Ok I’ve got a few questions….let me set them up first.

To enter RSOM we have to do 15-20 pages… for a Standard submission we need 5-6 plus the rest of to package.

1) If you finish 5-6 pages and send them in with the rest of the required material for a normal submission, does this disqualify them from being entered in RSOM?

2) Due to the upcoming RSOM is TP still looking at submissions? Or are they only focused on the upcoming RSOM contest?

12 months is a long time to wait. I’m just thinking an artist could do a full volume by then, if they got the go ahead.

1) You're asking if sending a story as a Submission disqualifies it from being entered into the regular Rising Stars contest? I don't know the answer to that question.

2) TOKYOPOP never stops looking at submissions.

You're right that 12 months is a long time. :) But it's probably counterproductive to start working on a whole book before you get a contract. It's extremely unlikely that even the 6 finished pages for your submission would make it into the final book without alteration. Editorial input is an important part of polishing things up, though some series have more editorial input than others.

Once you put sufficient development time into one project, you may consider putting time into another one and another one and another one in case the first few don't pan out. Generally the more stories you tell, the better you get at storytelling.

If the right people go on the forum, they'll probably see it here as well as there.
