I am in love with the Kenshin series. It's a great manga about sword fighting, love, friendship, and super human fighters! haha It's a really great manga, you should check out at least volume one and see if you like it.

The manga is basically the anime, only more in-depth and with a few plots that aren't included in the anime (hell, 28 volumes can make probably four hundred episodes; 95 was enough). The manga is amazing, and I would far recommend it beyond the anime (though the anime -- dub included -- was pretty damn good), but it's an expensive buy.
If you haven't seen the anime, and actually refer to the series as Wandering Samurai, I don't know how much you'll appreciate it for anything but its fight scenes. It incorporates a lot of Japan's history, as well as real-life characters (though fictionalized) in its plots, and the series is just that much better when you know who the characters are, and watch Kenshin's interaction with them.
By the way, "Rurouni Kenshin" translates to "Wanderer Kenshin," not "Wandering Samurai." It's a play on words.

anoyo i think u should watch the ova series of ''samurai x'' called ''trust'' betrayal'' and well i don't recall the name of the third. they will take ur breath away. they have beautiful art and the story is amazing. it's nothing like the 95 episodes. trust me and watch them u'll like 'em

I've recently started to read it. It's about a man who doesn't want anything to do with killing because he was a great killer during a war. He was used by the government to create a free Japan. In the end, the government he killed so many peole to help create became corrupt. So he swore to never use his sword to kill again and became a Rurouni. He then meets people who he wants to protect from all those after his head, since he's a legend warrior.
It has intense fighting and it's pretty interesting. If you're interested in Japanese sword fighting you should start reading it.
I think anyone who has even once seen or read Ruronin Kenshin would suggest you too read it as well.
I love how Kenshin talks in a.... unique way when he's himself. But as soon as his personality reverts back to being Batosai(sp?) the way he talks compleatly changes.

Almost a year and someone bumps this up
Have to agree...I have all 28 volumes and the novel...great manga series. The anime version was good up to the end of the Shishio story arc, then it veered away from the manga and not in a good way at that ;)

Kenshin's all right. It's an older series and one of the few that I've lost interest in over the years. Despite that, it's a pretty decent read and I'd recommend it if you're into that kind of stuff.
I will say that even though the series has become dull to me, the OAV, Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal, is GREAT. I'd recommend that over the anime and probably even the manga. It's a lot more serious and less lighthearted, but the battle scenes are awesome and the animation is really good for its age.

I have the entire anime and manga series of this it's really good. Recommend it t everyone!!!
I like to get both the anime and manga form of it. While they both follow about the same story line, there are just anough small differences here and there that makes it worth the money. (When I have it.) I even managed to get my mom reading it!
Haven't watched the anime but so have read 7 volumes of the manga and it's like a volcano about to explode, and yeah I would definatly agree with one mate who said they would reccomed it to everyone. This is because I would do exactly the same thing. The action scences are really great...I can't wait to read the rest of the volumes.

They only follow the same storyline up to a point, then the anime goes in a different direction while the manga stays on course. The manga storylines are much better than the anime, which toward the end of the series became nonsense IMO.

I've watched the anime and read all the manga. It's an amazing story! Here'a a summer I got off starplus.com
This samurai anime takes place during the Meiji Era in Feudal Japan. It follows the story of Kenshin Himura, a rurouni trying to outrun the life he led ten years ago when he was known as the Battousai, the greatest killer of the Edo dynasty and the assassin who helped bring about the downfall of the Tokugawa shogunate. Wherever Kenshin travels, he encounters people who either wish to kill him for changing the balance of power, or hire him for his incredible skills. But Kenshin has vowed never to kill again and now carries a sword with the blade on the inside of the curve, drawing it only when he has to and always leaving his opponents alive. When he wanders into a quiet village and meets the lovely and strong-willed Kaoru Kamiya, Kenshin finds a chance at the life of love and honesty that he's been searching for. But will he be able to settle down and provide services for Karou's struggling martial arts studio with menacing forces from his past looking for power and revenge?
