Who do you like more: Kagome or Kikyou? from Inuyasha

Kikyou is way better. She was first and is not as annoying as Kagome. She has to deal with the fact that Inuyasha no longer feels the same way about her, and that Kagome will nost likely end up with him. What must hurt the most is that Kagome is her reincarnation, so her own soul is stealing her love away.

Personally, I like Kikyo more because she is not whiny and she really isn't after Inuyasha anymore. She just doesn't care. Kagome whines and annoys Inuyasha, even though I'm pretty sure he doesn't mind because he loves her.

And for the both of you, there is nothing wrong with the writing. You don't have to learn from everything you watch. And it is going somewhere but they are on a journey so it's not like they can make it an OVA series and find all the shards of the jewel in 13 episodes. There is alot of stuff along the way that requires the patience of the faithful Rumiko Takahashi viewers. At least, that's my opinion. And if you've stopped watching it then you're missing out on good characters like the Shichinintai.

I did not say "I" needed to learn anything. The characters need to. They go through their adventures where they should be learning lessons, but in the next arc, they make ALL THE SAME MISTAKES. That is poor writing. The characters magically forget everything every new arc. I don't care if you toss in new characters, just please let the ones that have been there since day 1 grow up during their journey or else they remain flat and unrealistic. Who cares how 'neat' they are if they remain the same exact bunch of morons they were when they were level 1 and pinned to the tree. :P

I think that the two are too different to compare. I know that they have the same soul and reincarnation and yada yada yada, but they are completely different characters. Kagome is a modern day high school girl, and Kikyo is a feudal priestess. I like how Kagome adapts to her surroundings and juggles her two lives, and I like how strong Kikyo is. They are both pretty good characters.

In the Kikyo flashbacks she seemed to have a lot of depth and her relationship with Inu was complicated and interesting.
However once she came back as a re-animated corpse she seemed to lose a lot of her depth and well I prefer the more lively Kagome.
But if Kikyo hadn't died and changed, I think I would have preferred her.

Though I don't watch or read Inu Yasha anymore. (Haven't for a few years now..) Kikyou was always my favorite from when I first read the manga. Kagome honestly, annoyed me. :x Plus, Kikyou was a pretty deep character which alot of people didn't seem to realize. She reminded me of characters from the Mermaid Saga series. Though from what I did watch of the anime, the anime kinda messed certain things up and I didn't really like how the anime portrayed her character. Though the manga was alot darker than the anime overall to begin with.

What I'd like to know, since this is the anime we are talking about, is how many episodes have you watched. I've watched the whole series and I know something about the manga, someday I hope to have all the manga..and I currently own 3 years of the anime.... So, did you decide you like Kagome or Kikyo after you watched the full series or just some of it? I ask this only based in the anime not whats happend in the manga.. Personally i'm at the point with the anime that I like both of them because I think both of them have changed alot since the series started based on the anime..

I've seen the entire anime series (and I'm following the current manga, as some of my previous posts can attest to) and at first I didn't really like Kikyou either, but as the series moved on I started to like her. It isn't that she's trying to be an evil person to everyone and trying to ruin everyone's lives (except Naraku's....) but she's more than a bit angry that she was murdered. It takes her a long time to come to terms with the fact that Inuyasha really did care about her but he's still alive and needs to move on. And I don't think she hates Kagome, either. She's only jealous of Kagome because Kagome is the one that is able to help Inuyasha get over his past and make everything better.

Miroku would be totally jelouse, but I think Kikyo and Kagome would kill whoever sugested it to their face. Besides, for all his tough talk Inuyasha is fairly shy with the girls he likes. He would feel to nervous and hide in a tree or something!

I still think Kagome is the best posible match. She can be anoying and a scardy-cat at times, where Kikyo is sertainly the opposite. But in modern Japan, how many chances do you think came up where Kagome needed to remain calm and fight for her life? Now, had Kagome fallen into the Feudal era when she was six or seven, she'd have probably developed a lot braver like Kikyo.

