I noticed recently when I bought my copy of Sequence and Saiyuki Reload 2 at Borders that TP has started putting sensor tags into the books. I thought this was a bit aggravating because it's very difficult to get them out without ruining the book.
However, when I went to buy Saiyuki RELOAD 3 from Barnes and Nobles I noticed that sensor slips were inserted instead of the tags.

Is this just a store thing, or has TP decided to change from sensor tags to slips?
If so, it's really appreciated.

I don't think the publishing company has anything to do with those... Doesn’t the book store do them?

If so, I think they should at least put them on the last few pages where the adds are, and not in the very middle of the book. Or, they can insert cards or something. But please don't put them on the actual pages. I've ruined a few pages trying to get them out before. I once got one book that had 3 in them... THREE! That's a BIT excessive. I mean, I know people steal, but honestly... do you need THREE per book?

It's the store, not the company. I get those tags in every book I buy from Waldenbooks, but not in any I've ever bought from Suncoast or Amazon.com.

I got them all the time in Waldenbooks (occassionally, they managed to damage the spine by placing them so close to the middle of the book) and I can't remember ever getting them in the books I bought from Books-a-Million. Amazon.com, of course, has no need to put anything in the books. :P

I've torn the inside cover of one of my manga, trying to get the security tag out, but I don't think any of the pages of my manga have been damaged yet. Considering my local Waldenbooks has closed because the mall decided it no longer needed a bookstore (buh-wha?) [no, seriously, they pulled their lease. my brother's fiancee's boss is the husband of the manager] I won't have to worry about it again.

To confirm: it's not TOKYOPOP doing it. It's the stores. If you have a problem with where your particular store is putting the tags, please talk to them at the customer service desk.
