I was wondering if we HAVE to submit our manga in the 2x mechanical specifications. I like working on manga at the published size. Would Tokyopop still accept my submission if it were done in the published size?

This is in the submission FAQ...

Q: Do I have to use your mechanical guide to submit?
A: If you are chosen to create a book for TOKYOPOP (or if you are entering the Rising Stars of Manga™ competition) you need to follow the guide and draw to specifications. You don't have to use the guide for your initial submission, but it's a good idea if you want to impress the editors that your work is ready to publish. You may draw on whatever paper type or size you want as long as the copies you send are on 8 1/2" x 11" paper.

We usually ask our creators to draw the art in 2x or 1.5x size. You can get thinner lines that way (gross oversimplification).