Another fact someone brought up is that Inuyasha could live forever, being part demon, where Kagome will probably only make it to her 80's or 90's with a health diet. But wasn't it Kikyo's intention in the first place to use the Shikon Jewl and turn Inuyasha human as well?! Now their both human, end of age conflict!:D

That's the way it happens in the manga too. Kikyou has enough of a soul left with her to animate the body, and she just takes the other souls to keep it moving.

And a clone is a completely different thing. A clone is nothing more than a DNA copy. It might have all the same physical characteristics that you do, but that's where it ends. If you were to clone yourself, then the clone would be a completely different person.

Aside from the fact that Kagome is not interested in Kouga that way at all, I think Kouga is really just confusing love with friendship. As a demon, his way of thinking is different from that of humans (or in Inuyasha's case, that of half-demons). He's not had much experience with humans other than having them for lunch, so for someone like Kagome who ends up being able to help his tribe one day was something new for him. He was fascinated with the fact that she could detect the Shikon Jewel, which is something that no one else is able to do, and confused her being nice to him for being love.

So My reason's Kagome should atleast think about Kouga.. ( yet again!!)

In the first meeting Kouga realizes right away that Kagome can see the shards and would be a big boon for both him and his pack.. After getting Kagome to his home she stands up for Shippo one of her pack showing both loyalty and courage not once but twice.. When some of the pack come in wounded and she hear's the story she shows compassion toward Kouga's clan.. When she shows the courage to stand alone the second time he rightly decides she is an alpha female and would be a great mate plus a great pack member.. Which she shows by keeping her promise to help him find the bird with the shard and then courage to strike down a bird helping one of her new brother's and finally in protecting Kouga when he was wounded.. Now we know she did this out of her nature to protect everyone if she can but Kouga did rightly understand she's an Alpha female worthy of being a leader.. as that is what would happen if she chooses Kouga.. Where as Inu Yasha still hasn't been able to see past his own greatness.. Which would make choosing Kouga the better choice..

Now later on Inu Yasha will begin to see past his own nose but how far that is remains to be seen or if infact he does so in time..

That's why Kagome should open her eyes and look past the one she is so close too.

I wouldn't say that it's so much that Inuyasha can't see past himself, as he's not had much interaction with anyone else besides resentment for most of his life. He does eventually grow up through the series when he finally makes friends with Kagome and everyone, but before that he hasn't had much of a reason to care about anyone else besides himself. Remember that he pretty much had to raise himself. Everything you've described about Kouga there could also be called admiration. It's possible to admire someone and not be in love with them. And while you can say she could rethink Kouga, the same can be said about Houjo as well. But she clearly isn't interested in either one.

I like Kouga, but it's obviouse Kagome likes Inuyasha better as far as boyfriends go. And don't forget Ayame! Her apearance was short, but Kouga did promise at one time to marry her, and she dousn't seem like the kind of charicter to just be brushed off so easily. I mean, look how far she went to find him!

Also, if Kagome married Kouga, she'd have to get used to life in a wolf pack. Not so hard at first maybe, but an alpha female needs to set herself up so theres no dought whos in power and she'll have to inforce that power. An alpha needs the full packs respect or everyone starts to live in conflict with another. An alpha in a pack is the president, head police oficer, and strict mother figure all at the same time. Kagome will have her momemnts, sure. But I don't think the larger half of the pack would ever acept her. That leads to conflicts, which leads to blood... which would lead into a new story arch!

Besides, Kouga can't help Kagome with her backpack past the well. Only her and Inuyasha can use it, right?

Give her a little credit, I've never seen her tell Inuyasha to sit while he was in human form, cause she knew it could realy hurt him then. (Otherwise it stings a little and he's right back on his feet.)
And when she douse tell him to sit, he usually deserves it. (And she says sorry when he dousn't.:rolleyes: ) There have been a lot of times I've wished I could tell him to sit, but Kagome let pass.

i really couldn't choose between either character because they both have their strong points.

Kagome is constantly growing, and while she can be a major pain in the neck, you can see that she really does care for her friends, especially Inuyasha.

Kikyo on the other hand, is already very strong and independant. She's out to get what she wants, and no one is going to stand in her way.
