked on such projects as Please Save My Earth; Jin-Roh; Video Girl Ai; Key the Metal Idol and Otaku No Video. Toshi recently served as producer for the InuYasha movie,
InuYasha: Affections Touching across Time.

David L. Williams is a producer/director for ADV, he is also their DVD producer. David has worked with ADV from the beginning when it was a closet in a game store and he used his living room to work on Devil Hunter Yohko. He has been an anime fan even longer having helped Matt Greenfield with Anime Nasa and Janice Williams run W.H.A.T., both anime clubs in Houston. Shows he has directed include, Angelic Layer, Pretear, Najica, the original Nuku Nuku OVAs, Dirty Pair and many others.

Look for more Industry Guests to be added to the AnimeNEXT line up soon.

From the AnimeNEXT web site:
D'espairsRay, is coming to AnimeNEXT 2006 following the successful release of their newest single Kogoeru Yoru Ni Saita Hana, currently #1 on the Japanese Indie Chart.

Experience the madness as they take you on a dark journey through their unique world of gothic rock. You don't need to understand Japanese or know their music to be able to get into their live performance as D'espairsRay creates a certain energy that is absolutely unstoppable and understandable no matter what language you speak. For many, a D'espairsRay concert is a life-altering experience, for some it's just damn good rock, but either way don't miss their performance at AnimeNEXT 2006. Please visit the the JHouse Rock, http://www.jhouserock.com, web site for more details.

From the AnimeNEXT web site:
AnimeNEXT is very proud to be able to bring attendees three Japanese Guests of Honor this year. Our third Guest of Honor is Harold Sakuishi. Mr. Sakuishi is storming the states with BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad, his manga about what it means to be a teenager, but more importantly, what it means to ROCK!!! With BECK, Sakuishi has displayed a keen sense for crafting characters that generate an emotional resonance with his readers. Through his detailed storytelling and sitcom like set-up, it's hard not to connect to the main characters, Koyuki, Ryusuke, their band, and their friends. Sakuishi's love for music and pop-culture globally can be felt throughout the series and specifically through the chapter covers in BECK that parody famous rock album covers.

Mr. Sakuishi has a wide variety of interests that include baseball (Huge Chunichi Dragons fan), martial arts (Loves pro wrestling), and music. Each of these has become the basis for his most popular series (Baseball in Stopper Busujima, fighting in Bakaichi, and music in BECK). His series also often include character cameos from his past works; one of the newspaper reporters in BECK is actually from Stopper Busujima and so on.

This is Mr. Sakuishi's first visit to the U.S. and we're proud to welcome him to AnimeNEXT 2006! Check it out at http://www.animenext.org

Anyone else meet Sakuishi? He seemed like a pretty nice guy to me, chatting with people at the autograph sessions and friendly. He wrote "To my friend..." and drew a picture of Koyuki in my BECK volume 1.
