What happened to Legal Drug!? :confused:
I was enjoying it so much! and it has now suddenly stopped!

Well, I havnt been reading the manga news, but please tell me...

well i would realy like to know too.
but legal drug is not finished even in japan, so concidering that clamp do more than 4 manga series at this time (in japan and ongoing) they brobably won't have much time.
i hope that is all 'cause i realy liked it! it was so darn good! and the guys....so gorgeous......:p

The Legal Drug (or Gohou Drug) series is on hiatus in Japan, as well as here. I've read things all over the 'net saying, "I heard a rumor TP will release volume four -insert BS here-" Don't believe them. How the **** could TP release a series that doesn't HAVE a volume four? Same goes for VIZ and X/1999. The series is on hiatus so CLAMP can work on xxxholic and Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles, the two series that they seem to be having the most fun with. ^_^ I can see why, too: if I had that many characters, shoving them all together would be tremendously amusing.

But hey -- we can all sit back and wait for more X and GD to be written. Those reading the Japanese series have been waiting a whole hell of a lot longer than those reading the American series.

I thought it was not so much that CLAMP were busy with Tsubasa and HOLiC, but rather that the magazine they were publishing in went under while still owning the rights.

Didn't CLAMP explicitly state that Legal Drug wasn't going to end up as a shounen-ai? God, I hope I'm wrong, otherwise - although I'm a little ashamed to say it - what's the point?

You know, off topic, if you're going to do a series, you should stick with *one* until it's done and then move on to another series. I love Legal Drug (Gohou Drug, whatever) but I just...grr...Tsubasa? I watched the anime and I absolutely hate Sakura, and I've flipped through the manga. I can't seem to make myself like it..sigh. I will give them xxxholic, which is okay. I'm being selfish because I like the shonen-ai things in LD.

I will die a thousand deaths if Clamp finishes it with Tsukiko coming back as Rikuo's girlfried. There will be rioting in the streets >_<

You know, off topic, if you're going to do a series, you should stick with *one* until it's done and then move on to another series.

As much as I may hate to wait for LD, this is the way I work on my books, so I'm not upset. Have writer's block on one? There are still three more to work on! Keep those creative juices flowing. For me, it's not so much that as I have so many stories I want to share with everybody, but if I wrote them one at a time, they'd never get told (that's the way it feels). I can't imagine the pressure they must feel, though, with all those series and the fans waiting oh so patiently.

All we can do is wait. I have plenty of other series to occupy my time and attention.

There is a controversy between fans of this series as to whether CLAMP intended for the characters' relationship to be shounen-ai or only platonic, due to the fact there have been may implications and situations that suggest it. CLAMP has stated, however, that it is not meant to be shounen-ai. This statement from CLAMP has not stopped the fandom from writing numerous fanfiction with slash content. For instance, the Legal Drug archive at Fanfiction.net is much larger than the xxxHOLiC archive.

Now is the manga shounen-ai or not? What do you think? Yes it is pointing towards shounen ai but is that really gonna happen? *shrugs* What do you think?

I don't think there's a single woman in the whole book. The store manager and his 'assistant' are always drooling over eachother and they seem to bump into guy couples everywhere.

However, the relationship between Kazahaya-kun and Rikuo-san remains implied. They do not kiss, are not in love and Kazahay-kun is obviously repulsed by the very idea of being in a relationship with Rikuo. Besides the fact that they both seem to have mysterious women in their pasts.

The verdict: Its whatever you make it out to be. I lean towards shonen-ai. I think they'd make a hot couple. I'd be disappointed if they didn't get together in the end, or at least kiss once XD. (Check my sig)

Unless I'm mixing up my terms, for something to be BL, the main focus of the plot has to be the relationship. There can be BL elements without the anime/manga being considered a BL.

An example of this is another CLAMP manga, Tokyo Babylon. Subaru loves Seishirou, but it's not a BL.

As for how this applies to Legal Drug, we've yet to see. There's no evidence to whether it will stay fanservice or their relationship will actually deepen. Personally, I hope they get together, because putting in that much fanservice and not doing anything with it seems dumb.

I second that! You don't put in that much tension in a series between a boy and a girl without ever planning to go anywhere with it! Same for BL.

I agree with Kaede 100%. It's too early in Kazahaya and Rikuo's relationship to determine if they will or will not develop a romantic relationship. Kakei and Saiga are definitely a couple; I don't see how their relationship can be interpreted otherwise. However, as Kakei and Saiga aren't the principle characters, I don't think you can say that Legal Drug as a whole is a BL manga.

Right now, I classify the manga as a supernatural with BL elements. Personally, I hope Kazahaya and Rikuo do get together romantically by the end of the series. They're one of my favorite ships in all of fandom.

Well, first off I like this series a lot but I wouldn't call it BL yet. I somewhat doubt CLAMP will help push it into any catergory too. The situations they put Kazahaya & Rikuo in just seems to me to be played up for comedy and CLAMP teasing all of us along the way waiting for something to happen. They can do fanservice just for the sake of it. Look at Miyuki-chan in Wonderland. I'm not complaing though, I hope they find somewhere else to published it.

PeNCILz, I gotta say that I think it is a shonen-ai. I know that CLAMP likes to put "hints" in their manga, I think they even stated in an interview once that they like to "tease" their fans with it. Do I think anything will come of it? No.
Why? Because CLAMP likes to "tease" their fans with it! I would love for it to go further but I don't think it will. I think book 3 was about as close as we're going to get.
Which, you know, makes me want to cry cause I love the shonen ai/yaoi but are you gonna be the one who tells CLAMP what to do? LOL

dude, clamp's a group of females who draw really hot manga guys... what ever they said, they're still putting implications in there. i mean, in the manga it never says that they won't be gay. i mean, no one's ever found out the relationship the two characters have w/ the 2 mysterious woman...
and also... what about the rather awkward positions the drug store boss and that other guy has been in... *grins*
i mean, even if they say it isn't shounen-ai, which i guess it isn't because, they story isn't about the romance b/t characters rather the supernaturalcy, so i think clamp ment it that way. i'm still rooting for the BL tibits though.

No matter what Clamp claims, it really is what implied. Maybe they should go back and read their own work thus far in the series. And I do hope the get back to this story so we can find out about those two women. Regardless of what genre it is, I think it's a good series.

I love Legal Drug, and I do fevertly wish that it's BL, but so far, it's only been implied. After all, every single CLAMP series have shonen-ai elements, but none of them (I think) have actually been actually BL yet. Though, we can always wish, can't we?

Er, Satoshi isn't gay, at least in canon. I do wish he is though, since he and Dai-chan would be so cute together! Like most CLAMP series, DNAngel is made to be a "tease" as well. I mean, the way Satoshi act aroung Dai-chan can be taken as a crush, but he never specifically states that he likes him.

Aw, I hope Gohou Drug starts again soon! I mean, I'm quite tired of waiting for X, Gohou Drug and the ending of Clover! Geez. Clover...;_; I love that manga. T^T

You're right about Kei and Kazahaya; they're twins. In volume 3, Kazahaya has a flashback memory where Kei says "we were born together".

However, Tsukiko and Rikuo's relationship isn't defined yet. They were close enough that they could have breakfast together while Rikuo was attending high school. But that doesn't guarantee that they are brother and sister. They could have been living together platonically or romatically and not been related. One fellow fan I discussed this with pointed out that Tsukiko seemed uncertain about Rikuo's likes and dislikes in food when she asked if he liked hijiki (volume 1). If the two had grown up together or had lived together for a long-time, Tsukiko should have known what Rikuo liked, according to her reasoning. So she thinks they were lovers who had recently started living together. I think Tsukiko was asking the question rhetorically and just making conversation. I'm in the brother-and-sister camp myself.

Speculate all you want about the fanservice, innuendos and whatnot, I really have nothing against that (in fact go for it). But that is besides the point, my point was that this is clamp's work, and they can do whatever they want with it (whether or not they execute it well is a different matter all together). Some people were claiming they would do this and that if what they want isn't given to them (unless they were kidding around, however they didn't sound like they were). I apologize if it seems like I'm antagonizing anyone, that is not my intention (sometimes I can be too blunt for my own good). I wasn't debating or discussing the nature of the relationships the series has and will have, I just wanted to point out that clamp can and will do what they feel they should. Simple as that.:)

Well say *nod nod* I think Clamp-sama like a little shonen-ai in they works but until now they never had a BL manga, if Kaza-chan and Rikou-sama have some s-ai moments dont mean they are in love and Clamp-sama will draw a *** scene with them.

I haven't seen this mentioned here. So I thought I would pass this along for the fellow Legal Drug fans. As you probably know, CLAMP appeared at a recent anime convention. Among their appearances was a question and answer session with the press. Among the questions asked and answered was this tasty (for Legal Drug fans, at least) tidbit.

Question: Our viewers and readers have been asking about Legal Drug. What’s going on?

Unfortunately, she didn't define what the phrase "near future" means to her. But this is the most positive official news regarding Legal Drug's continuation that I've read in a long, long while.

It's good to know that this series hasn't been abandoned, but isn't one of the points of the series is that it ties in with xxxHolic. I didn't know this series until I picked up an issue and reconized them as the two guys Watanuki meets at the drugstore in Volume One of xxxHolic. Also the daffodil urn from Volume Two of Legal Drug shows up at Yuko's store.
